Are you kidding? Seen how Wgtn Utd have been playing lately? I'd say they will go out with nothing to lose which is a good attitude against Olympic because they can easily implode as we all know.

Caversham (Tom Jackson[2], Patrick Fleming, Darren Overton, Ant Hancock)  5:1 Dunedin Technical (Alistair Rickerby) HT 1:1

Scrappy conditions today at Tonga Park as Caversham hosted Tech, heavy rain overnight and a bane-like southerly wind made life hard for both teams, but Caversham adapted much better than Tech and subsequently knocked them out of the competition with a convincing 5-1 victory.

For the first 20 minutes Technical had the upper hand. Wind was playing a big factor, and Centre Backs Tim Horner and newcomer Tom Schwarz had some difficulty clearing the ball, which meant a lot of football was seen at Caversham's end of the Field, but with surprisingly few shots.

Cavershams opener arguably came against the run of play mid-way through the first half, with a counter-attack down the right hand side. A nice cross was put over for Tom Jackson, who made no mistake with the finish off his right-foot. This sparked Caversham into action, and they started to look more comfortable on the ball and were a constant threat for keeper Cameron Burns.

An absolute howler from Cavy stopper James Wagget let Technical draw level seconds before half-time. What was a miscued shot from Rickerby slipped through the hands of the Englishman, leaving the crowd gob-smacked.

But the home side came out firing in the second half. With the wind at their backs, a lot more of the game was played down Technicals end. A blocked shot from Ant Hancock landed at the feet of Patrick Fleming who neatly lobbed the keeper from just outside the box. It proved to be the spark that sent Cavy into overdrive. Tom Jackson proved too much for the maroons' defense, as he frequently got behind and inside Matt Joy, and was unselfish infront of goal, tee-ing up Hancock who had almost the whole goal to aim at, and somehow managed to drill it into Tristan Prattley.

Prattley was patchy in this game. Did well in the first half at shutting down american Dave Butler, but was often rounded by Tom Jackson, who got his 2nd (Cavershams 3rd) midway through the second spell. A substitute keeper did little to help Technicals efforts, and after a poor clearing punch, Darren Overton was on hand to convert, with a well-taken first time finish. Ant Hancock rounded off the scoring 5 minutes from the end of the game, with a weak goal that summed up Dunedin Technical's day.

The score was a fair reflection of the game. Just a pity it could not have been played in better conditions. Well done Caversham.

Just got back from the turf- 2-1 to United, Carlos Tevez lookalike swung the game for Diamonds with a goal and winning a pen which Little converted (eventually).

Moment of the match:NVH throwing his gloves on the penalty spot after referee orders retake for infringement in the box- I may be mistaken but i think the gesture was more a protest at his own players, ie 'you go in goal then' rather than at the ref or utd. could be wrong, still was a lol moment

decent game at the turf. Bubbles had first half but Utd (formerly known as Titanic) the second. Good goal by Halikias. I think the Utd foreign striker came on in the second half. Was getting sht from Robson but he had egg on his face when he scored the equaliser. Then he collected a pen that G converted after a retake. Nick was hilarious.

Yes. agree the Olympic goal was a class finish, but so was United's first

He played pretty poorly after the penalty, kept looking over his shoulder for the crunch, needlessly flicking the ball on when the defence were looking for him to hold it up

Cue Uncle Steve coming in and blaming it on the ref, the weather, the pitch, the bad food, the poor lighting and or a combination of excuses.

Ugh - we went 1 nil up after UH Center Back passed it to our player at edge of 18 yard box.
We then had our striker sent off for a pretty poor challenge, I dunno, bright Orange card and a good talking to maybe? Either way changed the game. UH then scored from a well taken free kick. 1 all half time. After that UH just ran us off our feet, poor defense and average keeping on my part lead to second. Good finish for third.

Matt B then got sent off after scoring 2 of UH's goals, for trying to kick our left back. Now I don't wanna stir and sound bitter, but it's no wonder people don't like playing at the Hutt. The banter from the clubhouse wasn't particularly witty and was just nasty. They then gave Matt B a standing ovation after he got sent off, and threatened to knock our players teeth out who he kicked and got sent off for doing so. Hardly promoting great football behaviour

Question however - man sent off in Chatham Cup - carries over to league or not?

Comfy win for Birko over Pukekohe today. Pitch was awful. Ref was awful. Puke were dirty as hell. Came away battered and bruised but with an easy 3-0 win as you would expect. Weather held off thankfully as there was no cover there and the clubrooms weren't open. Glad we don't have to go there again tbh.

Nothing better than beating an overly confident/cocky team, particularly the cup holders and 'team of the year'. I hope they can take the loss without to many excuses.

Olympic are gobby but they are entilted to be.  They will stop being gobby when the sun rises in the west. But they are a also very good team who clip the ball around at a nice pace and create a hell of a lot. The game was pretty even but Eme made the difference as he did on saturday. Congrats to Olympic they are good losers, for us we recognise that did a big thing today but next week its back to the coalface in the premier league.
