Awesome C-did...36 hole final I presume?  36 holes - there really are no excuses.  You've either got it - or you haven't.  So, in the meantime, work on your three key scoring clubs (especially in match-play) - driver, main chipping wedge (mine - 60 degree), and putter.  And don't choke too.  The chance for glory on the honours board - that's where the big choke can happen...

PS: On the front page today, that's Chris Wood...upcoming Euro Tour player...

PSS: Interesting PGA Championship developing...Adam Scott for major #2?

My conscience got the better of me this morning.

I just spotted on golf.co.nz that whoever entered my card last night had entered me in for an 83 (+11 Over) which after 18 holes of constant soaking drizzle would have put me 1 stroke off the lead in the Intermediate division after the first round. Only problem was that I know and the my playing partners know that I actually signed for an 85 (+13).

Hopefully this results in some good karma next week. As I said to my partner last night, I would feel really shite if I hadn't changed it and ended up a Club Champion.

Karma was on my side for at least the first 12 holes yesterday. Was sitting pretty on 3 over through 12 before losing the plot slightly and bogeying the final 6 holes in a row to sign for an 81.

Finished Runner Up in the Strokeplay Club Champs. Felt gutted after my round as I thought that I may have thrown away the Championship with the string of bogeys but as it turned out the chap who won shot an outstanding 77 (+5 Over) to go with his 82 the previous week.

Stoked to finish runner up in the Intermediate division only 9 months or so after coming back to the game but still a little gutted that I faded so badly over the final 6 holes or so. I know it didn't really matter in the grand scheme of things and wouldn't have put my name on the Honours Board but I still want to play the best I can every time I step out onto the course!

However, we still have 2 weeks to regroup and refocus on my Matchplay Championships Semi Final. Wish it was next week as I am more determined than ever to actually win a Club Championship this year!!!

Well folks. I did it!

I made the final of the Hastings Golf Club Matchplay Club Championships on my first attempt. Won my Semi Final in rather convincing fashion (7 & 5) which did flatter me a little given that I only shot a unconvincing 82 off the stick (+10 Over). My opponent was having an uncharacteristic off day.

All this means that there will be a 36 Hole Final to determine the winner of the Intermediate division on a yet to be determined date as the other Semi Final has been postponed due to one of the players is playing Representative golf over the coming weeks.

Major championship pressure dude.  The best book written on the subject:

http://www.tinapse.ro/home/coltul-indrumatorului-coach/resurse-materiale-instrumente/W.%20Timothy%20Gallwey%20-%20The%20Inner%20Game%20Of%20Tennis.pdf

"The Inner Game of Tennis"...OK, it's about tennis.  But it's absolutely applicable to golf.

Read it dude.

In a nutshell:

You need to "Get in the Zone" as the pros says.  Or "Be in the State of Flow" as the IGoT states...

Match play - the 3 keys: driver, chipping + putter.

Do that better than your opponent - you win.

Get in the Zone dude.

I know you want it too C-Diddy.  I bet you're thinking it 24/7.  Club champs is serious shit dude.

The name on the honours board.  It's there for life.  Hastings Golf Club?  Isn't Frank Nobilo's name on it too?

Don't choke.

Frankie had a bloody tidy golf swing if we're honest.  Smooth as silk.  Nice "swing thought" one if we're honest.  And back in his day - persimmon drivers + balata etc - you needed a good swing to get it around.  Probably should have won more.  Was right in contention in a couple of U.S Opens - but fell apart on the back nine on both sundays.

Out for a casual 18 holes this morning with no pressure on me! Will know my opponent for theClub Champs Final by this afternoon too. Will it be the Wiley Fox, a 12 marker who knocks it straight all day and regularly shoots low-mid 80's or the Young Buck, a 15yr old who has seen his handicap drop by two to five over the course of the winter?

(NB: I would prefer to play the Wiley Fox!!!)

Won 4 & 3 (on the 33rd hole!!!)

Was 4 down after 5 due to the young fella coming out of the blocks fast but managed to peg him bag to 1 down at the end of 18. Finally went ahead on the 27th then struck cramp in my right calf on the 28th tee. Hurt like a bitch but managed to win the hole to go 2 up and walk it off.

The Senior Mens final in the group behind with about 20 or so followers all saw me stagger off the tee in pain after my drive and thought that i'd fucked my back or something and that I was gone for all money when I was crouched over trying to stretch my leg out!!!

Sank a clutch 20ft putt for a half (halved the hole with a double bogey after we both pushed our drives into the trees) on the 32nd hole to stay 3 up then I new it was mine to lose after threading a nice fade through the trees off the tee on 33 and finding the light rough on the right side of the fairway.

Bogey for the win!!!

Pretty happy with the result but now need to set myself a new challenge!!!

So the young guy started out fast but 'peaked' too quickly.

The older guy was more consistent, but cramped up.

I thought this was a golf competition, not some weird sex competition.

Allegedly

Well I did finish it off pretty quickly when I hit the front so I can see your confusion.

Not sure I would last 33 holes in a sex competition though...

It seems there is a Regional Champion of Champions Tournament in early December. Seeking clarification on my eligibility from the Club Captain. Fingers crossed I get to represent!!!

Of course you should be eligible.  You're their intermediate club champion, mate.  What's the problem?  That silly avatar?

Senior Champs is on the radar. Plenty of improving my game to do before then. Thank God for Daylight Savings!!!

I don't know what's worse, me over 3-6 footers or the Black Craps top order.   My stroke is so full of yip.  Bloody hopeless.  Absolutely killing me.  Time for  a putter change.  Useless Odyssey #6 White Hot...

Wrist injury (left hand - when I get to the top of the back swing - yikes!!!) isn't helping too.  Killing my driving.  Time for a break.  Over-golfed.

Pissed off.

Feel the same after last weekend. Was driving like a demon but everything after that was a mystery. Any putt between about 3 to 20 ft I had absolutely no idea, even to the point of 3 putting 7 times in 36 holes.

Took today off golf!

Golf skips a generation in our whanau.

Jnr Jnr is trying it out this year at school - looking at junior academies around Wgtn.  Anyone know anything about Karori Golf Club junior academy (if there is one, what does it cover etc)?

Of course I could email the club itself but that would be too easy.
