Central - last six knockout games at home.

Odds of that happening = 1/64

Add to the fact that they stopped live, supervised coverage of the draws several years back, and you can see why people question the process.

And all vs Northern Premier league teams apart from Semi last year!

Mangere Utd 3 Non-League sides and 1 Div 2 team to make 1/4s

Well, here is an opportunity for NZ Football to "listen" to the people and change things....and remove any thoughts of possible bias or ambiguity in the process. Its called BE TRANSPARENT , but NZF has not been that keen in the past....I do recall some years back where I asked "the establishment" at the time to be present in the draw (at my own expense ...and was told in a very emphatic way that NO there is no way that I could do that despite being involved with a participating in the draw club....!!! Things did change when appropriate pressure was applied with certain rules being mentioned....... )  I do hope that they can prove me wrong in the future....!!! and make these draws "Live and public" again

Are you sure that's correct?

When was their last away game?

Settle down Chopah it wasnt Ellerslie 2013......

Birkenhead Utd 2nd game last season

3 Fellow Northern Prem teams last season and 3 again so far this Season

Any other Northern Prem side ever had a series of Ties like that?

thanks Ren - not what i was thinking.

I didn't remember they got all the way to the final last year - it's a pretty interesting stat from the draw.

with so many teams in the competition, and just a 1/64 chance to happen to a team - it is very likely to happen to at least one club over time.

Allegedly

Must be co-incidence, much like the following ...

2012 - 3 NRFL Prem teams in Quarter-Finals - two drawn together (Central vs Eastern Suburbs.)

2013 - 4 NRFL Prem teams in Quarter-Finals - all drawn together (Melville vs Birkenhead, Waitakere vs Onehunga.)

2014 - 4 NRFL Prem teams in Quarter-Finals - all drawn together (Melville vs Onehunga, Central vs Hamilton Wanderers.)

(The Cup is an 'open draw' from Quarter-Finals stage which means that, theoretically, any team can be drawn against any other.)

Hello. This speculation about cup draws reminded me of one of the most infamous 'live' cup draws ever undertaken, for the fourth round of the Chatham Cup in 1999, at a breakfast for the All Whites before heading to the Confederations Cup in 1999.

The following is my account of it as published in Sitter fanzine....

Melville weren't Prem in 2013. Actually, they weren't Prem last year either.

Three for me, and two for them.

My bad - cup results page had them listed as Prem.

Was using it primarily to illustrate geographic grouping of Northern teams.

Most gutless performance of any Wairarapa United team ever. Simply had no ideas in defence. Naïve !!!

Yikes.

Missing how many from the Petone send offs? Did that matter?

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Bloody good viewing at Wakefield this afternoon, Olympic v NCR, Olympic down to 10 men early after shocking tackle by Mikey, then up 1 nil before conceding a silly penalty, then Olympic up 2-1 another penalty again looked another easy decision for the referee, Olympic go 3-2 in front before conceding a third right on fulltime, again their fault Olympic14 let the ball bounce and ended conceding corner. Napier score winner couple minutes into extra time, Napier down to 10 by finish of game, Jimmy H I thought was great got all 3 goals first 1 brilliant, some couldn't be said about lazy Loius up front

Play Hard Play Fair

Mikey's red card was harsh, was off the ground but hardly was aggressive, more just left his foot in the way, tough red that early in the game when the referee didn't stop and think about it at all but the penalties were dead set but Olympic should've seen that game out!

I think there was actually quite a few of us. Everyone around me was from Bays. Congrats to Birko def a better team than us today. Goodluck in the next round

Birko 2 ECB 0

Really only one team in it  as Bays were hanging on for quite a long part of the game.

Birkos penalty was a bit harsh I thought - hit the Bays player hand which was trailing behind him as he ran back into the area.

There wre a fair few Bays supporters there I think.

Reasonable croud = perhaps 800 plus.

Olympic had that goal ruled out for offside too...Looked like such a dodgy call.

If you are in Auckland and you want to be at the live draw just hit up the Chatham Cup handle on twitter - I questioned the "National" accuracy of this next round and within a couple of hours had an invite to the draw - I can't make it but maybe some desire from NZF to get some transparacy (which would be a good move from them)
