Maybe Mark Foster could motivate him better than Macca.

Confirmed?
Na not signed.  West have him on their radar too.

whose got the bigger $?

tawa must be offering something or wests would have him rounded up by now - which from other players perspectives must be a little dissapointing given that hes not that great (personal opinon)...

My understanding is that his only concern before signing for Wests is travelling to training from work. Other than that, he will be keen to sign.

my understanding is that there are currently no other players left at wests....

Thats not a very good guess Sir Les. They are assembling a side that is much stronger than last years.

This is what ive been hearing also. Rumours of some quality overseas players coming in also. Rumours only at this stage though...

That will be quite an achievement if the four or five players who are leaving are anything to go by.

I too hear rumours of imports though.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Is Wayne Rooker still down there? I heard a rumour last week that he's headed up here to play for Tauranga City in the NRFL

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

And the rumours every year are that the greeks will win the league.....

my point is that a very good team that has played together for a long time has been broken up. regardless of who they import, it will take a long time to gel, and most imports that have come over haven't done anything to 'light up' the league.

Miramar by a mile this year i think.

3 of the top 5 goal scorers in Central league last season were imports

I was more thinking of people 'imported' from overseas in their first season.

to appease the pedant in you nightz, to bring in overseas players and expect them to gel straight away is a big ask. so yes in their 3 or 4th season imports can do well. straight away....I dont think so

From what ive heard (rumours) these are players who have made careers from football and targeted by Wests because they are expected to be that talented that they should be able to 'gel' instantly at central league level. And its not just one or two players, its a fair few. If this is true im going to be trying to catch as many of these games as possible to have a geez, should be very interesting to say the least.

Jeez - keepers dropping like flies at the moment.

Surely LH will struggle a lot with a quality keeper like him out, and their second team now in lowly capital 1

If that is true then it's terrible timing for James.

However they could do worse than bring in Scott Basalaj.  He's only a kid but he's quality.

Agree. James was replaced by Jamie for the trip to Carisbrook - Gleeson has been released to Portland.

Will ask him Thursday. Hope it wasn't a fail, he's a great keeper and a great guy as well. Who else has left US colleges?

Hicham Kamri at Wests also.

Andrew Barron almost certainly won't appear in the Central League this season.

That's no rumour.

No not at all, just don't think he'll play Central League after coming back from the World Cup.

Would you?

Its likely he'll get the arse end of only 3 games (probably more of a run around in the build up games though), but i see no reason why he wouldnt want to play after the cup.

In theory, not. But NZ is quite unique from this point of view. It seems to be that some players are quite happy to play for the AW's and then just chill in the NZFC or their regional league.

Be interesting to see what happens to him after he goes to SA..

The same couldve been assumed for half the Auckland City squad who went to the emirates. Correct me if im wrong but ive yet to have heard of any pro contracts handed out to any of those guys even though they played out of their skins, defied all odds and made a couple of pro teams look cheap, especially the congolese.

To be fair that wasn't really his point. He was refuting your argument that performing well in an international shop window event (As ACFC undoubtedly did) doesn't automatically reward you with a pro contract elsewhere.

Can't say i have seen him play, but the bill payer obviously has.  Still working on the 4th prospect.  Should be a tough team to beat if all prospects get signed.
