There was a suggestion that Wainiu would play-off against Naenae rather than KCU and the bubbles would keep their auto spot if a Wellington side made the Central league.

I don't know what the official rule is on that.

The bubbles might not win the grade, a lost/draw with Island Bay (unlikely) and Wainui could still finish first.

Olympic Lost 1-0.

Not the link of performance you would expect from a side that spent almost all the season atop of the league.

Well done to island Bay, who made the most of their chances. Although their coach is a total prick. No sportsmanship whatsoever.

Hard on the boys who have worked so hard during the season to see their top spot nicked on the final day. But, that's football.

Look forward to the playoff game now.

Steve, or any other Olympic lads, how's the boy who got his teeth smashed?  I was the other player and have just got back from the hospital with 7 staples in my head.  The doc pulled out about 8 small bits of teeth from my wound!'

Great win for us today - we really put it togetherm, holding posession well most of the time.  We weren't perfect and offered up a few opportunites (including 2 off the line) but scrapped our way to the win.  Great game from our keeper and basically all the lads.  To turn around a 10-2 hiding into a 1 nil win is mighty satisfying.  And no help from our firsts if anyone was wondering.  In fact only had 2 subs and when I went off we played with 10 as we had used both of them.

Olympic were already down to 10 at that stage after one of their defenders got a second yellow with maybe 20 minutes to go.

I'm not sure what our coach was doing Steve but he was mostly trying to get under your guys skin and by the sound of it did quite well.  In fact as everyone knows it's not a bad tactic against Olympic and today it worked from us, you boys were getting very frustrated.
You question his sportsmanship yet it's interesting that only one of your boys made it into our clubrooms afterwards (although I realise it was your home game).

So we're safe another year.  We really needed that result today and I bet Brooklyn were gutted to hear it after they picked up a point against the Hutt.

Oh and I heard Olympic had a victory party planned tonight, what a pity we spoiled it! (for at least a week!)

Hah. Could be interesting, Welly United Prems season has pretty much wrapped up so count on a few players being dropped.

Most hilarious thing about this all is that their is still the slight possibility that Olympic will end up in yet another play-off game with Naenae. Would be big lols.

I don't think Wgtn Utd can drop any players as the 1st team has finish their season already, therefore they can't be regraded. I think this rule was set up to exactly stop this sort of practice.

Wellington Utd are by far the best team in the league (although they may finish in eighth) so I'm guessing an easy win

Mate no victory party was planned, pretty poor performance v island bay, but have to look forward to the promotion game and make sure we get promoted. But as you said, its not over, Wellington Uniteds a pretty good team and they no doubt can beat the Nui or even draw. As for Enriko he had to get stitches in his lip out in the hutt i believe, had to wait till later at night to get them with the coach as he cant even speak english well.

Karori Dreamers, having already secured third spot, making it ten season of Dreaming and never finishing lower than third. Sat will be a testimonial for Phil Gordine age 67.

Well done to the dreamers, always enjoyed my games against them in Cap 2.  Even had a draw with them once from about 10 attempts.

Smith signs off as Petone coach with another loss.  Apparently some supporters thought it couldn't come soon enough.

look at the league table after round 6/7. wainui pretty impressive last 12 games unbeaten, 10 wins out of 12, including last 6 in a row!defensive record in last 12 games conceded only 8 goals - big ups!!! tried to play good football in trying conditions, were also good opponents both on and off the field with their clubrooms/people always hospitable!!
Well done Wainui all the best in premier. hard luck olympic but 2nd chance v kapiti next week>

Rubbish - Last year it went down to the wire for first place, not the choke-fest that happened this year.
The only way Olympic got robbed last year, was by the joke decision made by capital football about a regraded player. Funnily enough, against Naenae thelastnomad2010-08-29 10:48:09

Thanks for the kind words said about Wainui.  This is a great achievement for us, including pre-season the squad has worked exceptionally hard and is a very close unit.  We hope we do make everyone feel welcome.  The Club has a great heart and is looking forward to playing in Champs next year. Well, if you can keep all your players and get them to play with alot of heart and for eachother there's no reason why Wainui can't be competetive next year.
Should be an intersesting game KCU-Olympic. My prediction is whoever scores the first goal will win as the other team will self-destruct by bitching and moaning with eachother.
