Uncle Steve, the officating was poor. Why did he give 2 yellows after Petone had scored? Does he not think players will protest if they see pushing when a goal is conceded (unless bad langague was used which I didnt hear). What did you think of the Penalty decission as an unbasied   viewer.
Petone didnt for the most part take advantage of their extra player.

Uncle Steve complaining about a ref, never though I'd see that happen.

Ref never had control of the game. For all those who watched, please let me know how you rated his performance. Its games like these where the assessors should do their buisness. Not the Miramar Olympic rivalry games, where they throw in a 'noob'.Intense 90 minutes. Very entertaining. Good to see a strong contingent of Petone supporters. We enjoyed majority of possession even with 10 men, and if it wasn't for some great saves by Jewel, we could of walked away with all 3. Mind you Petone had some good chances to go ahead as well, hitting the crossbar and drawing wide a couple close rangers.

That is the most one sided review of a game I have seen this year.

Match was pretty even. Both sides had chances. Jewell made a couple of good saves. Penalty was an awful decision. Red card I can't comment on (didn't see it) but none of the Greeks I spoke to afterwards were complaining about it.

As regards the ref. Pete is a good ref. He is young, and sometimes loses his way. But he's still a good ref. He got a bit card happy in this one in my opinion, but having said that I didn't think he got much wrong.

The only shocker was the penalty call. I know it's not conclusive at all, but when the attacking team doesn't appeal at all for a penalty and then look shocked when they are awarded one it's probably an indication that it wasn't right.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I thought the lino called the penalty against Petone.  Ref blew because he thought she was signalling the ball was over the line and after he had blown, found she was signalling for a pen.

Correct, say what u like about the reff, but the lino called the pen and we didn't play well enough to win.
Young kid, will always find it tough but will b beter for it and is not the worst around

My original posting a bit unclear.  I meant it when I said I didn't think PETER got anything wrong on the day.  The peno call was a shocker, but he didn't make it.

Having said that I had a yarn to Jimmy H after yesterday's Cup game and he said he saw a big old yank on a shirt and that it was a fair pen.  Didn't look like it for me, and again nobody seemed to know what was going on at the time other than the lino.  Would Jimmy lie to me ;-0 ???

From where I was, i didn't see anything wrong. Line-o called it, so maybe she saw something I didn't, but thought it was a bit unfair on Petone's side.

Really?

I thought that when we shut down the wings, and crossing, there wasn't much left to the Petone attack. Considering we had 10 men for the majority of the game, possession should have swung in Petone's favour a bit more considerably.

Then again, only my opinion, and as bias as you might think it is, thats the way the cookie crumbles.

Watching LH vs Phoenix, 4-0 down halftime, Hutts third game in four days, looks like missing seven of their normal starting lineup and who beat Wests and the Phoenix are dominating 99% of play, even without their All Whites. Would have been good to see Hutt firsts out there, mite head back to Wellington now!

Olympic 2- Bush 1
1-0 at Ht, Oly down to 10 men wioth 25 or so to go, held out

Ref gives penalty in 92nd minute (to Wai Bush)- Greeks go nuts, NVH throws one glove off- Shot hits post and goes out

Greeks go ballistic, do a kind of Hellenic haka, stomping and clapping in the 6 yard box

Great fun, bitterly cold, nothing beats live football, except maybe an all Whites win on Tuesday night

Jeez.

Wasn't the prettiest of football, but its those games you need to win. Intense last 10.

Big props to the boys for fighting through and grabbing a great result.

Looks like the league might come down to the Mar Olympic clash at Farrington if things keep going the way they are.

Good to hear the olympic supporters praise the ref on the penalty decision.  And the keeper throwing his glove off is just showing how much of a muppet he is.  Clear penalty but hard to see through the one eyes of the olympic faithful.  Lucky to get the points.

Huntz? Who stole your cookie form the cookie jar?

All Nick did was take one glove off, got into the strikers head, and the guy put it wide. Couldn't even hit the target from 6 centimeters out, so hes the only muppet i see.

Sorry for not sending the Ref and his family a gift basket after rewarding the visiting side a penalty in the 93rd minute in a must win game.

By all means, it wasn't our best performance, but none the less we have the 3pts.

Lucky? No. Without that sending off Wairapa wouldn't of been allowed into the game. Until then, they were just as unconvincing.

How on earth is someone a muppet for taking off their glove. Sure Olympic did not play well, but if you even watched the game or understand football, you could clearly see that this Wairarapa team is poor. I honestly thought they were terrible, perhaps individually they are quite good, but as a team they are nothing special. Pretty rediculous reading some of these comments about olympic..do you really think the crowd wouldnt react if a penos given in extra time. Thanks for the 3 points..

I watched Wairarapa against Miramar on Monday and against Olympic yesterday and I have no doubt they are the best and play the best football in the region.
If they could finish their many chances we wouldn't want them in the league. Luckly they couldn't score in a brothel as the missed penalty proved.
Olympic have shown us how to play them, just fowl them of the paddock.

Is that the greater Wellington region or just the Wairarapa region??

In answer to your question smurf, THE CENTRAL REGION, which includes us in the Hawkes Bay etc. If you still don,t know, just google maps central north island. You will be suprised to find out this includes more than Wellington.

I have to agree with you whatsupdoc. again it does come down to poor finishing.  Its not called cheating if you dont get caught - cue olympic central defender on wai united striker early 1st half...at the end of the day olympic scored a great goal to go ahead, then a deflected shot to go 2 up (luck?) and wairarapa came back in it for the last 20 mins when olympic were down to 10, then for our striker to miss the penalty pretty much sums our year up.  Not so bad without 2 key players and i know olympic were missing a few (Raf?). Hopefully we will take third and we will would be disappointed.  oh well.

I dont recall having an issue with you last year regarding your pink suit Nick.  I think its great and obviously by wearing it you bring the attention to yourself and also by throwing your glove off done the trick on sunday.  Nothing personal.  in regards of identifying myself, i was the one that ask you if you were cold at half time and you explaned that you cant wear a long sleeve top as it gets heavy when wet.  I would not be the 1st person to think that you are crazy by the clothes you wear.  Keep up the good work.  Again nothing personal.
