Neo Liberals? You think this government will take a neo liberal economic position? I think you are having a laugh. If Roger Douglas gets anywhere near cabinet i may share your views but the economic policy differential between Labour and National is minimal.
I voted for a change in government because i believe Helen Clarke had lost her way as a leader and was leading a government that was doing some dodgy things
, Winston, Showerheads to name just a few.
It does not matter one f**king bit mate how old I was last time we had neo liberals in control, I have just as much right as you to vote for what i believe will be best for this country. And to me a change in Government was what was needed to keep us strong. And the last time Neo Liberals were in control I was anywhere between 4-8 depending how you want to work the National Government of the early 90s in there
Sorry angry question I was about to delete it when I see you replied.
Firstly absolutely. You do. It was a resounding victory, supported by many New Zealanders who have seen a lot of things, and believe that Helen Clark had lost her way.
I didn't see it the way they and you did, and I want to know why you did see it that way.
This, certainly with the policy of large investments in infrastructure funded by our superanuation savings, is not entirely an idelogically pure neo-liberal government. It will be iin co-alition with a party that attempts to be ideologically pure that way.
However, other policies such as privatising ACC or 'opening it up to competition' will not benefit the majority of New Zealanders. ACC compensation has been a unique achievement of NZ since the 70s I believe. It keeps us away from ambulance chasing lawyers and so many other nastry things common overseas.
Sorry my crap broadband won't open the direct link to teh PriceWaterhouseCoopers report, but it is linked to from this post.
Also the measure of putting workers on a 90 fire at will probation, when a probation period exists in the current legislation is unecessary, and a first step in eroding workers rights.
Another thing that I find appalling is privatising prisons. I don't like our biding for higher sentences anyway. But running justice for profit is something that I just don't like at all.
As I didn't like our school assembly in 1999 being used to sell us an electricity company, with prizes of PS2s if we changed companies, followed up by an electric company calling the house with details from the school.
I'm worried mate. I hope they prove me wrong.
The leaky buildings were a result of deregulation in the building industry from them last time, and I have a friend who has had builders in and out of his building, and it covered in a tarpaulin for months, at great cost to him, as a result just to make it safe. They want to scale back the RMA.
I'm worried.
That's all. I didn't mean to insult you dude. Arsenal just soured my buzz a bit last night, and I thought he at the very least could explain himself.
