to be honest I think that, for example, if one team went up and one went down it would be a fair compromise (not that we are hoping for such an event to occurr). On the other hand it would be much better if one team went up and the other stayed in cap 2 as it would be much better for player development next year.

it's a long road ahead. we'll see how it goes.

Thats the real reason the seconds won, give them some points so they have a chance of staying up, the firsts will play better this week

Varsity Seconds beating Varsity First is a right chuckle. while that kinda thing happens every thursday at training, to have a first team in the same league as a second team, let alone lose to them, is bloody amusing. Must have been some humour at training on Tuesday.

not really, only a couple of the Gossies were there funnily enough. I agree with you that "it is a right chuckle" though. Unfortunately the club needs to work hard to go back to a more competitive league. Last year's relegation was a hard blow, though it might have been avoided.

Anyone know the result of the Olympic v Gossies game? I take it Dreamers v Uni was postponed due to Chatham Cup?

Thanks to Vistas for a good, well spirited match on Sat at the Bobbledrome. Thought it was a good hard and even match, and we are very happy to come away with 3 points, see you next round at KP hopefully!

Also, assuming that the 2 - 11 scoreline of SO v Mar was not a typo... WTF happened there?
Permalink Permalink
almost 17 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
unfortuntely no typo. 2 nil down within 5 mins due to defensive lapses and the rest fell to bits from there.
Miramar a very good side with heaps of experience that played to their strengths well.
They taught our young side a footballing leason.
lets hope we bounce back next week

No idea how we (Marist) will go vs Uni, we have been up and down and they are an unknown quantity, hope the Gossies get a win vs Mar.

The Gossies are doing very well, so proud!! it's definitely gonna be a tough game.
The first team has finally broken the seal but due to injuries and people having been away, we are having a hard time performing.
But if we play with the same intensity as vs Seatoun, we definitely have a chance. If we sit on our arses and wait, then we're not gonna make it.

fair enough. it was dodgy indeed, sorry about that.
also, 5-1 was a bit harsh on you guys, though i think we could have killed the game in the first 15' of the game but failed to do so and thus we kept you in the game.

tawa have been the only team to put miramar under any pressure so far. the mar had 5 players out due to injury in their 5-1 win over the gossies. going to be tough to stop.

uni put the mar under plenty of pressure in their 4-3 loss where they had a good shout for a pen turned down late on that could have been the equaliser. mar will be hard to stop tho. going to need some upsets, preferably starting with marist this week.

Indeed. We gifted that game with two sloppy passes at the back but we were damaged by questionalbe refrees calls including a penalty in the dying stages (our CB was grabbed and his shirt pulled out of his shorts - only the ref didn't see at thing).

Miramar deserved the point, but they got a good run for their money, that's for sure.

Bobby the Greek to have a nightmare in goal and let in 5 against Tawa. Final score 5-2

Vistas to win one against Seatoun. The return of Slugger Suggate and the world's shortest footballer J Lo will see carnage at Seatoun Pk.

Marist 2 Miramar 1,  good hard game vs the Mar today thought it was going to end in a draw, but (un)lucky oggie in the last five mins sealed it for the green machine.

CMON MARIST - great call from centre back - cross to penalty spot, Marist did and Miramar boy buried it for us, gold

that s a great result for..well everyone but Miramar! they have been really good this season, but with an average age of about 59 hopefully they will start losing a few points here and there during the season.

Well done to marist, they have obviously stepped it up a notch from last week.

Uni Gossies went down 3-0 vs Olympic in what was described as a 'thoroughly ugly' game. Didn't see it so won't comment on it.

Uni 1st team beat Stop Out 2-1. I think Stop Out had a couple of 'better' players, don't know if they were 1st or 2nd teamers, but they did OK. Uni should have closed the game by the end of the 1st half but we just couldn't finish and kept them into the game.

It wasn't a pretty game and funnily enough the winner came from a very difficult play, whereas so many easy goals have been missed throughout the game.

Well done Marist! There is no doubt that Miramar have quality throughout their side but the Kilbirnie outfit ran themselves into the ground and probably deserved all three points.

However, I genuinely do feel a wee bit sorry for the Mar defender who nodded the ball past his own keeper with only a couple of mins remaining.

Actually is was Welly United not Olympic and our guys were very happy with it. We are unbeaten still and play Mar this weekend.

never seen a team so fired up more than marist. deserved the points against mirimar who did not turn up to play. the mar had both strikers and centrebacks away and are back down to earth now. well done marist.

We had a few changes from last weeks squad. one from the 3rds and two from the 1st team squad. One of the 1st team boys was returning from 4 weeks off injured so needed a run. He only lasted 20 mins before doing his ankle again.
It was good to be more competitive but still a long way to go. Our keeper put in an excellent man of the match performance.
I agree you guys could have closed the game down earlier on if you took your  chances. I think your number 9 had the ball saved at this feet twice when he was through one on one. at times we played well and applied the pressure and hit the bar a couple of times.
Another tough one for us this week away to Marist. They will be on  a high after beating the mar last week

you're right it was Welly Utd. I just referred what a couple of people told me. Obviously the Gossies played a big part in the game being ugly - and heard that nobody thought that they deserved to win, so not trying to take anything away from your win.

Should be a great game in the weekend for the top of the table between Mar and Utd. Im predicting a very tough and close game against two of the strongest teams in the league so far

So anyone got a preliminary league table?..it's getting interesting! Our game v Stop Out at the weekend was pretty even; high atttition rate with our Legendary stirker Crowie going off early with a dud hammy and then our captain, Matt the Silent Assasin, getting collected in mid air and getting carted off to hospital with concussion. (NB: Scholesy...Matt foaming out the mouth whilst unconscious does not mean he was holding out on sherbert. Max fine for that Sunshine!)

We scored what were, in all honesty, a couple of soft goals and then defended reasonably soundly, Stop Out are better than their league  position suggests I think.

Does anyone have a draw for next weekend? What is going on at Capital Football? Are our subs not adequately greasing the wheels of football administration industry?
