Peter Withers' Dad, uncle and grandfather....goalscoring runs in the family.

Good point News but Withers also has pretty good contacts over in Pool himself, be interesting to see how that one pans out though and if your suspicions are correct.

One of those potential Tawa players once played for Naenae.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

All this talk about new players to Tawa....crazy.

Pre-season training started last night for firsts and seconds.....40 guys there, but no-one from other clubs.

I hope Ped stays at Lower Hutt. As far as I know, him and Macca have a good relationship - which extends to the coaching that Ped does for the club also.....interesting. I guess you would take the money though wouldn't ya? Testing financial times for some folks these days.

Roll on 2010.

Heard a lot of gossip of at least half the current West's CL team leaving. Anybody know any facts? Who is going with Matt to Mirimar and others to Tawa.
Cory Chettleburgh has been given a garantee of a professional contract to Germany mid season if he stays.

Wests have been bullsh*tting players with promises like that for at least 20 years.   How can they guarantee a professional contract?

Would anyone really trust Dave Wilson in a business deal?  You don't get that kind of money from telling the truth and doing the right thing by people!!

How many of last seasons regulars are being shafted from Tawa's squad?

Sounds like you've got a bit of beef with Tawa based on a couple of your comments. So there has now been one new player at Tawa's trainings. Big deal. If Tawa want to do well in Central League then they need to strengthen their team with a few new players. This has got to be expected with any team that moves from Premier to Central League. If over half the team was being replaced by newcomers then you would have a point, but that isn't happening/going to happen, so players aren't being shafted. If a few bench players get dropped to the 2nds, then that's football.

Ive actually played with a few of the guys in the squad and have known a couple since we were kiddies in primary school. And i think the squad could handle central league, so seeing them not playing regularly (or not at all) would suck. Hopefully the team remains largely unchanged for 2010.

I think you'll find that it will be largely unchanged.  Peter Withers has retired and Rudi Coetzer has gone overseas, but otherwise the same core, plus a couple of new guys.

No mention of you retiring LF1.  Does that mean you've put it off for another year?

a club trying to strengthen their team from one year to the next? What is football coming to? AJ13 maybe your mates from kindy could form a social team in div9 if they expect to play in the same team.

Youre making a meal of it. Theres a difference between strengthening a team and overhauling a team. If they stay unchanged like a few people have hinted they will, it will be good news.

whose got the bigger $?
tawa must be offering something or wests would have him rounded up by now - which from other players perspectives must be a little dissapointing given that hes not that great (personal opinon)...

Wests coach isn't in the country yet, so guess he would want to take a look at Hicham offering something.

My understanding is that his only concern before signing for Wests is travelling to training from work. Other than that, he will be keen to sign.

I cannot see why Tawa are getting critised for looking for new players to strengthen there squad. Quite frankly if they don't they will be fighting relegation all season.Peter Withers was worth two players by himself. He will be hard to replace.
Some players will miss out from the present squad but they will be the ones who have not done the homework to get fitter for the higher level. That is just life surely.
