Oh, what a season - I'm so glad someone posted that league table.

United - freshly promoted - lost to Island Bay on opening day and then went on to win the league.  Carney - we put four past you twice - good times! Onree, from memory we struggled to beat you up the Coast, but then scored 9 at Newtown.

We had an Irish striker named Chris Morgan join us that year.  He was simply superb.  At his first training he put us all to shame.  Scored some cracking goals, but unfortunately had to go home before the National League play-offs where we beat Cavvy 5-0 but lost to North Shore 2-0.

Morgan was the best I've ever played with apart from Batram Suri.  Class act.

It was 1-1 at 78 minutes, after an early Olympic Goal, and ended up 1-4 as the lack of depth and experience just let SO down...

First season of Central League Football in 1968 saw some mismatches in the second division.
In an 18 game league, Stopout won the division scoring 127 goals. Seatoun second 93 goals and Petone thrid 75 goals. Landsdowne (Masterton) and St Andrews (PN) were the whipping boys that year. Regularly double figure losses.

I think that was the year all those jokes about keepers came out.
DIVED IN FRONT OF A BUS AFTER THE GAME AND IT WENT UNDERNEATH HIM.
Went into the dressing room and buried his head in his hands. It slipped through his fingers and fell on the floor. etc. etc.etc...

CYFC were three up after about ten minutes....
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Team banned after 54-1 defeat

Football authorities have banned a whole team after they lost 54-1 in a promotion derby.

All 11 players in Germany's DJK Lowen II's first team have been suspended for a year after being accused of deliberately letting rivals Rheinkassell-Langel II win to gain promotion.

But Lowen have won at least one title after Cologne football authorities allowed the result to stand.

"They decided that Rheinkassell weren't involved directly in the cheating so they kept the points and Lowen is now officially the worst team ever in German league football," said one fan.
