Le Mur
Top notch English Cup win by Burwood over Coastal. 2-2 draw at full time then 5-4 to Burwood on penalties. A good game from both teams, some cracker goals. Pity it went to penalties. I think probably Burwood had more chances over the game but Coastal controlled the ball more. Now Burwood have Universities in the quarter finals on the 22 June.

Yes well done Le Mur, you can feel proud of your team. Good luck going forward, I hope you win it!

Burwood was my first club back in the day, I was in the 8th Grade E team. My dad always said I was in the E team because he registered me late but now I am not so sure.
Indeed, congratulations Burwood.
I'm sure this painful memory will fade Vim, when Parklands beat us in the Chatham Cup :)

Cashmere and Coastal looking the pretty clear favourites to dominate when Southern League comes around are they? Christchurch United seem to have gotten inconsistent, they started so well. Royals from the south potentially a threat as well.

Can someone who was at the Tech vs Selwyn game explain what happened? When I looked at Bet365 there was 10 minutes to go, Selwyn were 2-0 up, and Tech were paying $17 to win. I did consider chucking some money on it but thought better of it. Or did I???

Selwyn went two up in the 75th minute, Cashmere Technical had plenty of chances up to this stage, with PT in Selwyn goal up to his usual high standard with Selwyn defence also doing their bit to keep a clean sheet. Once the second goal was scored, Tech poured forward and got a goal back in 82 and levelled 3 minutes later and at that stage there was only going to one winner. Sadly for Selwyn it is a 90 plus minute game and they ended up empty handed when a one stage looked to be heading for what would have been among the biggest upsets in the history of the league.

Mainland Football please get your head out from where it needs not to be.

You are close to falling behind the Russian neighbour, if not close then you already have.

The crazy amount of rumours and stories of players within mainland placing bets on their own teams games as well as other local games is frightening and clearly there’s no smoke without fire. You have one of the Premier coaches constantly running their mouth off over how much they’ve won, you have a national league team who appear more than willing to place wagers for and against themselves - strange results would strongly back these claims up, a certain ex player from the champions who made the move to the Russian coffee cartel also boasting about his winnings exceeding tens of thousands of dollars just from the local game. On top of all this, bang average players being paid money to play dreadfully whilst we cripple our junior and youth sections, you brought in some nonsensical APA stuff which most clubs are making a mockery of.

Are you going to come out and do a proper investigation into these allegations or sit back and say there’s nothing you can do? The game is in ruins and the standard is getting poorer and poorer yet little is being done. There’s been emails and messages sent but no sort of a reply or acknowledgment. Perhaps the Canterbury football public will be better off if the the Russians win the war, it would be a massive shame but maybe the shake up needed for football.

Getting amateur football away from betting companies would be a good start if not any Tom Dick or Harry not already in on these money making schemes will soon jump on board. The integrity of the game is on the line and there’s nothing being done.

Maybe Padmore should give up this premier football dream of his and do something that will make people stop questioning what it is he actually does in his role.

While I'm a fan of gossip and insinuation I find this post quite perplexing. Smoke but no fire? Facts would be nice but I'm not expecting too much, or am I? How do you go about proving these statements are more than baseless accusations when it all comes down to he said she said? What powers do Mainland Football have to investigate, pretty toothless I would think.

Both sides scored 3 goals each. Clearly defense was not a priority for either team. Hope that helps Vim? And no, I wasn't there :)

Sounds like the talking of a person who lost their tendies from the Tech vs Selwyn game ;) Wonder how many people had the same thing happen? If you read a few posts ago- probably lots

Yep, 1st 17 minutes defence didn't seem to be a priority as it was 2-2. Both sides had chances that they took and missed. Probably on balance a fair result, maybe Chch Utd edging it slightly. A couple of important areas at either end of the pitch where Selwyn were better and that paid off.
