Been interesting seeing pre season Hilton. Seatoun look like they will struggle big time with Te Kotahitanga just ahead of them.

Lower Hutt and Stop Out look strong.

Will the CL2 playoff be the highest ranked non reserve team in the Cap Prem?
06 Mar 02:30
Yep, as I understand it. A playoff from the winners of a playoff between western and pacific premierships

Come on Upper Hutt, show some form and Ladder climb.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Aren’t Upper Hutt in the CL? Wrong thread. Unless your just preparing for their return next year
06 Mar 23:07
They have recruited well! Well, lots of new faces! But yea…… wrong thread!

Sorry Guys, I was forever hopeful.

FC Western at home in round 1 to Taradale.

Haven't been to Lynmouth Park so might do a roadie on the 29th.

Full time Taradale 4 VIC Uni 1
Seatoun 2 NP 1
Te Kotahitanga 1 Gizzy 0

Douglas Villa and Havelock in to extra time

Makes it an easy choice for me to now throw my hat in with FC Western for next season!

Just looked and it seems I don't have work that weekend (yay!) so will probably mosey on down.

Haven't heard too much out of Western so far this year, but I hope they can give the CL2 a good shake on behalf of the region.

Sorry Guys, I was forever hopeful.

I’m sure they would like some new support in CL

Much will depend on how the Wellington teams travel. If they are leaving early on the morning of the game to travel to places such as Hawkes Bay and Taranaki it will be tough grind.
08 Mar 08:16
Which teams play on Turfs?
I’d say that would be a challenge for Taradale and Western.

Guessing douglas villa, PN Marist and Lower Hutt?

Douglas Villa only sometimes on turf.

Lower Hutt best Stop Out yesterday so based on those results will be the pick of the Wellington teams

wow, that's an interesting result

Without basing my guess on much knowledge at all, I would guess Lower Hutt and Stop Out will be the teams to beat. Possibly P/Nth Marist. Certainly going to be an interesting league to follows

Driving down to Wngtn this week, staying Karaka Bay. Two weekends too early for Seatoun v Lower Hutt City. Bummer. Maybe they'll be playing a pre-season friendly? Then to the local fish 'n chippie, which is excellent.
15 Mar 05:47
Tawa beat Petone at the Hilton today. Maybe they will be a contender for CL 2

Actually finished 2-2.
15 Mar 07:33
So it was! My bad. Tawa still a contender if pre-season is anything to go by

Of the capital sides, my guess is
1 Stop Out
2 Lower Hutt
3 tawa
4 Douglas Villa
5 seatoun
6 TK

15 Mar 09:14
i think might be slightly tough on Douglas Villa there.
15 Mar 23:24
1. Lower Hutt
2. Tawa
3. Stop out
4. Douglas Villa
5. Seatoun
6. TK

Here’s my guess for the final standings.

1. Stop Out
2. Tawa
3. P/Nth Marist
4. Douglas Villa
5. Seatoun
6. Taradale
7. Lower Hutt
8. TK
9. P/Nth United
10. FC Western

That guess is based on very little. Only thing I’m confident about is that the league will be relatively tight. Maybe with one team running away with it and one team being terrible.
16 Mar 21:17
So hard to compare the Capital sides with the Central sides at this stage.

I would put Seatoun at the bottom of the capital sides along side TK. I would consider Seatoun as primary candidates for relegation.

Palmerston North is my pick. They ran Napier close in a pre-season game.
19 Mar 05:14
I would like to see either of the Palmy teams or FC Western win it. Then go on to do really well in Div 1. New Plymouth/Taranaki and Palmerston Nth both have populations  of around 100k and both have underperformed for years if not decades on the national level. IMO it's about time they got their act together.

20 Mar 22:07
Marist vs PNU in the Chinese Cup on Saturday 2:30pm at Memorial Park.

I've been told Marist have brought a bunch of imports in to try and have a crack at promotion. How true that is remains to be seen, but should be a good battle tomorrow.
22 Mar 06:25
3 - 0 win for Marist. Score a lot closer than the game, they were miles better than a PNU team who seemed to be missing a few
22 Mar 07:38
Help me understand how you think Seatoun is primary candidate for relegation?

They said they used 33 players in their four Hilton games which ain’t a good sign for them. Think they lost them all too? No idea if they are any good to not, though you’d think the Capital sides would be better than then Central generally.

Yep. As above, purely based on pre-season results. I did watch them play against a young Miramar team as well.

Do you have another opinion?
23 Mar 06:14
I just can’t see how Hilton Petone and pre-season can say much about the season ahead. I think Seatoun played their reserves team for a large chunk of those games.

Based on the playoffs last year, the lower Central teams will be at the bottom of the heap. My pick for the Capital teams are:
1. Stop Out
2. Tawa
3. Lower Hutt
4. Seatoun
5. TK
6. Douglas Villa

Well, pre season is the only thing to base it on….. that and last years results. Which would see them battling with TK for bottom spot from Capital teams.

I know DV have a few new players including two from Karori.

But good luck to them. I’m excited to watch some of this league

Exactly. And Seatoun is a team that should be using the Hilton to put out their best team on the eve of the season.
Haven’t TK been having a shocker?
Who from Karori is at DV? How has DV even got up there? last I saw of them they were  kicking around in capital 3

Luke Rodgers and Nahum McPhee two fringe Central League players are back there.

I think DV picked up a few of the leftovers from Wairarapa. They beat Havelock Nth in the playoff last season. I would say they will be better than TK for sure, although TK do have the TDP bringing new players in all the time.

DV lost the div 2 semi against Nix 4ths. Very handy on the counter, and were 3-1?up at halftime.

DV deffo deploying the long throw. 4th ish  of the capital sides feels about right.
