Not sure if serious.

But I'm not playing today.

Profound statement Blew 2. I observe that you and Tegal were up all night thinking about these results. What are you going to be like at the end of the season.
Personally I think this year is going to be a good competition with quite a few of the teams capable of taking points off the supposedly "Big Two", as was the case last year. And for the midtable battle, the Napier v UH and LH v Wests games could mean the difference in finishing 4th or 9th.

Now your thoughts after day one?

Yeah, still stick with the same theory Blew. Wairarapa were one of the front runners last year and will probably be there or there abouts this year. Therefore for Miramar to get three points today, they have already put 3 points between them and one of their challengers.
Given Wests have a few to come in and got an away win against a team that will be close to them most of the season, this was a key result.
Olympic needed three points against unknown opposition to be up there from the start and so did Petone with  three of the next four games against Oly, Wair and Mar, so Yeah, today may well have an impact later. If you think this league is going to be won or lost on the two games between Olympic and Miramar, then you are probably underestimating the strength of the other eight teams.

Any comment on the Olympic game? Palmy park the bus or actually quite good?

A fair report on this game would help but I believe we are in a year where Amy team can climb to the top. Some will start slow as players settle.

Miramar are certain then on any basis, cash, depth and quality.

I don't really see much difference in Miramars squad then they have had from the last couple of years. The same solid squad of players with a couple of new and young guys chucked in. Any team with Halstead, Banks and Rowe up top are going to cause trouble.

Watched the first 45 of the Bubbles game and it was pretty even and pretty awful.  Olympic struggling in midfield and with a little more thought Palmy could have been even with them at the break.

Players you would have thought would have been stand-outs for Olympic were having an off day.  No Halikias, Lewis senior (Clayton wearing his fathers number, which was nice) and of course Neoknakis.  Mick Waitt was away for his father's funeral and they were using their 3rd choice keeper.

They would be pretty glad to get the three with the odds against them but as I said pretty awful football.

Lower Hutt lost 2-0 to Wests, who played a M Fraser (he scored one of Wests two goals)  and he had a one match suspension in place from last year.  Table has not been changed to reflect it, but I understand Lower Hutt are to be awarded the points.

11 team central league next year then?

so that would mean i got 4 out of 5 right in my picks…..

not bad for the start of the season with no form to work on….

as for 11 teams next year i don't think wests have the same relationship with the board as some other clubs do.

good sportsmanship and fair playing field is all we ask for

but all we get is talk and goal posts moving

how the heck did Wests stuff up so badly?

What about the goal difference- yes it advantages the opposition but also all other teams in the league. Just reverse the result an remove the offenders goals. Some weeks one but others 5.

Unfortunate  consequence of big squad lists each week. But the player would know.

The carry-over suspensions list has been on the CF website for six months, plain for all to see. Wharf stood down one of their best players as he was on the list. Ditto three of Olympic's  best.

Sounds like an honest mistake borne from the fact one of the yellows was received in Cap2, so the Central League management didn't have it recorded. Still the onus is on them to be absolutely sure and it seems crazy no one from Wests checked the suspensions list at all.

In amateur football the player has some responsibility too. Especially if you're playing for multiple teams.

Fuck this stupid game

Didn't Wests do the same or similar thing last year?

Permalink Permalink

The club Secretary would have been advised by Cap football at the end of last season. If my memory serves me correctly a reminder was also posted several weeks ago.

Yes, against Wairarapa. Player got picked when he got a yellow.

I spend more on #Steineken at the bar than the match day cost of the whole team!

On a good week at Molly's , The Grand and Mir clubrooms it would be close.

But your pledge would be most welcome to to help the Boys give back to their community.
