And what about the guy who got out of his car after a clearance over the touchline hit the car?

WTF? He's driving 10 metres away from a football game, it's not inconceivable that a ball just may accidentally hit the car. And he comes out to argue...what a t**ser. Gave him a mouthful that left him a bit gobsmacked.

The Aces still remain without any points this season after a game of "play NOTHING through the middle of the park" due to Anderson Park's infamous cricket block being a disgrace. Both University and us played down the wings and both played very well, but the end of the game had them down for a win, and it was well deserved. I had my U13's team playing on the same pitch at 9am that morning, so knew it was going to a crap surfice for a 12.30 KO.

Though the light continues to shine for the Aces first points of the season, and a trip to Cobham next week to play 2nd from bottom Marist Cobras might be the turning point.......though I say this every week

Well I hope you don't get the same conditions as we did against the Marist team we had at Cobham on Saturday.

The wind was appalling and conditions close to zero degrees. The only highlight was that the showers in the changing shed were hot and we managed to finish before the rugby lads next to us!

Different Marist team to the first time we played them. Bet them 1-nil first time round and only a couple of irish lads in there. This time round, lost 3-nil and bar the keeper, I think they had 10 irish lads playing. All pretty handy and one team to watch out for!

Ouch, Magpies must be hurting - first loss for how long? And now its going to be a tight run home. It gives the top of that table some interest. Good game?

Meanwhile Stallions dropping points for the 2nd week in a row hurts. Looks like there might be a good battle for first, and then for 3rd with a few teams in the hunt.

We were absolute rubbish yesterday, especially in the first half. Got things very wrong tactically and were lucky to be only 2-1 down at the half.

Rearranged thins a bit in the second and played a bit better, pulled it back to 2-2 and looked comfortable, and then conceded a fairly unlucky goal with about 5 to go. Credit to SVegas, they're a good side, just a shame that there have so many pricks in the team.

Must be a disappointing loss for the Stallions, I thought you'd do the job there. But Marist have gone on a good run now, they may be the team to watch for the last 5 games of the league.

Seems we have quite an anti-Stokes Valley bunch here. Didn't think we'd upset too many over the course of the season...

Come to think of it, it's 2 or 3 guys who are the main culprits. The other guys are OK.

Any team that knocks over the Magpies and is capable of stopping their long reign of terror over Cap 7 is ok with me ...

Too right. So for how long has this Karori bunch been dominating the mighty Cap 7?
Permalink Permalink

Only last two seasons really. The weather debacle from last season meant we didn't get promoted to Cap 6 - we were top of the table by 4 points after 15 games played, but because the Capital Football decided only the first round games would count, Sealords ended up being promoted instead of us.

True, Capital Football has screwed a fair few teams.

So only one team gets promoted?
Permalink Permalink

My understanding for this season is that top 2 get promoted, bottom 2 get relegated.
Which basically means half the grade either goes up or down for the following season. Maybe a bit silly, but guess they're trying to keep the season as interesting for everyone for as long as they can.

Yeah, its made for the most competitive Div 7 for a long time though - I feel for the Aces who would have done fine in this grade last year, but with the bottom 4/5 teams dropping away to who knows where its upped the competition dramatically. Bring back the Terrace and endless Petone teams!  Mind you, neither of your 2 teams have been too troubled. Just wait until the cup!

Wow - I can't quite believe the scores on the Cap Football website. Stokes Valley losing 7-2 to Marist? I've heard the Irish lads have improved/brought in a few more guys, but 7-2? And Stallions losing to the other Uni team? What's up with that? Is there a massive Cap Football fail here?

We played Marist Cobras, and had a fairly average first half. Played OK for most of it, fluffed a few chances, and then conceded a very soft goal and fell to pieces until the halftime, just hoofing the ball and not having any kind of structure.

Picked things up in the second half, scored a good Route 1 goal, and added another later on. Still managed to fluff a few chances, and ended up with a narrow 2-1 win.

We were fairly unhappy with our performance after the game, but thinking back if we'd been a bit more clinical this could have been a 5/6-1 and we wouldn't have given it a second thought.

Well. A massive game it seems for us next week.

Yes, curious results indeed - especially that Marist thrashing.

We were woeful and lost to a team who wanted it a lot more than we did, and have now lost 3 in a row - beginning the traditional Stallion slide to the middle of the table in the second part of the season. Nairnville was a mudpit, and we didn't adjust.

Still a good fine and venting session and we are set on turning it around in the run home and winning the cup!

I mentioned to look out for the Marist team. Good structure and they have a number of ball players all over the pitch. They'll be there over the next 4 games.

As for me, I'm still waiting to play Karori Park against a Karori team. Tranferred to Grenada against the Aces. Must annoy you wharfies team no end.

Good win for us, 3-nil. Could have been a few more but we won't complain. Looking for 3 in a row against the Cobras this weekend.

7-2 pretty much sums it up. We were dominated physically, all over the park. Errors in defence and quality Marist finishing didn't help. We couldn't get anything going on that terrible Crawford pitch but promotion is still in our hands.

Hoping that you Karori boys knock them over for us...you seem to win by a goal every week.

We weren't that good yesterday...and it doesn't help that our finishing seems to have deserted us completely.

But we'll definitely be aiming to take them down.

Normal service resumed this week - all expected results, and down to last 3 weeks of the league season.

We played some good football today, as far as the muddy conditions would allow it. Finishing wasn't up to scratch again, should have score quite a few more. But solid three points, have the Karori derby next week.

Though it looks like I won't be playing in it, crocked my ankle again...

We played well, I thought we did well enough to deserve the win 2-0  a good game played with good spirit from both sides and thanks to Elite and their club we enjoyed a beer and hot pie after the game in the clubrooms, cheers.

Hey no worries, always good to have the opposition back to the clubrooms after the game.

On the whole, the Stallions deserved it. If only I had finished my chance in the 1st few minutes it could have been a different story with our tails up!

...oh and if 3 of my lads had actually got some sleep and stopped drinking at 11pm and not 4am, our chances would have been helped!! It was an expensive fining session for those lads!

Well don't today's results shake the top of the table up a bit our other Varsity side took a hammering right proper (did they only have 10 men or something) well done  to Stoke Valley top of the table now
and Marist stuffing the Magpies good effort lads

The Stallions ground out a hard fought 1-0 win against the Ace's, surprised they haven't picked up any points as they are a good side oh and  Onepoto park needs a mow

We were absolute rubbish on Saturday. We conceded two softest goals ever, and played like a bunch of muppets in the second half. Bit frustrating having to watch that from the sidelines.

A very high intensity match between the Aces and Magpies yesterday at the sh*t-heap known as Onepoto Park. After donning the the compulsary 'away strip' of Liverpool-esque all red, we went 2-0 up over the Magpies inside 20mins, which resulted in a few feathers being ruffled in a team that were expecting to walk over us, as everyone this season has done. Tempers flaired in this derby, then the Magpies put a good effort away to end the half 2-1. Both skippers spoke to their teams to calm them down at HT, which resulted in a more productive beginning to the 2nd half for both sides. A few scuffles later and Magpies equalised to make it 2-2, follows by a quick return goal for us Aces to make it 3-2, followed yet again by another hard fought goal by the Magpies to ensure the 3-3 thriller was going to go down to the wire.........until THAT incident

1 of the Howard twins, 1 was off due to cramp, slipped in the bog of the Aces penalty box and from the referee's view it was a penalty, but from anywhere else on the pitch the boy went down due to the inability to stand up! Anyway, the penalty was calmly slotted away and the Magpies nabbed the 3pts they were expecting, but didn't think the Aces were going to give them THAT much fight.

Good game lads, thought we had our first point of the season there.

Yep, there were a few Stallions on the sideline cheering the Aces on Shabba - nothing against the Magpies, but you don't deserve to finish the season winless. Thought the Aces might take it - penalty was more than a bit tough. We were returning from a run on the glorious Endeavour 1 - best late transfer ever. End to end game vs the Cobras, a string of odd calls going both ways made it all a bit confusing and frustrating. Stallions got there in the end though.

Was good to see you boys cheering us on. Nothing like a bit of inter-club support......we get none from the Magpies

Hey shabba121 - overall a fairly accurate review of the match, the conditions were fairly awful and it made it pretty tough for both teams.

A bit of honesty though, as it was me that won the penalty, there was definately contact there. I don't know where you were on the pitch (and I'm interested as to how you know me and my brother btw..?) but if you ask your defender I'm sure he'd admit that he caught my ankle, and with the slippery conditions as you mentioned, it was impossible for me not to go down. Trust me, I f**king hate players who dive, and I pride myself on not doing it. I know you only suggested that I slipped but I assure you that there was contact. I appreciate it must've been heartbreaking for you guys, you've had a rough season and on yesterdays performance you clearly deserve to have picked up a few points. A draw would definately have been a fair result, we were missing a couple of players, but mainly we just played really poorly, and you guys really made us work for everything, so we were very pleased to end up with a win.

Just wanted to give my side of the events, good luck for next season mate.

hey DeludedDude, I know you and your brother through Uni. You both played in our keepers team (Uni Rangers) a coupel years back while I was in the Uni Wanderers side, then we trialled together last season for the Uni 1st XI. I know your good guys, just a bit pissed off at the result. Our defender said he'd touched you while winning the ball, but was adamant that he never clipped you hard enough for you to go down. I'm not suggesting you dived, just that it looked a very lightweight tackle if any. Oh well, we move on and try and get a few points next week against Marist for our last league game of the season.

Oh right, you're Tom then yeah? Sorry, I did recognise you yesterday I just didn't know you were 'shabba121'

As for what your defender said, he didn't get the ball, I'd just turned him on the edge of the box and was aiming to get a shot away and try and grab a heroic last minute winner, but then he caught my ankle and yeah, it wasn't substantial contact I'll definately admit that, but given the awful conditions as well, I had no chance of staying up.
At the end of the day, I didn't give the penalty anyway - the ref did.

Glad to see you playing for Karori anyway mate - a million miles better than uni, I don't know about you but I got sick of being treated like sh*t by Uni as a club? They just don't care about any of their teams beside the top two, or that's how it seemed to me. Josh, your keeper, is a great guy too, he must've had a really hard season, I hope things go better for you guys next year.

Don't worry too much about Josh - he will get that winning feeling back after playing another season with the Uni Stallions cricket team. As for being a great guy ...

Yeh I'd be Tom mate. I left Uni for the same reason last season. The type of players they chose for their squad while over-looking us was a proven poor choice because they got relegated last year. I did get asked to trial with them again next year, but highly doubt it. Rather play for a 'CLUB'. If they can't organise a 3rd team for the players that didn't make the senior squad, and instead just left us to sort ourselves out with regards to trying to find spaces in the social grades or just leave the club = crap organisation if you ask me! No offense 0005

And yeh Josh has had it tough this season, but he's definitely got the talent, just needs the support of a defence that's only just getting itself sorted.

None taken. Club suits us just fine - but the team has been floating around for years, looks after itself in terms of players, kit, sponsor etc. Can't talk for those with a little more umm ambition! Talking about the great club, did the other Uni team in our grade (who i think may play the role of that 3rd team you mentioned Shabba) really drill Marist 5-2 on the weekend?
