Got to play last weekend... Looking very good that I won't be this Friday. Otherwise Happy Valley isn't going to be a very happy place.

If it's cancelled and pushed back to the end of the season, I hope for your sake it's not still at Happy Valley.

Way to go Capital football! Cancel some of the same grades two weeks in a row, while other teams are playing both weeks, well done

Central League through Cap 3 still being played, as well as Cap 7, 10 and 14. Everything else cancelled by the looks of it.

Cap 7 and 14 both got to play games last week. It's ridiculous that they are getting to play this week too.

Yes it has rained, but  are the grounds that waterlogged that they can not cope at this early stage? Going to be a long season at this rate and I can see games played at all sorts of stupid times

I imagine it is more to do with which grounds are available, and which grades are playing on those grounds though yeah?
A grade playing a lot of games on turf is more likely to be on, whereas grades playing on Naenae park and happy valley that round are likely to be cancelled.

Allegedly

perhaps there is some favouritism happening here as all but one game is transferred so it is not because they were already on artificial turf.
wonder if some club/team in div 7 has been asking favours?

2 of the games were transferred to coll over a week ago I think (I know ours was)
I play in one of the cap 7 teams and a lot of us would rather not play Monday and Friday in the same week, haha!
Was secretly hoping we'd be canned....

A brilliant conspiracy theorist I know told me yesterday that LAST week's cancellations were at the request of the Phoenix.

I can believe that maybe a Phoenix request tipped the balance. Especially with that promo they were running to get clubs to buy tickets.

Good to see my facebook timeline light up with photos of blue sky saying that they should be playing tonight. FFS have people forgotten about the constant rain in the last week. People also saying all games should be played tomorrow. Yeah because people don't makes plans outside of football.

Had someone whinging to me last week about the games being on Friday and Monday..."football should be on Saturday afternoon" he said.

Yeah, cos nobody wants to go away for the long weekend or anything.

Some people will never be happy.

if you are going away you are going away one day make no difference i feel…..my team still had 5 guys going away all 4 days so it hasn't helped.
you either want to play football or go away with the family…...
so it goes both ways smithy…maybe don't play easter at all?????

Why not play at all when you can play on Friday?

They've done it because a lot of teams used to default on Easter weekend.

agreed that the defaults were a pain but now we have 10-20% playing mid week there is not a full round played every weekend so midweek players can help fill the gaps…..
i know this is not legal but it is what happens…..

Playing social grade football on a day when there are no bars or pubs open is probably not a good idea.

And you're proposing that cap football encourage something that isn't within the rules?

Unlikely. They'd just rewrite the rules to suit ;)

It was a tad breezy in Eastbourne today.

Have played in some windy conditions in Wellingon but Saturday (at Ben Burn park) was just something else. Tough defending against the wind when corners that look like they are heading in the direction of the half way line are bending in the wind and almost going in the far top corner and goalkicks can barely make it out of the penalty area etc.

Fixtures out now for 14 June for Cap 5. Weird. Once that round is played we will have played two teams twice and two teams we have not played. Must be some logic somewhere I guess

The cancelled or postponed games generally go to the end of the season or are made up mid week, as catch ups - As the draw is crated pre-season(but only published weekly)

It's not even because of cancellations though. Rounds are just being played in a seemingly random order, where we end up playing the same teams twice before we've even seen others once.
Perhaps they saw the A league do it, and thought it'd make local football seem more professional if they did it too.

We have the same team twice in two weeks, 31 May and 14 June. Still to play 2 teams in the div. Not complaining, it is social football. Just backing up points made.
