Like I said, Marist have a local derby.
I don't think NZF want it released yet, but meh, I'm only a contractor to them.

Miramafia vs Naenae
Hutt Derby
United vs Wharf
Bubbles vs The People's champions
United States of Wilson vs Levin
Coll vs Fiji United
Popes own vs Rongotai.
Upper Hutt vs Dirty Stop Outs
May not have home teams right in all cases.

At least Colls (hopefully) at home. So can go and watch.
When are these played?

My prediction: Wests 9-0 Levin. Or if Wests use their second team... Wests 9:0 Levin

Or if they borrow some BNU players, Wests 0:0 Levin. Levin on penalties.

Decent draw for the Wharf.
Harsh that a CL team will get knocked out in the first round, considering how many weaker teams from Central are getting a free pass into the second.el grapadura2010-04-27 09:59:11

Two CL sides will be knocked out in Rd 1

Yep, just realised that, makes it even worse.

It's not harsh at all; it's the beauty of the cup. Look at Portsmouth making the FA Cup Final but at the same time doomed for relegation. NZ football needs more footballing fairytales and classic underdog stories!

The main difference being that in England League 1 teams don't get a bye while the Premership teams battle it against each other.
I'm all for the romance of the Cup, but this is a ludicrous situation.

No. Those were preliminary rounds.
Three for me, and two for them.

Ah. Well that is insane that Central clubs go through to round 2 then. Crazy

28 Cap Fed sides (6 being Central League sides) have entered the C Cup, some had to begin their campaign in a qualifying round, which came prior to last weekend's prelim round, which only gets teams into Rd 1, which is next up.
By comparison 8 Central sides (and only two of then Central League sides I believe) entered the C Cup, and they all get byes into Rd 2.
Furthermore, the Central and Capital sides only come together in Rd3, meaning that 4 teams from each Fed will be represented in that round. So, half the teams that enter from Central fed make Rd 3, whereas only 1 in 7 sides from Cap Fed make Rd 3.
THis almost inevitably means some rubbish sides make Rd 3 or the last 32 (last year Miramar beat Maycenvale 10-2 in Rd 3 and Welly U beat Taradale 6 nil - while Lower Hutt had been eliminated by Olympic 2 rounds earlier). Further, if Maycenvale and Taradale had drawn each other, then one of them would have been into the last 16, having just played two games against other rubbish Central Fed sides. This might be the year that happens.

Anyone remember the NZF review of competitions last year? At the Wellington meeting everyone in the room wanted the Central Fed sides to come into Round 2 with the Cap Fed sides, and I 've heard that was a recommendation of the review team. So NZF have either missed this or ignored it

I think the big clubs going out early is great. It's one of things that makes teh cup different from leagues

The other option we put forward at that meeting was that when central and capital come together in rd 3 that there are only 2 central teams and 6 capital teams.
I asked CF if this was going to happen, and was told that NZF decided it wouldn't.
So big ups to NZF for ignoring the clubs feedback that you asked for.

Its ok if names are drawn out of a hat from the very beginning, but if the 'seeding' process puts rubbish sides ahead of some decent side, theres nothing great about it.
Why should a CL side be knocked out before a mediocre Central side has even been entered? If a CL side loses to a Central side, then good stuff. Otherwise its rubbish.

What makes you think they ignored it?
It wasnt just Captial football clubs providing the feedback. You are only looking at it from CF point of view. Clubs from Central Fed like things the way they are thanks.

I dont see what the fuss is. If your going to win the cup your going to have to beat a team of CL standard at some time if you can't do it in the first round then you were not good enough to win the cup.

That is a cliche that ignores all the arguments.
Why not just stick a Central Fed side in the final then? Bc that would be absurd. Well, the current situation is just a lesser degree of absurd.

It would make more sense for Capital clubs to go straight into round two once Central has been cut in half... but really, how hard could it be to just kick it all off at once? Or have the Central clubs play Capital clubs Cap1 and lower, then bring in Prem/CL next round... I dunno.

This should be a huge issue - Capital Football should be making a really big deal of this not just gently nudging people. It is blatantly unfair and distorts the competition completely. It can actually make it easier for Capital teams to progress in that 32 round as well, which from one aspect is a good thing but for the rest of the country is pretty average.

I guess NZF see olympic winning and think there is no need to change it.
TBH its similar the All whites relatively easy Qualification. But thats a different story
