and not a hell of a lot of that, I'll consider the gentle stroll part of my fitness regime

it was 3-1

Waitakere scored about 10 mins from end with a decent free kick

Radioman had been distracted by Jimmy by then...

Mar were very good today and it was game over when Krishna went off.  How good is Dominic Rowe by the way.  His goal (their third) was CLASS.  Someone convince him to play TeeDubs please.

Chote and Barron-Judas also very good for the Mafia.

Nelson Manurewa  result anyone?

I let my guitar speak for me

Not in extra-time, DRX, but 'Rewa came from behind to win 3-1 with two goals in stoppage time - these are the first goals Nelson have conceded in the Cup this season.

It was Three Kings who did the extra time job, twice coming from behind to down Caversham 4-3, meaning the Northern League teams have ended South Island interests in the Chatham Cup for this season.

Cheers,

Conspiracy theorists say Miramar Olympic semi final if the greeks win tomorrow, thus ensuring Auckland representation in the final...

Yeah Rowe was good, so too was the Colonel who played a big part throughout and got a great first goal.

As for Krishna;s sending off (right in front of me) well I dunno I have some sympathy.

Its one of those ones where he was obviously being held for a long time before a foul was called. As you do in those circumstances, he was flailing his arms to try and shake of the hold. Unfortunately, if your holder lets go at the wrong time in these circumstances it can look bad, as you can catch him one, and thats what happened today when Krishna stuck an elbow in matey's chest.

I think to get sent off in those circumstances is very harsh, cos all of us when we are held try to shake off the holder by shaking your arms . I think the referee could have shown a bit of commonsense and let this one go, he certainly delayed his decision as long as possible.

Three good goals for the Mar though, Emblen missed the bal for the second. His pace isnt the greatest but he looks a good player anywhere near the ball.

I thought Mikey Eager was the player of the day, although the Colonel had a great game and the Barron also played very well.

Miramar controlled most of the game and Waitak struggled after Krishna got sent - could have got a 2nd yellow for it then a red, but is down to referees interpretation of how he see's a flailing arm or elbow after the ball has gone....

Great to get my $20 from Jaws and to catch up with the travelling friends from the real Outrageous Fortune....

Top crowd and great atmosphere, heres to the Miramafia getting a home draw in the next round.....but theres the opening of Davey Farrington Field next Saturday anyways....

It was certainly a great crowd.

Apparently the Waitak coach said after the game "we wouldn't even train on a pitch like that".

Lols.

He was a miserable bastard. I was sitting right above him and he was getting some stick from the crowd for his antics. Some old Irish guy behind me was getting into him, LOL.

As for the pitch, well it certainly cut up in a few places in the middle, but it was perfectly playable - I never saw anyone slip over once - and the surface was okay to play the ball around on.

God Ive seen games on 10 times worse than that. What can you do - it HAS rained an awful lot this week, but there was no way you could have called that off. It looked well prepared to me considering the weather.

Cavvy vs Hideous Strip

Caught the 2nd half and extra time. Excellent game, end to end with lots of opportunities.
The result was a fair one, Cavvy rode there luck a couple of times. TKU 3rd goal was magic, very quick ten yard interpassing. Overall one of the best games Ive seen at the New Cally.

Comparing TKU to Miramar (last year vs Dunedin Tech), TKU are probably a better team, fluid well balanced.

Chote was average. Been very impressed with Craig Alderdice when I've seen him play this year. Barron and Eager dictated midfield and Waitak were one-dimensional and very quiet on the pitch. The goal from a free kick was top drawer, that Keegan Linderboom had some great touches and looks the goods.
No issue with the sending off of Krishna, he cocked his elbow and connected in Chote's chest, admittedly it wasn't the worst elbow I've seen, but certainly warranted a yellow but instead got a straight  red (he had been booked early for a tackle so it didn't make a huge difference if the ref went red or yellow he was goneburger).
Waitak tactics left me miffed. Down 2-0 early in second half they make no changes in attempt to chase game, or at least get it to extra time but wait until 3-0 down before making like-for-like changes.
Would have thought some of the Mar subs would have got a run, even so Mar should have had 2 or 3 more.

Mars midfield won it for them, totally dominant, which created the chances up front.. Red card very soft in the context of the match and for the neutral was a bit of a bummer... Rowes goal was top drawer and Halstead missed 3 easy ones but scored a ripper, very entertaining match all round and gave us all who were cancelled something to do :) definately worth the price of admission

I wouldn't have blamed the Mar if they'd charged a couple of bucks for entry.  Would defo have been worth it.

I bought a raffle ticket instead.

Ye I think that would have been a smart idea to be honest.
In relation to the game, I thought it was a very enjoyable untill around the 75th min which it got a bit boring, possibly because Miramar sat back a little, which enabled Witak to enjoy finally some possession.
I thought Miramar were outstanding, they are a great team and very enjoyable to watch. I thought Dom Rowe was class, great 3rd goal, I dnt know how he got that shot away but he did. As for the central midfield they are the key to this team. Over the last 2 - 3 weeks I have seen them play, Barron has been a stand out.
As for Krishna being sent off, fully deserved to be sent, I actually thought the referee was pretty good.

Lets hope Olympic can win today in Aucks! What a semi that would be at Centenial wow. It would be good to guarantee a Wellington team in the final so ye. Predictions?
2-1 Olympic after extra time, (1-1 fulltime). Thats my prediction.

Final, please!!!
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Was at the game today.

Good weather ensured a decent crowd there, the likes of which haven't been seen before at Becroft, so good atmosphere with plenty of noise. Pitch was much better than i expected and this allowed for good football to be played.

First half was very cagey but FHM dominated and deserved their 1-0 lead. Olympic keeper made some top saves to keep them in it. Second half opened right up and was end to end. Thought Olympic's second goal might of been offside but couldn't be sure from where i was standing. Last Olympic goal was incredibly fortunate. FHM struck late and were so close to levelling at 4-4 but alas it wasn't to be.

All in all good day out and a great occasion for FHM i'm glad they didn't move it from Becroft in the end.

P.S. Interesting choice of colours worn by the Olympic keeper.

Three for me, and two for them.
