2-1 to Petone I hear

Yes, it was 2:1 to to Petone. Wests (especially in the 2nd half) had a few young OLE players on the field. Doubt they will play much during the regular season.

apart from the young ole guys and Aaron Jones any other new players there for wests?

The rumour is they are going to sign a striker and a midfielder from Auckland , but cannot remember their names, sorry. Also, they are losing Sean Morris, who played for them last season (and for Hawkes Bay in ASBP).. He is going to Auckland City to play for them in the O-league.

Tyler Lissette?

Not sure...Sorry.
They had a new midfielder in their game against Stop Out (3:2 to SO). He is an English lad, think the name is McCormick. Looked good.
Wests again made 7 or 8 subs early in the 2nd half and gave a chance to their young players.

Greeks seem to be cruising along comfortably and will challenge again for the title. Wests have done a full loop and will be chocker full of Ole lads. Miramar will be chock full of players from other clubs and will do well. Can't see anyone being a surprise package. Maybe Petone.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Agree, think Olympic and Miramar will be the pace setters. Wairarapa will be strong if Keinzley can pull them together as a group. Petone, Wests, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt haven't really settled on starting lineups from what I've seen but aren't looking too bad. Haven't seen anything of Napier or Palmy Marist.

At a guess I would pick:
Miramar
Olympic
Wairarapa
Petone
Palmy Marist
Napier
Upper Hutt
Lower Hutt
Wests
Tawa

I would think Wests would do better than that. Hard not to see Miramar winning it.

I doubt Petone will be that far down the table. Wests probably were too low on my list but it depends if they play the youngsters again or if they go for more experience. I haven't seen them play yet this preseason so have nothing to base them on.

Have UH done any recruiting over the offseason?

Not sure about the UH. But, I think Wests will do Ok. Their pre-season results are :
4:2 win against Olympic ( they didn't experiment much in that game, the young players played only the last 10 or so minutes), 3:2 win against Karori (a terrible 1st half, 2:0 down, but a great 2nd half and in the end a 3:2 win),  lost 2:1 to Petone , not their best performance and the youngsters played a lot in that one, a 3:2 loss to Stop out. Very similar to the Petone game, played Ok-ish , but again  the young players probably spent too much time on the field.
And when I say "young players" I mean "really young" - 16 yrs old (I think some are even 15). Even in their first 11 the half of the team will be teenagers (Cory Brown, Riley Kelliher, Alex Palezevic, Noah etc.)

In that case yea, they should definitely be at least 3 places higher.

Yeah 1-0 last week but as with all pre season stuff, don't read too much into it.

Pn Marist seem to be struggling in pre season. Best team on paper that they could hope from players available in the region, but players taking awhile to gel.

Huge task first up against Olympic though.

Upper Hutt have signed a Scottish bloke. First run last night. I did not see much but he scored a  good goal and looked pretty useful.

Teams picked after training Thursday's (keeps them working for a spot) so all options have to go on the schedules that have to be in on Wednesday.

but this is just my gut feeling as i have seen no form info that i would trust

good sportsmanship and fair playing field is all we ask for

but all we get is talk and goal posts moving

This weekends results will have no impact on the season outcome.

Well that's wildly untrue.

They're playing for competition points after all aren't they?

If any team is above another by the points they gained this weekend, then this weekend has had an impact - same as any weekend.

Profound statement Blew 2. I observe that you and Tegal were up all night thinking about these results. What are you going to be like at the end of the season.
Personally I think this year is going to be a good competition with quite a few of the teams capable of taking points off the supposedly "Big Two", as was the case last year. And for the midtable battle, the Napier v UH and LH v Wests games could mean the difference in finishing 4th or 9th.

Some poor 17 year old was probably tucked up in bed at 9.30pm and up at 6am cleaning his boots in the hope that the coach may pick him ahead of you. Disgraceful example. Both of you, for the good of the game, please desist from this behaviour until the end of August.
