Lower Hutt losing their way. FC western go out the front if they win tomorrow huh. Such a tight league.

Anyone know who the new Seatoun coach is

Hilly

Good old Hilly

I tried to look it up, Capital Football's results page says Terry Douglas.

Hilly's a strange nickname for a Terry.
James Hill.

Shout out to Luis Corrales from Stop Out for filling me in on CL2 stuff last night at the game. Even gave me the Western result before I'd seen it up on tribe. Talked to him for what must've been a solid hour or so which was awesome!

Said there's no reason why Western can't win it all and go up from here, but that it's also likely to come down to the last game of the season which would also be a great spectacle for the new league too.

And now LHC can say goodbye to promotion. Wonder what happened there.

I have no way of knowing this on a personal level, but from my chat up above from the Wrexham game last weekend the LH coach is a recently new parent from about 4-5 weeks back, so his focus has ultimately been elsewhere. A possible explanation into the drop off, although I didn't think it would be so dramatic...

Just Western, Stop Out, Tawa + PNU in the race now?

Western conceding a stoppage time goal to draw 2-2 with PNU in today's early kickoff, but they'll still sit top at the end of 14 rounds though.

**Edit**
Stop Out beaten 3-1 by Douglas Villa though!

Western widen the gap at the top ever so slightly to 4 points (curse that late PNU equaliser!)

Stop Out keeper with a straight red I see. Plus another red later on.

Whanganui Athletic vs Havelock North in the playoff for promotion from Western and Eastern Prems. Winner goes to a two-legged playoff with top finishing 1st team in Cap Prem.

Can't speak for Havelock North but Athletic whilst a good set of footballers are an absolute set of dickheads. Enjoy!

Interesting , what makes you say that about the Athletic players?
When and where is that playoff match vs Havelock?

Got to hold my hands up to them they are far and away better than anyone else in the Western Prems, not sure importing a whole team is going to be worth it in the long run, but you can't argue with their results.

They are not fun to play against. They take the elbows, off the ball crap, and general nonsense shark-talk to the next level. A few of the imports love to roll around screaming when they get tackled which always winds me up. That said there's a couple of nice lads in the mix too.

Still three weeks to go in the Western Prem, so after then, I'd imagine it'd be at Memorial Park in Palmy as its a single leg.

Jamie Dunning (Taradale DOF) is off to be Newcastle Jets Women's assistant coach.  That will leave a massive hole at Taradale for next year.

It’s hard to say how the two league winners go against each other.

I didn’t think Havelock were that spectacular at all this year. But they, better than any other team in the east were consistent and managed to grind out results. The league was extremely tight overall, despite havelock running away with it at the end, I think almost all teams other than Old Boys who pulled out, managed to beat at top 3 side at some point.

Havelock will be very tough to beat, well drilled and very good at keeping opposing teams out of games. They probably won’t buy into any bullshark the opposition throw at them.

Douglas Villa 2 - FC Western 1.
3 rounds to go, and that leaves the top 4.

FC Western          29
Stop Out               28
Palmie North Utd 27
Tawa                     26

TK have been relegated.

Going to be a crazy last few rounds.
Fc Western play
Tawa (H)
Taradale (A)
Stop out (A)
2 hard matches were it is unlikely but not impossible to see them drop 6 points - going down to DV on today doesnt fill me with confidence

Stop out Play
PMN (A)
Tawa (H)
Fc Western (A)
again 2 hard matches but a strong preformance against seatoun on saturday

PNU play
Seatoun (A)
DV (H)
PNM (H)
can very much see them getting 9 points here and their 12 goal win this week puts them second on gd behind stop out but i could see them nearing that gd if they continue to play like they did vs Te K as they by far have the best fixture remaining.

Leaving... Tawa
Fc Western (A)
Stop out (A)
DV (H)
They need to go 9/9 to have a realistic chance

Fingers crossed that results go on to mean it's all to play for in the last match of the season between Stop Out and Western. Not sure my nerves would hold but a one off has a certain appeal. 🫣🫣
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

would love a match where the winner goes up or if its a draw pnu or tawa could sneak top spot... could see tawa taking at least a point off either of western or SO so going to be very close

Douglas Villa are the giant killers huh. Stop Out and FC Western both went down to them

I wouldn’t be calling Stop Out or Western giants by any means. But yes, they have taken crucial points off some of the top teams.

Ive seen a few DV games this year and a number of games could’ve gone their way, which would see them in a distinctly different league position.
09 Aug 04:50
Seatoun 3 - 1 PNU
PNM 3 - 1 Stop Out
Lower Hutt 0 - Douglas Villa

Good set of results today by all. 😁

Western v Tawa tomorrow in New Plymouth.

Great competition this has been. Have enjoyed following along and getting down to games (when I can) more than following a pretty predictable Central League proper.

How good would a Tawa win be today. Douglas Villa have joined the title race and who says they couldn’t do it?! All of the top 5 teams are to play each other also.

I watched PNU yesterday, they were very disappointing. The score line was a pretty fair reflection of the game, especially the first half.

FC Western 2 - Tawa 0.

4 point lead to western. They can win the league with a win when away to Taradale next week.

Either Western or PNU to get promoted. That wasn't expected. I think having Western go up will be best for CL (just because NP is a cool place to visit) however glad it's a Central team being promoted rather than another Capital one.
16 Aug 20:31
I assume Stop Out will be disappointed and Lower Hutt closed the season terribly.

All down to the last day huh?! Exciting league this has turned out to be. I’m glad to see a Central Fed team make it in.
17 Aug 08:12
How good it it 2 central teams at the top! Many on here wrote the central teams off before the season kicked off. Guess capital not as strong as some like to think.

A number of stronger capital teams. They just play in a lower division.

Comet says:

06.09.2025 14:45 |  Wembley Park Seniors | Wembley #1 |  GJ Gardner Homes Whanganui Athletic - Wainuiomata AFC

13.09.2025 14:30 | Richard Prouse Park | Richard Prouse 1 | Wainuiomata AFC - GJ Gardner Homes Whanganui Athletic

03 Sep 06:59
Could be an interesting watch….. Richard Prouse will be pumping.
06 Sep 03:39
Wainui lead at the break thanks to Flynn McCaul’s early header. They also had a 2nd ruled out for offside and Whanganui had a goal disallowed for handball.
I'm an optimistic pessimist.
I'm positive things will go wrong.
06 Sep 04:40
Whanganui scored 15mins to go to make it 1-1 then twice in last 5mins to take the first leg 3-1.

All still to play for next week at home for Wainui.

Wainui win 4-1. What a meltdown by Whanganui.
13 Sep 05:32
I watched this, not a great spectacle even though it was a stunning day. Both sides pumping long balls and hoping for errors. Wainui scored two off corners and one soft penalty. Can’t imagine they will cause too many headaches for the rest of the league unless they are able to recruit.
