cue joke about me not being a maths student.

this is good news for us, will be interesting to see what our team looks like this weekend. also hope that island bay dont default.

best result for us in the tawa vs upper hutt game would be a draw, giving tawa motivation to beat lower hutt,

Also depends the result on the replay of the Tawa/Lower Hutt game.

Cougars - Lower Hutt have Waikanae at Waikanae, and Wairarapa have island bay magic at home.  Tough ask for us to score heaps this weekend.  Depends on whos available.  Especially with "some of the 2nds maybe playing on Sunday against Olympic for CL"

But Rapa are above LH by one point so if LH lose both of their games Rapa would be in the playoff and LH down to Cap 4, is this not correct?

They had 3 more pionts when I posted that comment.

There's no playoff, its 2 that go down but rumours are more could go down if Capital Football let in the winners of both the Kapiti League and the Wairarapa league.

Both clubs have the option to come into Cap 3, not a case of CF letting them.  Its a by-law in the CF regulations.  Waikanae and Masterton Athletic were asked to fill those positions last year, with Waikanae accepting (obviously).  Spoken to a few of the Douglas Villa players and the club sponsor and they seem keen as mustard.  Problem is that CF want you to confirm in October for the league that starts in April.  Masterton AFC were unsure of the players they had in october let alone April.  Big commitment to make so early.

How often do they have to let these teams in, is it another team every year?

Have a look at the capital football website under documents:League structure:page 4. It states that any district team has a right of entry into Capital 3 if it wins it's local Division 1.  So from the Wairarapa - Douglas Villa have the right to enter 2010 season at Cap 3. Next year it could be Carterton earns the right in 2011 and so on and so on.  Eventually if all teams from the Wairarapa decided to enter over the next 5 years, half the Cap 3 teams would be from the Wairarapa ( provided the teams that are in it stay there).

That would also apply to the Kapiti teams than. Means that there could be as many as 4 teams relegated from this grade each year.

Correct.  I still think there needs to be some sort of playoff game between the region winners and the top relegated team.  For example, if Douglas Villa choose to enter, then the 3rd to bottom team plays them with the remaining 2 bottom teams of Cap 3 relegated.  If Villa win they earn the right to be in it and the 3 to bottom place team gets relegated, or if they lose, they have to go back to local league and try again.  This could happen if Kapiti winners do the same - 4th to bottom playoff.  Although how would you feel if you came 7th out of the 10 and then lost the relegation battle and got relegated.  Seem like you had a reasonable year only to end up in Cap 4!!!

We'd be well gutted if we finished 7th and still got relegated. Although a play off is a much fairer way of doing it than just dropping teams. Did Wairarapa have to play off to get in last year? Look where they have ended up - only off the foot of the table thanks to a win over LH with a stacked team.
Although I am not disputing the rule, I can see no reason whatsover that winning a regional league shoudl give you the automatic right to enter at cap 3 level.

No. Capital football gave dispensation to Wairarapa United when they first looked at getting in.  Take that issue up with CF. There was a spare spot when Wairarapa applied due to Gisborne united dropping their CL position.

As regards to a stacked team, you will find that it was all to the rules and regulations.  Every club does it if one of their lower teams are in relagation battle.  We are one of many that has done it and we won't be the last club to do so.  Lower Hutt had a couple of players too including Pedro Garcias.  They didnt seem to mind.  It was a pleasure playing them.

Bloody hell. Cap 3 could be the new central league div 2. Trips to the Wairarapa, Levin, Kapiti, Waikanae, Seatoun, Island Bay. Players might have to start asking for payments, white boots and hair product.

Mate, I don't have an issue with Wairarapa being in the league, although I bet whichever team made way for them do! Just seems that a playoff would be a fairer system.

The grade is a bit of a travelling road-show though: Kapiti, Waikanae, Upper Hutt and Wairarapa are all decent distances for away games. Although I guess KP (not that we ever play there) isn't exactly central!

Interesting part about that Cougars is that we have to make the trek 9 times over the hill a year.  And we choose to do that without problems.  At least when you travel around the hutt, you are always about half an hour away.  We are half an hour to the bottom of the hill and then the hill and then wherever after that.  You guys only make one trip to the Wairarapa and 2 trips to the Kapiti Coast.  We have to travel from here to the Kapiti twice.  Although does make for a hell of a road trip home.

Eastbourne and Petone were bottom 9th and 10th, cant remember which order.
8th was Lower Hutt (who chose to drop The Ancient Ones).

So Lower Hutt were the ones that made way for Waikanae then.  The previous year when united came back in there was a gap produced by Gisbourne pulling out of CL.  This meant there was promotion down all grades until Cap 3.

So those two got relegated, and us and Island Bay came up in their place. Lower Hutt Ancient Ones made way for Waikanae. Does that mean the three teams got promoted up to Cap 2 last year, allowing Wairarapa to come in? Or was there are 4th team relegated.

Not having a go at you Wairarapa boys - I'm just curious. I agree that you do well to get a team together every other week to come over the hill. Although you knew what you would be in for entering a Wellington league. It was enough of a struggle for us to get over there once! And the Waikanae away game must be a mission.

So a big round of games this weekend, if we beat North Wellington we'll be safe, lose and it's all on. We haven't played them since the 2nd game in the 1st round I think, so can't really remember too much about them...any tips?

My picks for this weekend,

Wairarapa United     _2_    Island Bay Magic     _1_
Upper Hutt City      _2_    Tawa                 _0_
Waikanae             _1_    Lower Hutt City      _1_
Brooklyn Northern    _1_    Kapiti Coast United  _0_
North Wellington     _1_    Karori Cougars       _1_

Going to be tough for us to beat KCU, but we are on form (like the Spurs) at the minute and have been solid at the back.

Upper Hutt beat Tawa 2-1.  Well done to Upper Hutt for winning the league, they deserved the win against us today.  Upper Hutt went 1 nil up midway through the first half before we equalised from a header off a free kick with about 10 to go.  2nd half Upper Hutt really got on top of us and got the winner with 10 minutes to go.

Was tough work for us playing against Wayne Rooker, Lawrence Fay and apparently one or two other first teamers.  In saying that, they still had a much better team then when they played us last time.  So it still would have been a tough game regardless.  May have been a tad closer though without the players mentioned above.

I was really happy to hear of the Upper Hutt result today, but from what Oranje has just said it seems like a bit of a shallow victory if they had to bring in first teamers.  I guess it's in the rules and I'm glad the Hutt side won, but to play against Tawa's 3rd team (i think) and need the likes of Rooker and co show little faith in the team that had already got promotion.

yeah it does. it might have been the case of players not bring available - so filling the breach with first teamers - but i dont think it is. Some poor lads got shafted. It's Cap 3 remember

No play off.

Capital Football rule

9: Promotion/Relagation
Section 4: If a Team winning the Horowhenu Kapiti or Wairarapa Local League wishes to enter the Capital Leagues they have automatic right to entry into Capital 3.

Waikane got entry for this season and the team that finished 8th last season automatically got relagated.

It was a good game.  As for the first team players.  We have had Wayne for the last couple of weeks,  Laurencea for few more weeks as we have been hit by injurys, and he was on the bench.  I was one of the bench players and ive only played a couple of games for the thirds.  So as far as stacking the team goes I dont think thats a fair coment. All the players on the field have been there all year.  We noticed one of your players that had also been in your first team. Spurs crazy2009-08-22 23:10:11
