looks like splashing cash, bigger budget then HBU would have looking at who they have signed.

Good to see an authoritative statement that NCR is "splashing cash".   If you have a look at the last financial statements for the Club, you will see that there isn't a hell of a lot to splash.   As the Finance Manager, or Treasurer, of the Club, I can assure you that we are not splashing cash in order to put together a team.

Have you ever thought that perhaps players do come here for reasons other than dollars - climate, great facilities, qualified and energetic coaching, a club with tradition and values - to name a few.   Believe it or not, we have several players here for those reasons.

Bill Robertson works to a very small playing budget.   Because of travel, our costs are high so we have to make do with a lot less than other clubs.   Not complaining, just explaining and happy with our lot.

It is very much an iconic club from 'old days' that still performs well and attracts players to the region. You certainly could not say 'well I am attracted to playing for Glenfield/Wairarapa because of its history, facilities and the coaches' thats for sure. Those clubs are about money money money.

Wairarapa won't be like that this yeari wouldn't have thought.

Ifill would take up a fair amount of the previous seasons' budget and they will attract players by him alone

Could be wrong but hearing PNM vs City rovers this Saturday in a pre season friendly.  Although wont really be a fair assessment of city rovers due to the ASB prem semi finals and players out for that.

Just looking at the Wairarapa FC listing on Capital Football to find the clubrooms is listed as a Pub.(Horse and Hound ph: 06 377 5033) Hope this is an error or it could kill any pokie money applications.

Depends, might be an un-related pub.

The rules in the sector are hardly clear, or well enforced, either.

did research 1st,  pub is a gambling venue but I Believe DIA say No Clubrooms to be in a bar.

CF website out of date is my honest opinion but with the DIA reviews of Charity funding of sport, no one can be to careful.

I remember the the days MC clubs funding was 50% money 50% beer vouchers never to be used.

this was posted on NW Facebook site.

"Congrats to our men's first team beating Lower Hutt (central league) in a pre-season fixture 2-0..... Great stuff lads roll on the season!! (Goals Rayner and Tyson) NICE!!"

so if they can beat a Central league team with there young not paid a cent first team why do you need this pile of cash from pokies????

something has badly gone wrong somewhere in this picture.

good sportsmanship and fair playing field is all we ask for

but all we get is talk and goal posts moving

Can I just say that I would very much like more of this sort of baiting and anger in this thread this year:

http://www.yellowfever.co.nz/categories/regional-f...

Back to the good old days of the forums: fake accounts, thinly veiled accusations, insults flying, and much inter-club hatred. Wellington is just too bloody nice these days.

Friday:

Must be Wairarapa vs Miramar. But, it is on the other side of a big hill.

Other options ; Wests - LH, or The Greeks - Palmy.

Monday ;

Miramar - Napier , no doubt.

Going to do it tough tomorrow - have around 5 would-be starters missing with HBU.  Also, player/coach still with TW.   Will be an interesting test of our depth.

I wish you all the best.

Having spent most of my summer driving to Napier and back (to Welly) to watch the HBU games, the region and people grew on me. NCR are now my 2nd favourite team in the CL.

Satisfactory win to NCR over Stop Out this afternoon - 3-1 after being 1-1 at half time.

Where do we find the results for the Central League - there is nothing on the Capital Football page under "Central League" (just last year's results), or am I looking in the wrong place.

Yes, no results on the CF page yet.

I think these are the final results (from Twitter).

Greeks - Palmy 1:2

Wests - LH 2:0

Tawa - Petone 0:4

Wairarapa - Miramar 1:0

NCR - SO 3:1

I'd say Palmy were lucky to get an under-strength Bubbles, Rapa lucky to nab the points in a game that had a lot of players missing from both sides, and Stop Out will be very disappointed with that debut result.

But otherwise, pretty much according to the form guide. Lower Hutt and Tawa probably the bookies' faves for the cellar.
