I am predicting that Wharfies will have the Premier Division wrapped up by a third of the way through the season, so will be promoted early.  They will then win the Central League, gaining enough points in the last 2/3's of the season.
Shaky start then!   0-5 loss to Upper Hutt

Checked Capital Football fixtures. No game for Miramar and Maycenvale this weekend. Could be due to Team Wellington continued NZFC involvement.

Also sounds like Dave Farrington out of action until June. Indication was that Miramar would play more away games in the first part of the season and then home games when Dave Farrington is up and running again.

wouldnt think Mar would get a postponement due to TDub?

Mar have got a postponement due to TDub given by new CEO. Opened a real can of worms for the future.

Don't believe Wairarapa have a show this weekend. Nine first team players missing. 3 from the islands, 4 in the national league and 2 with carry over suspensions from last season.

Does anyone reckon there should be some kind of Champions League-ish type comp setup among, say, the top two finishers of Southern, Central, Northern leagues? Would be cool if there was another piece of silverware aside from the Chatham cup that could be contested among the very top club sides in NZ.

Currently you win the Central League, and thats that. Or you win the Northern League and thats that. Would be good to see these sides pitted against each other AJ132012-04-11 10:03:03

Wests have signed 4 national league players in the last two days...albeit 3 from manawatu. I would imagine they will finish higher than people think

Some interesting movement at the start of this week:

Josh Chettleburgh to Western Suburbs
Michael Fraser to Western Suburbs
Tomas Mosquera to Western Suburbs
Connor Tinnion to Western Suburbs
Daniel Minshull Olympic to Wellington United

Mar game next week against Petone also deferred? What a joke if this is correct.

Can someone confirm that is the reason why the games have been postponed? If it is because of players not being able to play because of team wellington then that is not fair at all. You don't see Wairarapa getting there games postponed

Yeah we have Mar this weekend, they are a better side but no doubt their firsts will get a run. Ours will be playing their first game like everyone else. Please explain cap footy.

For the record Petone didn't play many if any firsts against us on sat.

Fuck this stupid game

If this was not a scheduled game for this date as per sporting pulse - who would have been playing Petone and Miramar on the 21st?

Check the Senior Regulation for 2012. Special Regulation in place to stop Miramar playing  there entire Central League side against you.

ii) In 2012 only three 3 players who play in any match before and

including Friday 13

th April can play in a Central League team on

the first weekend of the Central League.

Phil K Palmer/Tinkler in diguise !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think $100k budget was being kind to Keinzley.
With the figures I have heard mention a $200k budget is probably more realistic.
Especially if Rapa have signed Clapham.

If this is anywhere near the truth, and where theres smoke theres fire, this amount of money being spent on players in what is an AMATEUR competion is ridiculas.

I think its been said on this thread previously but wouldnt this money be better spent on junior development among other things in the Rapa area.

I challenge Phil Keinzley to front up over this, but I'd bet he wont have the balls.

I must say I have no club alligance with this but I did spend 12 odd years in club administration, I opposed this sort of thing then and I still do.

I bet the tax man might have an eagle eye on this situation.

Word on the street ( Football circles) is that Rapa have spent between $50k and $60k on just 4 players. Three from Team Wellington players and a certain Scouser (who at one stage looked set for Petone).

One would expect that current players like Cowan, Rabo, Soroman, Ishi, Higham, Moya will not have come back for peanuts.

Add to that  the other recruits of Kaltak, Naqeleca and potentially Clapham and it easy to see that spending on players will be substantial.

Money that could do so much for Grass roots football in Rapa. In fact with that money they could create there own Academy and develop a long term player base for the Rapa.

Question has to be what happens when Keinzley gets bored and packs it in again ?.

Another question is do Capital and Central Football need to set spending gaps for Central League?
