I'd be spewing if I was other clubs in the grade. Tawa effectively given 3 free points, not their fault of course and sure they will take it, but that's shark from Miramar. I can't remember seeing a game defaulted at this level since I started playing in 2006.

I'm gutted. We lost to that Miramar team the other week, talk about luck of the draw getting them two weeks later.

I went to Marist v Naenae

here's my write up

and some photos

Thanks for these. Good to see someone else's view on the game and some photos.

By the way, Connor Boyd scored the screamer for the 2nd goal.

Cheers have changed that - I went off the ref's team sheet and he put down that it was Miles Sneddon that scored

Cap Football are being strict on player dispensations, 14 y/o definitely not allowed. Be interesting to see what happens..

Any worse hot water than forfeiting a game?

Anything happening about the under aged keeper? After defaulting the week before it imagine the penalty won't be light...

See Upper Hutt running away with it. 5 clear with a game in hand.
3-0 yesterday. McLay in the scoresheet? How many does McLay have now?

Congratulations to Upper Hutt for winning Div 1.  A great turn around after a double down of relegation.

Capital Premier promises to be very competitive next year.

Can anyone confirm with certainty what happens if Miramar get relegated from Prem in terms of relegations from Cap 1? Does it mean Naenae would be saved as Miramar's third team would have to drop to Cap 2?

Permalink Permalink

And heres an interesting scenario.

If Karori's reserve team don't finish second in Cap 1. That means their thirds can't get promoted out of Cap 2. That leaves Wainui in third having to playoff against second bottom in Cap 1. But if Miramar have to go down (thus saving Naenae from the palyoff) then does that give Wainui automatic promotion? (Which I thought was not supposed to happen from third position?)

Or would Marist get a playoff with Wainui?

Permalink Permalink

I think Marist play wainui. But all this would be after the CL playoff which would be mid Sept!

True. So Marist need to cheer on Lower Hutt against Upper Hutt next week and who ever is playing Miramar seconds. Who would've thought you could survive after finishing 10th!

Fairly sure (correct me if I'm wrong) WU reserves got promoted to Cap Prem automatically from 3rd place a few years back. Think it involved Miramar and Karori in the top two positions with no way of going up.

Fuck this stupid game

I'm not sure if this helps, but the way to work it out is that teams which have earned promotion (first or second) get promoted.

And then relegations take place to accommodate.

Ordinarily you can't get automatically promoted from third place. You can only be promoted by a playoff which you earn if one of the teams placed first or second cannot be promoted.

But if there is a downards cascade of teams leaving a hole to be filled then a third-placed team could be promoted without a playoff. I think that's what happened to Wellington United's reserves a few years ago. A team had to come down, and neither of the top two could go up. So the playoff was effectively defaulted.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Well done Smithy - you've learned something at last

Yeah that sounds right. From memory we (WU at the time) had a fairly shark first half of the season then went on a bit of a run to nick 3rd at the end. We were never really even thinking about the possibility of going up until we learned that a Cap Prem team had to come down. We were extremely lucky but having the reserves up in Cap Prem meant we had a mini influx of decent players creating more depth which helped us compete fairly respectively for the best part of couple of seasons

Fuck this stupid game

The WU first team went up to CL at the same time I think which could have been another reason why a team had to go up

Yes, I guess the following is quite confusing (from CF playing regulations)

"At the end of each season, promotions are always completed first then relegations are made

as required"
