In Napier, Cashmere Technical into the semi's were they face Wellinton Olympic in the main draw with FC (who have yet to drop a point) also into the semi's in the Satellite tourny, take on Cambridge - who FC have already defeated in pool play 1 - 0.
Sadly for both Cashmere Technical and FC Twenty11 their title hopes in Napier have ended at the semi-final stages with Technical going down to Wellington Olympic 3 - 0 in the main draw with Cambridge ending FC's hopes in the Satellitte draw when winning 2 - 0.

2018 will bring major changes to our high performance Junior and Youth structure. There is a requirement by New Zealand football, that Clubs apply to be licensed. We have done this and will hear if we are successful on 1st December. Clubs who are successful will be eligible to enter a 13th and 14th Grade team into a new Youth Premier League. One of the requirements to be a licensed Club is that our Youth Premier teams we have coaches qualified to at least Senior Level 2/Youth Level 3 and players train 3 times a week. These teams in 13th and 14th grade will be our CTFC Academy teams. There is infomation on Mainland Footballs website or click here

The silence is deafening from Mainland and clubs other than Waimak as to which clubs got their license and those that did not.
Cash Technical had an information evening yesterday about the new Youth grades and Academy set-up but I was otherwise engaged and I don't know of any other parent that went. Anyone on here go?

Running an academy (or whatever else you may call it) as part of a CY licensed club costs money and needs to be funded one way or another.
One way is to charge youth players for their own development . Good on Waimak I'd say; if the product is good it will hold up.
Some clubs may prefer to keep subs low and forget about youth development and simply continue spending on 'attracting' players others have developed for them. However this will soon cut them out of the Premier Leagues (Youth and Senior).

We are very excited to share our news with you all that Nomads United AFCs application for a 2018 Regional League Club Licence (C) and a Regional Youth League Licence (Y) has been approved!

Depending on how successful the South Island League is in 2018, if expanded for 2019 there will not be a MPL going forward.

Why not - punching above their weight.
Parklands United doing some better stuff with their football programs than some MPL clubs. Had a Junior ‘academy’ running in term 4 with over 80 kids involved.
Good luck to them, trying to move the game forward in their region!

Slinging mud at a club that’s done considerably more for junior and youth Development than Coastal has is a bit rich Foal.

Best talk to your nephew around that ? but as a whole the club are looking to develop. It takes time, but following the likes of Selwyn and Waimak with their types of growth and pathways can not be a bad thing. Surely the more clubs striving to improve both Junior and Senior levels the better for Football in the City
Was chatting to a couple of parents at a Cricket Tournament this week, their 10 yr olds play for Ohoka rugby Club and their subs are $45 for the season, this includes 2 trainings a week, a game on Saturday, a gear bag, and hoodie. Shirts are supplied but need to be handed back. They need to supply socks and shorts.
One of the dad's is a coach and last year he had to attend 3 coaching courses and 1 referees course before he could be accepted as a coach.
My 10 yr old subs at Waimak are $365 and we have to buy all the kit on top of that.
