Tawa 2-1 after ET. Deserved win. Tawa as always played hard for 90 min (120 in this case) and bubbles got worse as the game went on. Standard Withers header to win it.

Turned up half time, Tawa apparently played better in 1st half, 0-0 at the break. Olympic were playing really well, with miki scoring a nice inside the foot volley from a great cross from churchy. 1 - 0 up.

Mid 2nd half jamie o conner with a hard slide tackle which he got all ball however reveieved a yellow, then a 2nd yellow for saying bullsh*t or something. If you make a good tackle and then get booked its ridiculous for a ref to send u off especially in a final for getting angry with the decision. I think refs really over react in this league and need to sort that out. He must have watched the man utd game this morning or smethng.

1st Half extra time tawa make it 2-1 and seal the win. Olympic prob could feel a lil hard done by wit the refs decision changing the game however olympic players should probably not be physical because when your wearing a blue shirt your going to get sent.

As for Tawa well done, they played to win.

i saw nothing wrong with the send off and I was standing right next to it. Yellow for a two foot tackle on the end of a three metre bobsled ride, and then rather than accepting it he started talking smack after getting baited by the Tawa dude.

Come on man, I dont want to sound like im bitching over the referee but theres no problems with a hard challenge especially when you get all ball??? And obviously when you get given a yellow for a decision you know is wrong than you will get upset. Yes he is obviously better off not to say anything and 'walk away'. But to send a player off in the final for something so little I thinks bullsht. Watch professional football and look at the crap refs get but they deal with it. Refs are there to control the game...not kill the game!

well if you play footy in wgtn you're going to have to wear some decisions you are not happy with. Swings and roundabouts though. Dan Wood got randomly booked for diving in the box when it could have gone the other way.

I agree he got bumped and it could have been a peno but he dived which was ridiculous, because if he had fallen over then I would have thought it should have been a peno. Again referees are crap. And for you to get sent for 'rubbish' emphasizes my point that nz refs are crap. Despite our loss today I am just dissapointed in the referees display, even throughout hilton and I hope that it gets better for Cental League. The game even opened up when jim replaced the other ref as he allowed the game to play on a bit. Ahhwelll what can you do...perhaps slip him a cheeseburger

Anything I said was aimed at the player, who completely over reacted, not the ref. I apologised to player and ref after the game. I thought it was a bit harsh but lets leave the ref's alone. There's no game without them. Congratulations to Tawa.

ROFLMAO

That's one of the funniest things I've heard all day. It's as if refs are crap... but the football they officiate over, is just SO damn good. Yeah Right.
Pull ya head outta ya bum, being a ref is hard.

From what I have read here
1. Two footed tackle = reckless behaviour. IT NEVER EVER EVER matters if you get all the ball, if your actions are possible to injure someone because you have no control over yourself, then it's a bookable offence, getting the ball is not a defense, merely good luck on your part that the guy you were tackling wasn't quick enough to get the ball away, and for you to break his league
2. Refs in the premier league ARE professionals, and are paid to get a bit more stick. (Even then, they put up with far too much, and need to send off some of those overpaid lippy prats). Refs in our leagues, are all bar volunteers who do it for the love of the game. They do the best they can, and if they make what you deem to be a mistake (but to the letter of the law aint), don't blame them for it. No one rides a striker for missing a penalty nearly as much as a ref giving a mistaken penalty
3. Offensive language is a straight red, doesn't matter who you say it too.

And well said London Blue, very mature of ya mate

are you having a laugh??  If you make a challenge like that and then get up and abuse the ref you deserve to be sent off.  If he had accepted the yellow play would have continued.

Get off your high horse.  Look at man u's game this morning.  A sending off for throwing a tantrum. . . thats exactly what your player did

End of the day what a victory for Tawa. Who would have thought they would have won. They definately were not going in as favourites!!! Jimmy mate how does it feel when your not on top of the world. I swear he thinks he is the best player in NZ. From all accounts Tawa have been pissing up at large tonight enjoying a well deserved victory over a not so good central league team, Olympic.

In jimmy's defence, yes he didnt have a good game, but i like it how people only talk sh*t about him when he has bad games and are so reluctent to mention how well he played in the lead up to the final. Jimmy is a class act, yeah sure some aspects of his games need sprucing but at the end of the day he is a footballer, and plays his heart out for the club so well done jimmy and the rest of the squad.

Kills me to see, we lost, but it is only preseason and i know the boys will do well to show us what their really made of in the central league this year.

And before you go running your mouth about a 'not so good' Olympic squad, a) its preseason and b) tawa are in champs premier you stooge so eat sh*t.

Well done to tawa, kept their heads in the game, were able to take advantage of a dying olympic side out there and won.

As for the sending off, bit harsh in my books. Yes two foot tackle, yes he might of talked smack to the tawa player, and probably a yellow, but to so easily draw his second yellow over a bit of smack. Ridiculus. I agree refs in NZ arent up to the standards as such but i mean its the best we got. Check out the following video about refs, found it on the sun and thought it to be quite entertaining.

Ye all your hear from you guyes is how Jimmy plays crap, his coloured boots and how he thinks hes the best player in NZ. To be honest a lot of people dont like him because of the way he acts however on the football field he is one of the best. He is one of the most talented players. Hes scored various types of goals this tourny and a hatrick against Miramar which was quality. Many players in the olympic team believe he is not too far away from a Team Welly trial at least.

As for Hilton Im not taking anything away from Tawa and their performance by any means, just the referees display. It will be interesting to see whetha Tawa even keep these players or will they be taken by other Central League clubs perhaps??

End of the day mullet Tawas not in the central league ay soo  have fun in champs premier!

Can guarantee that no one from tawa will change clubs unless they are paid a ridiculous amount of money. . . ie enough to make them quit their jobs

Ah, the return of the old "all NZ refs are crap" routine. I didn't see the game, so I can't comment on specifics but

1. If this tackle was anything like it's been described here, by some people with a reasonably unbiased opinion, the referee could well have waved a straight red at the player concerned

2. If a player gives anyone a gobful, the referee is quite within his rights to flash a straight red for that.

Moral of the story. Instead of bleating about how crap refs are, why not avoid launching yourself into stupid two footed tackles and maybe trying to keep your mouth shut. That way you might have a reasonable chance of staying on the park.

Then again, that wouldn't work because it's far easier to blame the referee than admit your own stupidity, isn't it?

I dont know.

Jamies tackle was in many respects fair and a good challenge, but if the laws of the game do apply and he did indeed go in two footed then by all means show him the yellow. But for giving the tawa player some smack and probably just venting his frustration, worthy of another yellow?

When i can think of two ocasions off the top of my head where the tawa players swore at the top of their lungs in front of the ref at a call and got shown nothing. If memory serves me correct, which it does, mikey halikias got booked for exactly that, last week for saying sh*t.

So lets stray away from the refs are crap and turn it into lets get some consistency into this game, we all know the nz refs arent up to standards in the central league and if you say other wise i plead you to come to the next olympic game and observe for yourself.

I know the next post is going to say, typical olympic blaming the referee, greazy greek, always cheating, but in reality we know as soon as you put on the blue and white you might as well accompany it with a big red target on your back and have your boots un-tied ready to make the walk back into the changing room before the final whistle.

I know other teams experiance this as well and being a ref isnt a easy job. I just want to make the point that I would like to see some better types of refereeing courses being taught, or a sort of programme improving the overall NZ ref's standard.

Sorry for the essay.

I thought it was a fair sending off, would of been fine if he had just taken the first yellow card and left it as it was, but he only has himself to blame for reacting in the way that he did. Didn't see the first half but I actually thought Olympic looked alright especially after their first goal, but Tawa grinded it out and in the end their determination saw them through.

I crackup that alot of Olympic players and supporters always defend their players, then will often blame it on the fact that Olympic is always targeted by refs. Has anyone ever thought that perhaps it could be time to start encouraging a bit more discipline within the club or that perhaps this issue needs to be discussed further, maybe talk with Capital Football about it?? I can't think of too many red or yellow cards that I've seen given to Olympic players that weren't deserved. I personally think that good discipline is worth at least one goal a game to a team.

Good win to Tawa in the end, thought Olympics backs were lazy in marking Withers and in the end he scored the winning goal with a well placed header.
