Biggest thrashings

Following on from the Stop Out thread, here's your chance to boast about the biggest thrashing you've been involved in, or cleanse yourself by admitting to a hiding you've been on the end of.

On the latter....

1988 - Tawa College 1st XI 0, Wellington College 1st XI 10 - Mark Clare scored 6 goals.

Maybe not a big hiding but after the score being 5-0 to Wgtn United when I was playing for Wests......with 90 minutes gone......Blair Easthope says to me while defending a corner......"Carney, 5 goals, 2 minutes, just give me the ball.......i'll do it for us"

Lightened the mood and I think even Imre Foldi had a chuckle at that one.

Good thread Barber-

Worst ever defeat:
Wgtn Utd Salmon 0- Karori Nomads 10 (i think)Melrose park, 2004
bad for a number of reasons- apart from the score
It was my first time captaining the Salmon in the absence of our regular gaffer, and before this game Salmon's biggest ever defeat was 4-0.

we totally capitulated from the whistle- my only tactic was to tell our keepr to slow down on the restarts to stop them having more time to score (That keeper never came back) and by the end my aim was to keep it under double figures!

We actually beat the Nomads in our next two games too! and now we have poached their seasoned left Back Dave Armstrong- ahh the lower league memories

Cap 3 2004
Lower Hutt 15 - Petone 1. That was one horrible day to be a keeper

i love reading the results page on Saturday arvo
There is always a thrashing where the oppo gets one- either they score early through a fluke or more likely score last as the centre backs and keeper seagull in the oppo six yard for a  bit of the action

Some of them are in the divisional threads prof.

The Cap. 11 one was the Wharfies Tonners which is the Four Kings based squad so Big Dunc, REG22, Coxey and others were involved.

I'm in that Miramar team. We had a bad start and were 4-0 down pretty quickly. Never really recovered, though we only get 2 through in the second half (more through luck than anything else).

Fairly one-sided.

Capital 4 - 11 August 2007
Wainui 0 Island Bay HHH 15

The easiest clean sheet I have ever had. Wainui were awful. It will be interesting seeing how they go in Capital 5 this year.

1978 Porirua College 19 Tawa College 0
Our coach told one of our team he had to score 6 before half time if he wanted to leave and go to his rugby league game, he got 9 in the first half and left.

haha I guess, but the precise score?  My biggest loss (I think) was something like 12-1 when i was 15 playing in the old under 19 club league.  We happened to be 1-0 up too.  Sad thing was I had a blinder in goal as well.

I just remembered that we lost 10-0 at Napier in a Chatham Cup game in 1991 and our 'keeper got MOM.

i hate to admit it (cos i think it was missed off the Capital Football Soccer site - but Wharfies women went down 15-0 on the weekend to Upper Hutt NZ Utd.
THey obviously readthe humorous banter on this site, and turned up at KP with speedos - only to find a Wembleyesque carpet..(best defense I could come up with)

Div14b Nrth Welly's first game as a team also, started with 9 players got the full 11 just before the half, had 3 different keepers, ref wasn't calling offsides (although to his credit also wasn't calling some of the rougher challenges our lads put in either) but what can you do.

Arms Fc are after a striker....

Its an age old question News

whether tis nobler to tromp the lower ponds like a ravenous shark, nutmegging your way to a golden haul of glory or to swim in the oceans of the upper grades, like a gold fish fighting for survival
in short- play lower grade and be a hero or get hard in the uppers

One thing is for sure- some of these teams are out of their depth

Auckland Grammer 21 Mt Roskill 0 1995 , Im not sure why the wanted to play in that league.

Didn't Central Beat Norwest United 20 odd nill in the Cup a few years back and Paul U scored 11 or 9 or something?

It almost needs some grading in the lower grades with new sides.

One week isn't a snapshot, but those guys and teams like the Tonners look like they should start at a higher level, but how do you make that judgement with new teams appearing and how do you fit them in higher ?

Superb for Football that there are another 12 or so senior sides though.

well, they have to start somewhere
and its nice ot have the history in the midle leagues
i.e. knowing that a team was relegated ort promoted, rather than plonked their by Capital Football and their chairman

They'll survive the season and then readjust- its character building innit!
