Birkenhead v Glenfield.

Well. Just returned from lunch. What a f**king draw.

This promises to be an absolute epic match. Can't wait.

Three for me, and two for them.

The fact that either miramar or wests are going to be out before the 3rd round when you look at some of the poor sides in this list that are going to make the 3rd/4th rounds is a joke.

rough draw for roslyn....

Indeed, hence recent tirades from Smith on radio over the weekend and even Parkie sticking his (or her) oar in over the weekend.

yeah well someone has got it all awfully wrong... look at napier/northern region the majority of the top teams get an almost garunteed run into the 3rd/4th round before they are likely to have to even field there best 11....

Capital Football and Central region teams should be drawn together from Round 1. End of.

Thought that might fire you up. A truly local derby.
Also the teams from central and capital football should be put together in this round.
Travel is not an excuse not to do it. In the northern region teams could have had to travel from Kerikeri in the north to Hamilton in the south and if Taupo had made this draw the distances would have been greater.

Wellington United away. Tidy enough draw for Stop Out.
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

How come Wharfies are at Adventure? I thought it was home ground advantage to the team named first i the draw? or are you just assuming that K park will be mud so it'll be transferred??

Another bloody rigged draw. The draw should be done behind closed doors at The Apollon.

How come Oylmpic have to play the might of Petone and Wests only have to play Miramar?

Something stinks bad, I'm getting sick of NZF and Capital Football always picking on Olympic.

can anyone confirm the 4 venues for the next round?

 Thats an easy one Nick,

Capital Football:
Waterside-Karori v Tawa                       Onepoto 1
Miramar Rangers v Western Suburbs   Farrington Feild
Olympic v Petone      Olympics home game and they are always moaning that they get screwed over so that will be at the home of football
Wellington United v Stop Out   Newtown

Hope that helps

Would be great if they put the two Newtown games on back to back.

Agreed, but they would need to start a little earlier in the day which could cause a few problems. Some of them may not have made it back from their Saturday nights expliots.

It seems CF arn't sure where the Big Cup games will be held....

Olympic __ Petone __ TBC;
Wellington Utd __ Stop Out __ Newtown (2pm).

they should really try to play them one after the other and make a day of it at newtown

guess it will depend of the weather this week. Can't imagine the council playing 4 or 5 games on it over 3 days.
Permalink Permalink

There are already two senior games being played there Saturday, and a womens match on Sunday. It wouldn't handle two more senior mens games on Monday. The first would cut up the field up too much. And even if two games were scheduled anyway, any wet weather would mean the early one being transferred at a late stage. Melrose anyone? Best to beg the Nix for use of Newtown 2, thats the only realisic solution that would keep everyone happy.

Olympic should default.

It is in NZ Footballs best interests that Petone go through to the final this year.
60 Years ago, 1949, Petone, then a second division side, played Northern in the final in front of a crowd of 12,000. They won 1 - 0, Wally Hewitt later to be made a Life Member, scored. Ben Savage saved a pen for Petone.

Excellent - just down the road - saves me a trip the other end of Wellington

I am thinking too close to call - penalty shoot out - is extra time in the cup golden goal or is that long gone?

Yeah, Golden Goal is gone...it's 2 x 15-minute periods of extra time, then penalties if needed.

Oranje

Entertaining day at Newtown ahead. It's like an early July 4 with a crap load of fireworks and the most red cards to possibly be distributed at a single venue.

Heres hoping
