That suprised me. You were rubbish when I watched you lose against one of the relagated teams.

absolutely mate!!! but to be fair we lost the last 2 games of the season because (in chronological order) 1) we had won the league the saturday before [it was a double header] and the Hutt City had several first team players in their squad 2) last game of the season we again played vs a team with many 1st team players and they were simply too good.

Nightz, there is, however an exception to this. And it's something that doesn't make sense to me to this day. It was when we lost to the Hutt (at home). We were 1st and they were last if I recall well (or 2nd last). First half we were 3-0 down. I assure you it was an appalling game. On the dying stages of the first half yours truly hit the post and that's when I realized we were not going to win that game.

We eventually pulled one or two goals back but they deservedly won that game. So is that the game you're talking about? Cause the last 2 games of the season hardly count.

Same thing applies to the University team in the play out game vs Island bay. They dropped their ENTIRE 1st team midfield and beat us 2-0. Anyway, I don't want to start another thread.. i.e. there should be more regulations in regards to dropping players from Prems etc!!!
:)

Upper Hutt To win this grade and go straight back up I would say.  To good (big) a club to have there 2nds playing cap 3.

Any tawa players trawling this forum, game versus Wairarapa is at Howard Booth in Carterton, not the oval

Is there any difference?  Both Masterton and Carterton are sh#thole dives!!

2-1, Tawa beating Wairarapa over there. Interesting result?  I would have thought the Rapa would have had a better 2nd team than that, at least to beat Tawa's 3rd's.  Is there no depth at the Rapa club? What's the story there?

Wairarapa 2nds were alright, similar strength to last year's team which finished in around the same position as tawa's 3rds. Would have expected wairarapa 2nds to be a bit stronger this year, but it isn't the case.

Tawa should have been a few goals up after 20 mins. Wairarapa fought back well and were 1 nil up at half time. Tawa then dominated most the 2nd half and went 2-1 up. Wairarapa had a number of chances in the last 10mins but couldn't get the equaliser.

Pretty good game versus tawa. Our first hit out as a team so pretty happy. We should have been stronger but have had our manager and a couple of players pull out so was a bit rag tag for the first weekend. Young guy on the right for tawa was pretty impressive.

Yrapa 2nds shouldn't be there at all. They defaulted too many games last season!
Permalink Permalink
almost 17 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Last year they officially defaulted 2. they were close to defaulting again against my lads - they turned up at Melrose and decided that because the ref hadn't fronted they would refuse to play. My lads took the field and kicked off,  so technically a default. However the Dad of someone just happened to turn up who was a ref in some past life, he agreed to ref after finding out what was going on, so the game then went ahead. My lads just wanted to play so good on them. That would have been their 1st or 2nd default. 3 is where CF take some action I think. Disgraceful all round by Wairarapa really.

fair enough on your comments about the wairarapa team last year. but this year hopefully things are different, new bunch of players who all seem pretty commited.

Lower Hutt 3rds shouldn't be in Capital 3 - They were relegated after finishing third from bottom last year, but they were switched with the Lower Hutt Ancient Ones. And nobody from Lower Hutt told anyone involved with the Ancient Ones that this was going to happen until it was too late. Now the Ancient Ones are in Capital 4 winning games and the 3rd team were thrashed 4-0 last week.

Absolute rubbish from Lower Hutt.

Big improvement from Lower Hutt this week though yates10. Only went down 3 2 to the Waikanae team that was to replace them in the grade.

It still doesn't change the fact that they shouldn't be there.

From what I heard about there game yesterday Upper Hutt are just an old "bunch of has beens" and young " never will be's"

They sound pretty average and will be a long way from winning the league

And they should not have even finished that high - they just dropped players from their Premier side to help them stay up - Ancient One's, despite their age are a far better side (at least 3 or 4 goals a game better than this poorly coached outfit)

So you dont know what you are talking about then.

They train with the 2nd team, who have a new coach this season, which is the some as they did last year.

You should get your facts right before you start slagging people off.

Didnt play well yesterday, but missing 5 players from the first week due to it being Easter.  Also played the 2nd half with 10 men due to one of our players being a idiot and swearing at the ref.

Im still confident that these has beens and never will be's will win the league.

Now you bring up a good point.

How many clubs have "closed shop teams" of older experinced players that could if they wished be helping out the club with bringing younger guys though by playing with them. Most just want to keep playing with their mates and not contribute to the club and the development of youth players in that way.
I'm not going to judge the older guys but I am of the opinion that if the club wants to than let the youngesters play in a higher grade it is the clubs prerogative to do so.

Nightz - why should the Ancient Ones want to contribute to the development of the younger Lower Hutt players when they get treated like crap by the club? They should have contacted the Ancient Ones to tell them what they were going to do rather than doing it sneakily behind there backs. People involved with the Ancient Ones have asked to speak with the Lower Hutt Hierarchy but no one has yet fronted.

I'll agree that have justification for feeling agreived if that is what happened but as a team you need to be asking yourselves "what is a club".

maybe its the club that needs to be asking that question to themselves

The Ancient Ones are willing to have 3 or 4 young guys in the team, but nobody from Lower Hutt has show up for discussin. The Ancient Ones have been a part of the club for 10 years and most of the players have played their whole careers for Lower Hutt.

Surely that deserves better treatment.

I can imagine that most clubs only have 2 teams if that. Once you get past the 2nd team the rest is just a space to dump the "not good enough" players and someone to fund the first teams. It would be nice to see if any first and second team players in any Capital League are paying subs.

Wairarapa United seconds pay subs. Also want to mention the Island Bay boys in this grade. Put on a feed for us after the match from their own pockets. Top effort, was much appreciated.

What were Tawa like then to turn your mob over?  Is that they're seconds or thirds?

Its there 3rd team.  I would call them a avarage capital 3 team.  but maybe they were missing players also.
Permalink Permalink

We (Tawa) were missing a few players, but the team is likely to change a bit week to week so won't be a one-off.

So...we were an average cap 3 team yet you still expect to win the league (which you seem reasonably confident of)??!!  Either you think every team in cap 3 is average (which they are in the grand scheme of things) or you have an over-inflated view of how good your team is
