Upper Hutt To win this grade and go straight back up I would say.  To good (big) a club to have there 2nds playing cap 3.
Wish I could pick the lotto numbers like that.

Yeah except you had a 1 in ten chance of winning the grade if all teams were equal (which they obviously weren't), while in lotto your chances of winning are just a little bit smaller.

Upper Hutt beat Tawa 2-1.  Well done to Upper Hutt for winning the league, they deserved the win against us today.  Upper Hutt went 1 nil up midway through the first half before we equalised from a header off a free kick with about 10 to go.  2nd half Upper Hutt really got on top of us and got the winner with 10 minutes to go.

Was tough work for us playing against Wayne Rooker, Lawrence Fay and apparently one or two other first teamers.  In saying that, they still had a much better team then when they played us last time.  So it still would have been a tough game regardless.  May have been a tad closer though without the players mentioned above.
It was a good game.  As for the first team players.  We have had Wayne for the last couple of weeks,  Laurencea for few more weeks as we have been hit by injurys, and he was on the bench.  I was one of the bench players and ive only played a couple of games for the thirds.  So as far as stacking the team goes I dont think thats a fair coment. All the players on the field have been there all year.  We noticed one of your players that had also been in your first team.

Understandable that if you have been hit by injuries that you would get 1st teamers when they haven't had anything to play for the last few weeks.  But they are 2 of your better 1st teamers (correct me if I'm wrong), not two of your fringe 1st teamers so obviously you have been trying to strengthen your team.

Yeah we had Jason Bellman playing for us from Tawa's 1st team.  He's played for us the last few weeks as he has come back from his O.E and he's not exactly 100% fit so the 1st team wants him to get some game time in, in the hope that he will be fit for them come playoff games.  He was going to play for our 2nds in their playoff game yesterday but apparently he was told he wasn't allowed to.

Anyway as I said you guys did deserve the win regardless and you are by far the best team we have played this season.  Will be interesting in cap2 next year with two tawa teams.  Not the ideal situation, our 2nd team should really be in cap1.

Just a Question?? How many different players did your team use this season?? it will be interesting seeing the difference between the top and the bottom teams, Lower Hutt used 43 different players this season in their cap 3 side, not an ideal situation. How many did other teams use??? sweepa2009-08-23 11:46:02

43!  That definitely isn't ideal.  Tawa used about 23 players with the 14-15 main team members playing most the time.  The others each played around 1-3 games for us when we were short on players/had players dropped down to us.

We would have been around the 22 mark for players used.  3 different keepers. 43 is a huge amount of players to be using. your players would have had to wear name badges each week.

Name badges would prob have been a gd idea, we used 7 different keepers!!!

Really proud of the lads after Saturday's effort - we got stuck in and got the result we needed. Our goal was an absolute screamer from about 35 yards out. Was real backs to the wall stuff, but we got there in the end.
I've said it before, but we would be well gutted to get relegated because a Wairarapa team wants to come up - personally I think that's a bullsh*t rule, but there it is.

We used around 18 regulars, with three ring ins from other Karori teams. We only played a guy from a team higher than us once, a guy from the 2nds. I think that's a pretty good effort really, by and large our squad consists of the sames guys who won us promotion last year. In the face of all this talk of stacking teams, (and before everyone starts moaning, yes I know it's within the rules) I think that's a great achievement.

We used about 20 players, with a few boys floating between the 1st and 2nd, sometimes we had to bring in first team players as both teams were really unlucky with injuries this season, I think we started off with a squad of 35 and at one point we only had 22 players avaliable for both teams.

I just want to say well done to Upper Hutt, best team we played against and deserve to go back to Cap 2.

We was shocking on Saturday, went down 4-1 but it didn't help having half the team hungover and KCU bringing in 6 first team players, but they said this was the only way they could have got a team out because of injuries. I don't care I just want to play football.

See you next year unless we go down aswell.

BNU Bob - You will be happy to know that I spoke to a couple of the Paekakariki players on Saturday at Hullena Park after the Trans Tararua Cup game and they have no intentions of entering Cap 3.  However, Cougars might be the other team that get relegated to Cap 4 as I have spoken to some Douglas Villa players and they are keen as to take the spot in Cap 3. I will all come out in the wash at the end of October.

Cheers TSMA,

Does anyone know if Lower Hutt gets a playoff game with the team that finishes 2nd in Cap 4? because if that is the case then we could have gone down after finishing 7th and lower Hutt gets a second chance to stay up and they finish 9th.

BNU Bob, No playoff with 2nd in cap 4, just 2 straight down and 2 up. If a team from wairarapa want into the cap footy leagues they have the right of entry, so sorry cougars you would be down to cap 4 aswell. Happend to L/Hut last year.

Thought I'd drag this one up from the depths.

Does anyone know what happened with the LH game (was it LH? Can't even remember now!) where they fielded an ineligible player? He'd got a red-card the previous week I seem to remember.

More importantly, does anyone know if the Wairarapa team are going to enter Cap 3 next year, and what this might mean for the Cougars? Greenie can you shed any light on this?

Cap football scheduled the game for Tawa vs Lower Hutt but the match didn't mean anything for Lower Hutt coming 9th or Tawa 2nd. Tawa's committee withdrew Tawa in protest for Cap football not doing anything about the illegal player.

In the end I see that Cap football's final tables awarded Tawa with the victory against Lower Hutt, so Cap football obviously decided that Lower Hutt was in the wrong regardless of the initial match being abandoned.

Thought someone mentioned October as when things would be known re clubs from Wairarapa etc, but perhaps not.

Anyway, will be interested to hear when things are confirmed.

Wairarapa dont have a right to stay there, why would they? however the winner from this years wairarapa league who ever it is has right of entry to cap3 if they choose, that is my impression of what the rules are. does that make sense??

yeah the Rapa team is going to come in (can't remember who is it, maybe Douglas Villa?) so three teams get relegated from Cap3 (and every other division below)

Talking to a guy who is playing for the Rapa this year, they are going to play in Cap 4. May end up with a few more players depending on what player moves are made

Correct Feverish.  Douglas Villa have taken opportunity to come into Cap 3 as it is their right.  Doesnt look good for Wairarapa Football though, this means only 3 senior teams left.  Wairarapa 2nds are in Cap 4.  Should end up with a reasonable team through players coming from top Wairarapa Teams.  Hopefully better than last year.  Also hope more 2nds get run at Central League.  I know it is a big step, but there is players that could do it.  Not make the 1st squad fulltime but maybe a run now and then.

That wasn't Petone Armanis playing Dougi Villa, I believe they're still in Capital Four.

Correct. That would be the Petone 3rd team going to Wairarapa with 7 players.
Petone 1-0 up after 30mins. 1-1 at half time and then 3 goals in last 25 minutes.
