Hey, neil plays fullback.

Upper Hutt still have to play KCU and Tawa. Win both of those and it's all over rover. I doubt Tawa will have any players dropped to them as they seem to be a stand alone team, and good on them. KCU and Upper Hutt might drop down 3 1st teamers, but that would be it.

Is that because these two clubs second teams are scared of Tawa's third team??  If Upper Hutt or Kapiti go on to win this grade, the team should have enough class to do it on their own merits without bringing in first teamers, as the Tawa boys will do.  I know a few of the lads and they won't be bringing anyone in as they say it would make it a shallow win.

Am I reading this right HB?  You think Tawa will drop first and second teamers to help their thirds?  Highly, highly unlikely as both Tawa first and second teams are still in very important parts of their own seasons.  Anyway, the thirds are doing great with their solid core of lads who have played for them all season.

Good spotting LP1.  Still a little groggy from last night!!  Typo from me, I meant that the Tawa lads will not be bringing in players from higher up the grades.  They have managed to lead the grade after 15 games without them so no reason to change now.

I think what HB is saying is that Tawa won't drop players.  Similar to what I said.

Upper Hutt wont be dropping players,  The squad that has got them this far will be the players that hopefully take them all the way.  And it would be totally unfair on those players that have taken them this far in the season.

I completely agree with you Spurs Crazy. But then coaches, management and committe members might have a diffrent view. I'm not saying this is the case at Upper Hutt, but it could happen.

Well done to the tawa lads.. Great game to watch on saturday and with the field missing the usual mud piles there was a lot more passing around. Game was played at a pretty fast pace. Turning point was a basic mistake from the goalie but unlike the rest of the team if the goalie makes a mistake its usually a goal.. :-) -

3 more games to go - up to tawa now... :-)

I just want to say well done to the BNU lads who got a good 1-0 win against a strong IB team in a good hard faught game that was always going to be won or lost 1-0.

A good second half of the season has seen us move up the table and sort out the rubbish start that we had, shame we didn't figure out our best formation earlier, would have been nice to see how high we could have climbed.

I think I would like to see Upper Hutt win the league, as they try and play good positive football. They have some good young players mixed with a bit of expireance like the old guy up front, a good player who holds the ball up well. I had a good battle with him when they beat us 3-1, we were lucky it we didn't lose 7-1 that day, they destroyed us in the second half.

I wouldn't like to see Tawa win it, as i don't rate them that much, but then again they do seem to get the results and thats what counts.

tawa dont drop players? dan wood? gary romijn? i could name at least another half a dozen that has played for you.... if it came down to the last game of the season and 1sts and 2nds season was over - tawa wouldnt hesitate to use them like anybody else. kidding yourself if you don't think so.

Angus, stop talking absolute cr*p.  We have used Gary once this year against Island Bay.  The day before we had 11 players along with a half injured Dan Wood.  We then organised a college player.  In the morning the 2nds were cancelled so due to our lack of numbers we got Gary to play for us for 60mins before he was shipped off to the 1sts bench.

Dan Wood has played 2 full games for us along with coming off the bench in the game mentioned above.  He played for us the 1st time against Karori because he had hardly played in the past year and wanted a game for someone.  In that game we only had 12 players before getting him as well as a 2nd teamer to sit on the bench for us.  Dan then played for you guys (Tawa 2nds) before coming back to us because he didn't want to play for your team.  He has since got re-injured.  Why wouldn't we use Dan when we have been struggling for fit players some weeks and he wants to play for us?  This isn't a case of using 1st or 2nd team players.

In terms of half a dozen playing for us.  Apart from the examples above we have used 3 other 2nd team players that I can think of for a game or two because they were dropped down to us.  We wouldn't be much of a club if we told our 2nd teamers to go to the 4ths.

In terms of what will happen in the last game when the 1sts and 2nds might be finished we will wait and see.  If we have 11 fit players like we have had some weeks then we would be stupid not to take a 2nd teamer.  Any other club would do the same.  This is not the same as dropping 3 or more of our players to try and win the league.

Just a question to all, how many players has your capital 3 side used this year?? (total number who have got on the field??) please be as accurate as you can. sweepa2009-08-03 21:12:28

angus your a muppet mate.. have to agree with oranje on this one.... we've only ever got players when we're actually struggling to get 11 fit players on the field, other than that its been very rare to have any players dropped down

We've got our 14-15 core team members.  Then used I think 7 other players for between 0.5 and 2.5 games each.  So probably 22 all up

Well if you write nothing of substance, expect to get burned.

what wasnt of substance? youve had plenty of 2nd team players playing for you this year and you have played gary romijn and dan wood - and with 1sts and 2nds not playing on your last game you will bring 3 players in.

how can you deny any of that?

i wouldn't blame ya if you did, do you want to get promoted or not?
when it gets down to the nitty gritty and things are tight , surely you'll do it if on offer. won't ya?

dont worry BBT you wont be offered to keep the bench warm for the thirds.. maybe carry the water bottles.

I think the only reason any 2nd or 1st players will be playing will be if there are more injuries and we dont have 11..
all the current players are doing their job (only team to beat kapiti)!!!!

so what you're saying is that the 2nd team has also been getting 1st team players to help get promoted??? since players like russel and gary have played for both teams?? .... because thats pretty much what you're saying about the 3rsd

Don't forget Mr Piney or todd

so for the seconds we have piney, sean hennessey, dan wood, russell kyne, todd painter, rudi coetzer, gary romijn, and wait for it ZACK all played for seconds. That is 8 players that have played for you Mr Bob sounds like you guys are the real big cheaters. Also maybe Bellman this week.

Like oranje has said all the players bar Gary Romijn have come down because of not being in the second team squad for that week and the Romijn case has been explained. I don't think Dan Wood really counts as being dropped down from 1st team seeing he has played just one game I think in Hilton Petone and he didn't like the second team so played for the 3rds (nothing wrong with that).
So if we are going on your definition on dropping players the 2nd team are the big cheaters.
Angus=Full of sh*t, but love you anyway haha

I hope your right swandry, I think it will be a tight game between us and karori with BNU coming out on top with a 2-1 win.

I think the top three will pick up wins and the Rapa are due some sort of result.

Massive game for us this week, a real 6 pointer. A win (combined with a LH loss) will give us some breathing space over the bottom two. Lose, and well. Let's not think about that. BNU looked to have picked up a few handy results so it will definitely be a tight game methinks.

Although Waikanae have a long trip to get to the Raps, think they will be too good. Tawa should smash LH. Those two results would go a long way to helping us!

Kapiti to beat Island bay ??  - how do you think they will play in the mud?? will certainly be a change to their great ground up there where the ball rolls along the ground..
I think kapiti might find it a bit tougher playing away...

Hmm, what will BobBolton do next year.

Tawa first team will promote to Central League, and get more players
Tawa 2nd team will get more players, thus more competition for places.
Bob will be the first to go from all accounts, the 3rd team dont like him...so where to from here

maybe wests...
