To old and to many bad joints. And mean body joints.  To many teams these day get caught out complaining when they think they are on the end of a bad call. Setup to defend that call first then ask the question. 99% of the time the decision won't change but you can quickly go down a goal after it.

3-0 for Eastbourne over Naenae! Been about 8 games since our last win. Good feeling.

Hmmm..

Good win for the naked mole rats anyway. 3-0. Unsure of the palace score who also played tonight, but that potentially lifts us into 8th with a game in hand. Next big game is against Palace sometime in the next few weeks. Potential relegation decider. Assuming 2 end up going down.

The ref turned up after the game had finished which was a bit of a joke. Was a hard fought game, obviously the two best teams in the league....see you guys in Cap 4 next year! Third (maybe 4th?) year in a row, getting a bit sick of it to be honest

You have to have a challenge each season or it becomes to easy.

Naenae relegated today. Don't think I've ever played in a game as 1 way as today. Should've been 16-0. We missed about 10 one on ones. Was pretty nice not having a lot to do in the back for once tho

Thought naenae had a spell where they matched you in the first half. But yeah, it was pretty sad to watch toward the end there. Fairly happy that you guys won though, as eliminates any chance of us (Eastbourne) coming last after we beat half of their first team last week as well.

Interesting at the bottom...can Eastbourne get up to third to bottom? There team that played last night looked quite different from the team that played against us (Wests)

Shouldn't be. We picked up 2 players halfway through the season and also lost 3 as they went overseas. The 2 we picked up were just brothers of current team members. At least no one can accuse us of dropping players to try to avoid relegation haha.

It's a massive game on Saturday between Brooklyn palace and Eastbourne. I believe bottom 2 go down, and Eastbourne are 2nd bottom - 1 point behind palace with a game in hand.

A win for Eastbourne sees them stay up, a win for palace sees them stay up. A draw means Eastbourne will have to get a draw the following week against Brooklyn reserves to stay up.

Lots of movement between the two BNU sides at the moment as both unable to field full squads. No game this weekend for the reserves so may see a strengthened Palace side. We needed a few of their lads on Saturday gone just to get a squad of 12 together. A few reserves played last night too in the 5-3 loss to Mar

Yeah we did wonder when we saw that haha. Had heard you'd asked CF for your sides to be played on seperate days.

Will make for an intersting game then huh? Eastbourne missed plenty of chances in the first half last night , think they should be a bit disappointed(Went home at half time, too cold!)

5-3 not a bad result against miramar AJ, did you play?

Yeah typical of us. Marist came into it more in the 2nd half without creating as many chances. Feel like if we'd put one of them away we would have been laughing. But still, we've had games like that before, and I remember one particularly against petone, where we had a lot of first half chances, got frustrated then lost the game in the second half. So it was encouraging to keep a clean sheet and come away with a draw, but also a little frustrating as a win would have meant we only needed a draw next week to stay up.

Watched parts of the miramar vs Brooklyn game, it was a hell of a game. We were naturally cheering Miramar on and a collective sigh of relief came from our team as we warmed up with one eye on the game, when Miramar scored their 4th and 5th goals.

Nah didn't play, I've only played 1 game since I played against you. I haven't been able to commit to training a so lost my place in the squad, I only get called upon when we're really scraping the bottom of the barrel for players haha

I am pumped for this weekend. I have a couple of friends who play for palace which makes it even more of a grudge match for me.

Wow, not long ago you didn't have enough. Strong finish for Brooklyn huh?

Considering we should've been relegated last season I think we've done pretty well this year. Next year I'd like to think we could push for promotion, the hardest part for us is just making up the numbers.

So Eastbourne 1-1 Brooklyn Palace. Penalty with two minutes to go cost us after I scored with 15ish to go. Pretty fair result in the end. Win or draw next week will see us safe!

Damn so it all comes down to the last round for Eastbourne then

Yeah that was a heartbreaking late penalty that palace got. CF referee called it whilst standing on the halfway line.

Ah well, means we can look forward to another big game this weekend.

I might not get a game this weekend then, last match of the season so everyone's going to be pretty keen, and if we are short I'd imagine there will be no shortage of Palace players putting their hands up.

Petone must feel a little short changed from Naenae's default, only being awarded a 2-0 win. A default should be more than that I reckon

A few years back when I was on a CF sub-committee looking at all the rules I proposed 5-0 for default,or 8-0. I was solidly outvoted.

I think that Naenae team ran out of steam. Uni beat Miramar as well which was a surprising result.

I note that the Brooklyn team did very well in Cap 6. I wonder if players from there will be considered for Palace next year or are they closed teams?

Pretty sure they're just a social side. They have some handy players though.

Yeah last week was the final straw for Naenae I think. You know you're done when your make shift side gets trounced by another make shift side

Well that sucked. Eastbourne lose 3-1 to Brooklyn Reserves. My last game for Eastbourne then.

Gutted. Always thought you guys were a lot better than your results suggested, I've seen a lot worse in this league, including us at times as well. Probably the best bunch of lads to play against also. Hopefully some kind of movement in higher grades plays out and you get to stay up like we did when finishing in your position last season.

How come you aren't going to play for Eastbourne anymore?

Probably spat the dummy lol I know that feeling though, have said the same thing myself every season about BNU haha this is the first season in 5 years where we haven't finished in the bottom 2 spots

I live in town and although the Eastbourne lads are great, I found it was a very unorganised club.

Looks like Palace are down now too, due to CL promotion/relegation. 2 BNU teams in Cap 6 for 2014

Well if you have to play at Naenae Park, better to do so in April than in late August!

BNU storming to a 5-1 away win over Uni. Never looked back

Permalink Permalink

Upper Hutt 1 BNU 1.

Interesting game and We definitely the happier to get a point although it took a late goal from BNU to stop us taking all three. Upper Hutt keeper man of the match with some terrifc saves, plus some pretty poor finishing meant the result could have been very different. A Brand new referee with some "interesting" calls and he managed to find about six yellow cards in a pretty good sort of match, but any mistakes he made could not be said to have cost either team the game.
