I feel I need to make note of the performance of Marius Lacatus in BNU's game against Wests yesterday.

It's hard to find positives in a 9-1 loss, but ML was superb yesterday.  On countless occasions, he made a certain TW defender look ordinary as time and again he beat him with close control and skill down the left flank.

The standout moment of the match (as far as BNU was concerned) was our solitary goal.  Marius picked up the ball wide on the left, perhaps 35 yards from goal.  He proceeded to beat 4-5 Wests defenders, including a couple who had more than one go at him, and reached the byeline before cutting inside.  After such a brilliant mazy run, the final pass is often poor by comparison, but in this case it was perfect - on a plate for our guy to knock the ball into the net.

I've played football for a long time and I can't remember a better "assist".  Magnificent.

Just finally, well done to Wests who - as the scoreline probably suggests - were comfortably better than us.  However, not one player tried to rub it in, during or after the match.  They played it hard but fair; a good bunch of guys in my opinion.  Good luck to them.

Over and out.

Never seen BNU before, but their 2 forwards looked handy. Great goal as you say. But they were woeful in midfield. Did the keeper get injured, I missed what happened, not that the keeper was to blame for the goals I saw.

Everyone got one I think. Ellensohn certainly got one, Feld got a good goal, Brown one, also a penalty. They were lining up for shots in the second half. Even Peters was in there. Im pretty sure Imray didnt score, but after that, who knows.

from the Karori match report "...and James Trotter came on for Michale Greene who had taken a knock to the jaw in the warm up."

I have to ask, who threw the punch?

2005, as miramar won the cup in 2004,  then as defending champs got knocked out in round 2.  it was alex moore park, pissed down with rain

North Wellington 3-2 Miramar (9 men, an ex Mar defender sprinting off then kicking a fence after getting a red)

Can you reveal who kicked the fence Pitbull? I could have a few guesses but have no idea. And who else got sent?
Permalink Permalink
almost 18 years ago · edited over 13 years ago

Miguel Palma was the first player sent off, the culprit who kicked the fence was a defender whose last name is  most commonly a noun, adjective, or adverb indicating direction or geography.

Is that Matt Cantwell on the bottom left?
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Again, very much a Prem League v Travel League round, but some real doozies here..

Tawa    v. Olympic
Lower Hutt v.  Marist
Western Suburbs v. Island Bay United
Petone v. Stop Out
Waterside Karori v.Miramar Rangers

Tawa and Karori with a real chance esp at home...
Island Bay have some keen players and like to get stuck in, not sure what wests was doing last week in the first half against S/O.
Lower Hutt should handle Marist and Petone, well depends, was S/O's first half last week a fluke or are they finally getting things together...

Tawa, Hutt, Wests (Extra time or penalties), Petone & Mar (unless it is is raining then it could go to penalties = coin toss) to go through...

I'm not saying they will (although i would love to see tawa get through).  They have the best chance of the 5 underdog teams.

Redwood isn't in the best of nick by any stretch of the imagination (though this could be said for a fair few grounds at the moment).

Marist looking for a repeat of last years upset over LH, though it may be harder away from the wind tunnel

Otago University AFC to beat Northern, playing at the Gardens at 2:00pm tomorrow.
Oh Wellington is wonderful. We got the wind, the rain and the phoenix. Oh Wellington is wonderful.

yep, i think tawa has the best shot....
Permalink Permalink

after watching olympic yesterday I think Tawa have should be full of confidence for the cup.  Defense is a real weakness for Olympic and Sacha keeps them alive. Teams that love to attack will flourish so Tawa should lay there normal attacking game.  and with Raf out, possesion becomes quite a bit more sporadic so Tawa will win a lot more ball in the middle and attack from there..

I'm pretty sure Raf suspension is for CL games only.  He should be playing tomorrow

Is this some kind of match fixing allegation?

Can someone clarify the rule about red cards in Central League.  Does the stand down period apply to all games or just CL games.  I also heard some some discussion that Raf could play in Chatham Cup tomorrow.

I know that red cards gained in capital premier mean you cant play in the cup...I would be surprised if it was different for CL

Raf IS out for the Cup.  I can't believe you lot don't take Park Life's word for it!

Speaking of out for the cup, so is Redwood Park.  Anyone wanting to watch the Greeks play Tawa should show up at Alex Moore Wemberley at 2pm.  You'll be joining (possibly) me and LVP1.
