to be fair, I think they have been missing McKinley bigtime, and Rupert, and .... and....but they just dont seem to be doing it...

I agree we do miss McKinley at the back. I was always confident that he would put his body on the line, he also read the game well.

i watched sam messam play for u23s vs nix and seriously thought he was the sub keeper, particularly when he had a poor first touch when warming up and that looked like he couldn't even really kick the ball! then he got subbed off after about 30 minutes, but apparently, the dude can score goals, crazy sh*t, he's about the same size as a house bus! lol

He does look clumsy like at times, and did have a couple of Halstead/Crouch moments where the mind is willing but the body is out of synch, but the goals he took more than out weighed such errors.

I think a few teams would hold thier own in CL.  especially with the addition of 1 or 2 players which would happen, thus weakening the tops teams a little and bringing the teams a little bit closer..

Don't Mar have some u20's?  And they will have camps over the winter right?

does it matter they have acres of depth somewhat like wests used to have until they started pulling in players from napier and auckland, i can't see wests having a 2nd team next seasons talking to a few players that are currently in that team.

wests will be a one team club in 2009.

Wests currently have four mens teams,
Central
Premier
Capital 13
Masters 3

3 teams maybe..... defently not one

sorry ill re-state that

one competitive non social team. (cap13 the sandbar pub team)
if you look back to 2005 maybe even 2006 they had teams in cap 3 cap 6 and cap 13
their only going down hill.

probably quite different state to every other club in wellington who are riding the Phoenix wave.

- Wests also have a team in Capital 10 (currently bottom). Thats the third team. And a Masters 2 team.

- The Capital 13 Sandbar team are (quote) "Non- Social" ??????? Have u seen those guys in the Sandbar??? I have it on good authority they were all pissed as chooks on Friday night.

Suburbs have always been short of social club teams, ever since the move from the old club rooms on Kenepuru to Endeavour Park.

I do see a lack of a path for the youngsters coming through, not all will make the second team, so where do these kids go, for that mix of development plus the older heads. There is a need for a team to be higher than Cap 10.

I do think that anything outside of 3 teams in a competative structure is social. How many teams outside a top 3 would be training during the week.

Greeks, Mar, L Hutt & Napier all postponed this week.  Chance for Wests to get some needed points and an opportunity for Pet One to close the gap to 1 point at the top...  Anything less than 3 points would be a dissapointment for Pet One on current results and who would have believed that at the end of the first round that Pet One would be breating down Mar's neck??

The old adage, points in the bag v. games in hand.

Stop Out and Diamonds..  Stop Out seem to think they have a full team ready to go..  I am a little suspect that if they manage to get a full team of quality players, it will take a while before they can play as a team...  Diamonds have Stop Out this week and Palmy next week - if they want to stay out of relegation problems, now is the time.  I suspect they wil with Palmy at Palmy being the tougher challenge...

Their capital 10 team aren't great, all though they beat us on a very bad day this Saturday .
Endeavour park is a great deck though, compared to some of the sh*te we get in town.

impressive win for the Mar..   What is Napier up to?  Impressive for weeks then lost in the cup to Hutt, which was no biggie, and then getting thumped at home...   The Mar are pretty impressive, can't look past that... Plenty of teams lining up to still be counted...  but someone will need to take some points off Mar..  Petone & Olympics 2nd round game against Mar postponed until the endo of the year. Napier has just blown a good chance, Wests get a shot in a few weeks.  Someone needs to draw some blood...JohnnyCash2008-06-23 15:13:56

Wests might if their team is still stacked when they play in mid July. No one else will.

Seeing as the Under-23s are due in Sydney to play the Central Coast mid-July you might be in luck A-team.
