What about a Mir v Oly final at basin reserve.

Is Basin Reserve really any better than Newtown Park?

Certainly bigger, but we wouldn't fill it.  Also certainly more expensive.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

not sure about it being on tv no matter what the venue. it hasnt the last 2 years and 1 would imagine with the nix ko at 5 that day we (by we i mean the cup final-whoever is in it)might get a shot at getting it on sky befor that game. who would know tho

The Phoenix game on September 20 is a 3pm KO at the Stadium.

If it's Miramar v Olympic, it would make perfect sense to play it as a curtain-raiser to that game.  Midday kick-off to cover possibility of extra-time and pens.

Newtown is in better shape than Basin at the moment (Newtown doesn't have a big soggy cricket block in the middle of it). Also a lot of other logistical problems with playing it there.

No, Newtown is big and soggy all over.

A bit like Hard News.

With the All Blacks v Aussie game the night before, and the 3pm kick off (was 5pm last year after ANZ Cup games on Saturdays) the time frame for the rugby-football swap over is already tight. According to the Phoenix the pitch has to be ready 2 hours before the game or before gates open.

I agree it would be nice to have the game played as a curtain raiser but I'm pretty sure it won't happen.

Ye I think we have to be careful, cant talk it up too much.
You see no one wants an Auckland team in the final, thats all!
Olympic and Miramar have a massive rivalry, and if they meet in the final, you can guarantee a couple of red cards and a broken leg!

Basin is soggy all over but the block is a lot worse than the rest.

Fair nuff mate, i'm backing kings because i play for one of the lower leagues for them. It will be good to see someone take kings on at Keith Hay, they have been unbeaten there all season

Tough to call but I'm picking the Colonel following a Barry Lewis-NVH chainsaw-pinky combo special at a corner.

I've been told that Newtown will be redug out (again) as soon as the winter season finishes (ie end of August) so that it's OK for TW and athletics. A game on the 19th wouldn't leave enough time for that work to be done, so there is little chance  of it happening at Newtown. The old girl really is a shambles at the moment with seriously soggy spots at one end and around half way that just won't drain, so the surface wouldn't be up to scratch anyway. The best venue in Wellington for the game is Porirua Park, as the pitch is superb and it can handle a crowd. However both venues offer easy access to hospitals which will be useful for the guy who breaks his leg.

I hope to god its not at Porirua Park.. Keep it these ways by town, or Eastern Suburbs. Thats where both these clubs are from so why move it away from everyone. I know Porirua is quite a bice pitch but I rather it an any other park then that.

...and there is every chance there could be a Three Kings / Manurewa final....

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

What plans do Olympic have for their home match? How much will they charge to enter the game?

Good news. It's a waste of a good venue when the turf isn't up to scratch.

I agree with you, town would be better, but I think Porirua would be the best place to have it if you don't want the pitch to have to much of an influence on the game. It's not to far to travel and beats North Harbour.

Yes and with their previous work there, the maintenance work done on Centennial Park, and of course their stirling work on Karori Park to judge by I'm sure WCC will turn it into a wonderful surface.

Got to think that, player for player, Miramar have a stronger XI.

Be a shame if Auckland team got into final.  It would be at NHS, nobody would go, and nobody would care.

Depends, I dont mind paying if it means you can afford to supply ball boys for a change.

No ball boys. We will have donkeys patrolling the sidelines collecting the balls.

Unconfirmed - $3 Entry.

More to follow.

Fair enough there is no fine for no ball kids in Chatham cup games. Not that it ever worries you in CL anyway. But I'll do it for free entry.

I'd take the ball and go home..

$3, I'd pay $5 to see the donkeys, more if you dress them in a nice skirt

Man people writing off Wgtn Utd very quickly. All they have to do is win one playoff game against the likes of Tawa or Manawatu. Not that tough
