I have just taken the big step and joined Hastings Golf Club 15 years after I played any serious golf. Are there any other Feverite's who are members at clubs around the country?

Used to have a membership, but sometimes it just takes too long to play, especially if the drive is over half an hour like my old club was. Still enjoy getting out for the odd round though.

Submitted my first card for handicapping today.

Very sloppy 90 (18 over par)

Looks like the long road towards my previous handicap of 4, albeit 15yrs ag, will begin with a handicap somewhere in the mid teens!

I used to play. Have seriously considered starting again this summer, but don't have any clubs. Also don't know if I have the time to justify paying a membership when I'm supposed to be saving (for brazil 2014).

First card in and I am currently on a provisional handicap of 15.7 after adjustments etc...

With 3 rounds to play before its official and factoring in some slight improvement on my first score of 90 it would appear that I will be settling in with a handicap of around 12 - 14.

Gives me some scope for goal setting!!!

C-diddy, you're a burglar just waiting to happen, dude.  A 4 handy playing off a 15!!!!  Don't give me that 15 years ago crap either....whatever your game was built on back then (i.e., whether its was power, accuracy, money-for-dough iron play...etc...me, it;s always been my lovely 'soft hands')...it never truly leaves you...just need few trips to the driving range...remember the basics...a lesson would be worth its weight in gold....

You little burglar you...

Stevo, just happy to be playing again.

Put the game on the backburner at 19 to chase ladies and a career. As I said earlier I am keen to set some goals to achieve this year, the first is likely to be reaching single figures!

We'll see what happens from there.

(Oh and yes I agree there is a high likelihood that I will burgle somewhere along the way!!!)

Does hitting chunks out of the fairways count as 'golf'?

Pretty scratchy 80 today (+8) with 2 Double Bogeys on the front 9.

Encouraging improvement!

Antihistamines or some vitamin C might do the trick.

Just found out that I won $11 in the "Pro's Two's" Comp on Saturday at Napier Golf Club courtesy of a birdie on the Par 3 7th.

We all have our majors dude...my last "major" was the Te Marua mid-week men's stableford back in 2003...played off a somewhat improvised 10 handy...shot a very easy 73 off the stick (missed a 5 footer for eagle (kind of yipped it on purpose - I was starting to feel a bit guilty...for instance, one gentleman I was playing against drove a tank on D-Day +1)...and I also bogeyed the two easiest holes for good measure).  But 44 stablefords was more than enough for a great major triumph...

Picked up a few of weeks work living at a golf resort in South Canterbury.

Hopefully I'll manage to shoot one round in double digits in my spare time lol.

A horrible day on the golf course yesterday. It seemed like every tree on the golf course was taking turns at jumping in front of my ball.

After a few encouraging rounds in the past month, yesterday I shot an underwhelming 90 (+18 Over).

More practice for me this week I think...

Well folks. After a few months of battle on the golf course I have finally handed in my 5th and final card to receive an official NZGA Approved Golf Handicap. I have been given a Handicap Index of 6.4!

This is equivalent to playing off an 8 Handicap at Bridge Pa which I am pretty happy with it must be said!!!

Now its time to set some realistic goals and maybe the odd extremely unlikely one just for good measure...

I know this thread is becoming a Self Indulgent Wankfest but I do not care in the slightest!!!

Shot a disappointing 83 (+11 Over) off the Black tees yesterday with 2 Triple Bogeys and a Double Bogey. Am still in the hunt to qualify for the knockout stage of the Mulholland Cup as I am currently in a tie for 16th at 76 Nett with a round to go (Top 16 places go through based on 36 hole combined Nett scores)

Slight correction to make here too. My Course Handicap is actually 7 and not 8 as previously suggested.

Bring on next Saturday!!!

Keep them coming dude...always a good laugh...

PS: What equipment are you using?  Asking, because it's a key question as to how serious you really are about your "comeback"...[saying this, as I look lovingly at my Taylormade Superfast 2.0 driver and Callayway Jaws wedge sitting there in the corner...both yet to see actual golfing combat]    :-(

Chipped in from about 150 for the first Eagle of my life at Blenheim Golf Club yesterday. Was pretty stoked!

Thinking about getting myself handicapped. Suspect I'll shoot off something like a 25.

Tremendous effort dude...but chip ins are from less than 20 metres...from 20-80 metres you say "I pitched in today"  Greater than that, "I holed out from..."
Love from Brendan Telfer.
