None seeded to Round Two from Central region. What a joke

That is just to do with number of auckland teams.

Looks like Central and Capital teams joining together early though. So crappy Central teams should get knocked out early.

Some pretty funky sounding Auckland teams (sorry for not knowing my history) Zamantix Rovers? AFC Fury? Puhoi Wolfpack?

What about Christchurch - less teams there, and they are rubbish

Yeah well guess you work back from 1/4 final. Auckland get 4 teams, Central 2, South 2. Which is probably about right.

Permalink Permalink

Central teams have a pretty decent record in the Cup though huh?

Permalink Permalink

How else would you do it though. Because you'd need to make spilts a multiple of 2.

Yeah I agree....I suppose if there was plenty of money you would go national earlier but can't see that happening. I like the way it is anyway. I get sick of the Auckland teams dominating NZFC

why the Chatham Cup is so boring.....should be an open draw, from the last 32 to make it interesting......costly yes, but don't enter it you cannot travel.
Permalink Permalink

Right, so one team might have to travel 5 times across the country. That could easily be 20Kper game if flights are needed.

Dreaming.

Permalink Permalink

Think being open from last 16 is the best way to go.......no way teams can afford travel from earlier rounds. It's till a great comp...

That still potential 4 away trips. That's ok if you can drive to games, but if it is cross county it gets pretty pricey pretty quickly.

I like the current format, esp for Capital football teams. Seems to be a fairer reflection of the two feds.

I think its open from the Quarters right?

Uh-oh.  Here comes the same conversation we've had since this forum began.

I let my guitar speak for me

It goes open when NZF decide, which may not be when they said.

I'm guessing you are not a club treasurer

and Christchurch Utd also not in it

Nelson surprises me as they appear to have a lot of sponsorship and support. United is a small club with dwindling numbers - kinda sad to see what was once a big club decending into oblivion

Nobody from Horowhenua either. Or Masterton or Villa. Grim

Permalink Permalink

Or Gisborne...but it has been a few years. Travel not worth it for them.

Fuck this stupid game

With qualification round yesterday, does anybody know when they are drawing the first round?

Permalink Permalink

Unknown yet, probably next week would be my guess.

By my calculations there are 7 Waikato teams making it into Round One, for once I hope that we can at least get to the stage where it becomes national - the last eight. Hasn't happened for at least a few years

Permalink Permalink

We've prevented that the past few years haha.

Three for me, and two for them.

Permalink Permalink

Definitely, Manurewa and Forest Hill Millford also come to mind as sneaking in a slight upset.

Permalink Permalink

we just want to avoid Birkenhead this time - last two years in our first game!!

previous to that Ngongotaha away two years in a row.

So looking forward to whomever we draw this year meeting them again in 2014!

Permalink Permalink

Looking at the teams in that hat for the next round. Would imagine no 1 team to avoid would be Glenfield .....

Thanks for that mate.

And I was at Bohemian Celtic v St Peters. Men against boys, but the talent was evenly spread. Both teams hit the crossbar more than once. Both had a good number of enthusiastic fans. Beaut day. Beaut pitch. Beaut setting (what are those purple-flowered trees that now so enhance Bill McKinley?) And some of those Boh fans are pretty glam too.

Permalink Permalink

The twitter account is also dead since their "yay 90 years" thing.

Great stuff as usual.

Allegedly
