ps if all the pitches were like Endeavour Park, then all the poor sods in Wellington could have had a game.

ummmmm, the last time i read the rules grabbing somebody by the back of the head and pushing thier head into the turf was a dismissable offence.  Pelter had already been straight through Hicham from behind twice before that happened.  Doesn't excuse any retailiation from WU, but don't paint Pelter liilly- white, thats b*llocks.

Wests have some real talent in there, WU keeper had to make some cracking saves from top drawer Wests efforts.  Wests deserved the win, looked dangerous on every attack and WU just seemed to forever be playing catchup.

Pelts was already on a yellow when he retaliated, and probably deservedly so - in the first half he put in a couple of "agricultural" challenges on Hicham, so I'd have to agree with mumbino on that one.  It was a pretty cowardly kick out at Pelts by Hicham to get his red card and Pelts reaction would have probably earned him a yellow had he not already been booked, so I think, all-in-all, the ref got that one right.

Pelter should be embarrassed by his reaction to the ref after being sent.

Well, what Pelter did didnt seem to justify a straight red card to me, and he was provoked terribly by the guy taking a mighty swing at him.

Yeah, he had been deservedly booked before, but that is irrelevant - he was given a straight red not a second yellow.

Newbie, What were you watching.  obviously you were watching a completely different game to what everyone else was watching.  end of the day from what we saw from the crowd, hicham lashed out at pelter and pelter retelated which is just as bad if not worse than the initial incident.  wainuis finest2009-06-28 17:51:28
If, as you say, it was a straight red, then I agree it was harsh for Jack's reaction.  I'm not condoning what he did - he deserved to get booked for it and, consequently, a red card from the second yellow.
Newbie, your a twat.  obviously you were watching a completely different game to what everyone else was watching.  end of the day from what we saw from the crowd, hicham lashed out at pelter and pelter retelated which is just as bad if not worse than the initial incident.
Absolutely disagree that what Pelter did was worse than the initial incident.  Hicham's kick out at Pelter was petulent and cowardly and he deserved a straight red.  As I said, I'm not condoning Pelter's reaction, but a push (not a punch or a kick) is no way worse than the incident that gave rise to it.

(By the way, the abuse aimed at Newbie was probably a bit unnecessary, wasn't it?)

Overall, I think a bit more balance is needed here.  On the one hand, Newbie seems to be suggesting that Pelts was hard done to and Hicham was the villain, whereas wainuis finest is almost of the completely opposed view.  I think somewhere in the middle is probably about right - both players got what they deserved for the incident itself and some of the aggro that preceded it.

Bannatyne had a shocker. Andrew Abba with 3. Rovers played Petone off the park.

Ruthless.

As for Olympic v Miramar well what a game. Not as good as when they play at centenial but ahwel, newtown should still be good. Im predicting 2  - 2, with olympic to lead the entire 2nd half 2 1 up, with a soft goal by miramar to equalise. Referee will once again need to let things go in this match, otherwhys wel be seeing a few reds. Peno in this game..surely.. Miramar got a few last year, wont be suprised if they get one this weekend.

I hope you werent celebrating with the rest of the Olympic team - as you made it clear the other week that draws shouldnt be celebrated

Are you trying to compare scoring a equalising goal in a derby match to keep yourself alive in the title race...

...with the All Whites celebrating getting a point over iraq like they had won first division lotto?

Hmm.

Anyway on the game: Thought it was well battled and a draw was a good reflection of the game. Dominic Rowe was non existing for them and stand outs were Allan Chote and Brian Little. For us id have to say Barry, Jamie, and Churchy, also notable mention for v.Hat in goal.

If we didnt give the ball away so much and capalized we could have taken all 3. But then again could of gone both ways.

If someone tries to cut a chunk out of you like that, I think a a certain reaction is understandable. Ok I wasnt as close as the ref, but I saw as it did other spectators.
Im not gonna react to Wainui's crap

I think bith players probablt deserved to get sent off.  On a side note, both players won't be missing a game. Hichim is on holiday next weekend and Pelter is off to bradford for a trial (which probably explains why he reacted the way he did).  However, Pelter should be disappointed in his reaction to the ref after being given the red.  Calling the ref  'a f**king disgrace'. followed by another 6 or so f bombs is not on.

I agree that both players deserved their reds (be they straight reds or second yellows).  I was on the other side of the pitch so didn't hear exactly what Pelts said to the ref after he was sent off but it sounds like his reaction was definitely unacceptable.

Anyone else think that  Olympic/Miramar wasn't up to much and a bit of a disappointment?
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

What's up with the pitch at Newtown park? It was horrible...I reckon Miramar will be spewing with that result.

Using the phrase "games of football" quite loosely...
