Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Just an idea, and i know that there are plenty of obstacles to it, including a lack of grounds/weekends/refs etc but what about opening up the qualifying rounds to any team that stumps up with a $500 entry fee. Then have a summer qualifying round or two for Sunday league & lower Div teams. NZF bankc the money and then makes it availabel as a cash incentive for teams that reach qtr finals. I know that some Sunday league teams already take part, it'd be great to offer up that experience and make a bit of cash for the serious teams.

(obviously put some restrictions on it, maybe teams that finished in top two of their league in previous season?)

I KNOW it is a flawed concept, but a starting point at least

Maybe if they hadn't spent as much as they, allegedly, have on assembling their team this year, the cost of flying down there wouldn't be a problem

They  should just throw away the moral high ground, do what every other club does and pillage the juniors

I can't believe Nelson has got as far as they have, they are looking like a good bet for relegation from the Mainland league, been basically bottom all year. Them being Chch Tech was a huge result.

This is gossip and ill informed gossip at that. 3 Kings haven't "bought" their team at all. There haven't been sign on fees.I know many of the team personally and know that for a fact. They went to play for 3 Kings because they wanted to play for Paul Marshall.

Didnt know why the cup is regional for so long. If it went National earlier than clubs wont be able to afford to pay players and they could waste their money on travel instead.

i play for kings as well, Paul is a great coach but he's getting paid a bit thou surely??? This whole drama regarding the money, firstly kings is managed badly this is just my personal opinion, For a club as big as Kings not being able to 10k is a bit of a joke really, secondly why dont the players fundraise???? We had to. If people saw them making an effort there would be some effort put in from the other teams to help them. Someone has to pull finger somewhere

Three Kings are not paying large sums of money to their top players despite what people are lead to believe.  The players are at Three Kings because of Paul Marshall and the fact the 1st team is run professionally.  The players are looked after at the club and money has nothing to do with it.  The players are also fund-raising money to help fund the trip.

Miramar v Waitakere City
I think it's fair that Miramar are favorites to take this one out. It's strange because Waitakere usually in the past have into these games odds on. Neil Emblen and Carl Jorgensen have jointly taken the team this year with a nice blend of youth and experience on the park.
NZFC players Jake Butler and Roy Krishna spearhead the midfield and attack respectively. Most of the others are players from the last two years NYL team but hats off to Neil and Jaws phaving fait in putting three 15 year olds on the bench. These kids deserve their seat on the plane and whoever gets on won't look out of place among the older brigade. Names for the black book these three. Central defender Luke Adam, midfielders Tim Payne and Sam Burfoot are players whom played in the U15 Waitakere City team that won the NZ Nike Cup and lost to Marconi 0-2 in Sydney trying to win through to the Manchester Cup.
Hopefully a couple of them will take the field and I'm sure spectators will see some of footballs future stars.
Long time since I've been to Dave Farrington Park. I've witnessed many a battle between the two clubs in the glory days of the old National League so I'll look forward to catching up with some old friends tomorrow.

I wouldn't get carried away with remebering Farrington Field Rex.

Almost certain to be relocated as Farrington Field resembles a swimming pool (or resembles Kaorori park).

3 Kings are staying 2 nights because like everyone else they have to fly when flights are available! If they flew on Saturday morning and there was any problem at any airport they wouldn't make it to Dunedin on time. It's basic!
