I would assume travel will be included in the contracts, I think now it's no secret that Dion Adams has some money to play with.

I also heard similiar for Raf and Fifi to Maycenvale. I take these stories as rubbish as they normally come from the club who have lost the players.

Or their mates, who you'd think wouldn't make up porkies.

These clubs have earned themselves reps as big spenders over the past few seasons, I believe it.

I Struggle with this sort of money being paid for a comp which gives you nothing if you win it except a bit of pride. I don't blame the players for taking what they can get but for the betterment of the game the money could be spent more wisely and everyone has to take an interest is this because we are heading down a slippery slope. Who would have thought the Otago Rugby Union would have the money issues it has, yes its been going on a while so some could argue we have not hit that time yet. Simply I see like this, we (football clubs)  live on the pokie money, clubs have lost the fundraising activities of old so what happens when the pokie money dries up? Its also paying people to run clubs, are we losing the volunteers because people expect to be paid to doing things they used to do off their own back. Intresting to see Petone running sausage sizzles at the Hilton to raise funds, is that a lesson for us other clubs? The game we all love is not as it used to be and I fear for its future. Perhaps this is a good topic on its own rather than CL. Any thoughts anyone or an I just a rambling old fool living in the dark ages?
So many questions!

If Keinzley or his local community want to spend $ on making a good footy team then let them

Keinzley has pulled together support from the customers he has built up over so many years of being in business, and he has done a good job of this, both building a very successful business, as well as trying to achieve pride within the community with aiming to win Central League and the Chatham Cup. He succeeded in the Chatham Cup by doing what he does best. Pulling money out of his wallet/business to acheive this. Not 1 cent of pokie Money is used in this venture. This however poses its own problem. If Phil was to pull out (which he has threatened to do for years), what happens to the club Structure that is Wairarapa United. The same thing would happen if this venture was funded by the Pokie machines and the funds dried up. I agree with Feverish, if the Businessman and the Community support this, then let it be

Yeah Gisborne City's money dried up and now they basically no longer exist. I bet now those people think if they spent all that money more wisely (build from the bottom up etc) they would still have something in the way of a football club they could be proud of. I have no problem with spending money but throwing big amounts at players is a quick fix and when the money goes so do the players.

I think all clubs spend money...I don't think any club can come on here and say that they don't spend money on players, and certain players get a whole load of money. Even clubs like Wellington United would be spending a whole heap of money on a couple of players.

I think what annoys people about this whole topic, is the secrecy that surrounds it. If the clubs just came out and said "yea sure we pay players, we think its worth it to have a good team" then people would stop complaining.

But personally it seems silly to be spending those numbers mentioned to do well in a comp where there is no chance of recouping that money. I don't know who at Welly united would justify large sums

Would be interesting if we see him back this season, his value has jumped a lot over the past 12 months. His heart is at WU but everyone has their price.

You are correct Feverish and if he can get a similiar deal elsewhere he intends to never come back.

It seems like there is zero loyalty from players at Miramar? (not all) Interesting...

Have only seen Olympic in preseason hilton and they seem very strong with Abba and Jimmy up front

International Transfer - Wairarapa United - Brian Kaltak - Transfer Pending - Requested 26/03/2012.

Was Wharfies stand out player last season in Capital Premier. Another good signing for Wairapa United.
Backing him to make the step up and make an impact on Central League.

A lucky club is going to acquire a very talented scouse - watch this space, wherever he ends up he will do extremely well.
