Really big game in the history of CCL (old fashioned 2nd tier) club Selwyn United, taking on arguably the best club side in the country. Maybe the chance of a 'Cupset'? Who would know.......but we love having the whole club behind the 1st team tomorrow!

Just in from Wests v Wairarapa United, good game, 2 handballs, 1 resulted in pen for Wairarapa United (which Ifill scored) other was late in 2nd half for Wests and shouts were turned down - from where I was it looked more like a ball to hand (ie unintentional by Rapa player)

If Wests weren't trying to score the perfect goal and had a few more shots rather than passing it around they could have got a win

Other results

Western Suburbs 1 Wairarapa  United 2

KCU 0 North Wellington 1

New Plymouth Rangers 0 PN Marist 3

Tawa 1 Marist 0 - shocking game apperently

Reasonably comfortable for the blacknblue. Two very good goals. Danny Clarke didn't have much to do in goal for Rangers. Most notable for two things: 1) the referees having a serious debate about whether a miramar sub could wear black skins under his predominantly black (with blue stripes) kit. Ridiculous. Why can they not apply common sense here? 2) Coach Sandford and #9 having words with each other when #9 was substituted. He wasn't impressed.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I bet Declan got very excited about that

Went to the ECB vs Papakura today. The goal from the Kura lad up front was probably one of the best finishes I have seen at that level.

They went 1 nil up. Bays had a few chances just could not get it in the net. Until just before half time. 1-1 into the break.

Shortly after Kura missed probably one of the easiest tap ins and the lad hits it over the top. From then they fell apart as we got a few quick goals.

Finished 5-2 probably a fair result. The pitch was terrible to play on, but lovely club house and good food.

Let's hope (for the little clubs) that the Central League teams draw each other and a Prem or, in Upper Hutt's case, Cap 1 side can go deep into the comp.

Went to Glenfield v Waitak.

Good cup tie.

Keegan Linderboom free kick on the edge of the box in about the 118th minute gave Waitak a deserved win. Think there may have been some questions asked about the  Glenfield keepers organisation of the wall.

Few real chances.

Perhaps an upset but given Waitaks cup pedigree perhaps not ?

Good to see a team of largely no names beat an (allegedly) expensively assembled Glenfield side.

some pretty decent names in that Waitak side though

Jake Butler

Anthony Hagan

Dylan Manickum

Keegan Linderboom

Paul Rhodes

Harry Sage

Ross Nicolson

Even with Hagan in their midfield that has to be one of the best going around..

So, can someone confirm that Glenfield are yet again out in the early rounds?

Unluggy.

Three for me, and two for them.

Buffy knew.  As a supporter of rival's Birkenhead he was having a gloat.

Also thanks to the Welly clubs who's scheduling allowed us to take in 3 games yesterday.

Need someone at North Wellington to have a late kickoff.

Try going through Helen, we have her contact details. Convince her they should do the later game so people in Wellington can watch both

I was at the same game - completely agree with the great strike from Api Singh for 'Kura, then the absolute miss of the century from Andy Cole Chis Clark for the home side after some great work by Singh to feed him. ECB a class above Papakura, but didn't really create many opportunities until the equaliser despite dominating possession and territory.

I don't know what's going on at McLennan Park but the grass on the main field and the top field is just in a shark state. I know sand based takes a lot of water, but would lack of water cause that surface? All the grass had gone brown like it was sprayed with something.....could frost do that? Serves the Council right after cheating the cricket club out of their own clubrooms there......

$5 for a handle of Speights was good, but thought the chips had too much salt on them.

Yeah.  Had evening games on there with lights shining.

Draw probably couldn't have gone much worse for Wellington fans.

Think its to do with Mangere's appeal re losing their points and assume their Chatham Cup win in round 1 will be affected

Think they are saying the person who would normally do the transfer was away helping in Fiji and the person who did the transfer in their place made the mistake by selecting the wrong player.

Or the guy in Fiji was trying to work it out on his cell phone and stuffed it up from there.

I honestly have very little sympathy, they made an error which could have been stopped by so many basic safety checks.

This is why this club wasn't right for national league despite south Auckland badly needing a representative.
