Cracking game full of dramarama with Halswell bashing their way to an undeserved 1-0 half time lead while crocking 2 Coastal players. Halswell keeper had a blinder to keep his side in it with numerous fine saves until Coastal equalised while Ewan Bakker was the constant sole threat, then deep in extra time Halswell make a tactical substitution of their 'keeper specifically for the penalties which completely backfires in spectacular fashion! Coastal deserved winners on the night.

Thought the ref was fortunate Coastal didn't have a headlock throwing policeman amongst their support crew, apparently the best they can muster is a dog ranger who hurls insults at 'keepers.

If 'keepers hassle 'keepers I think that's like rules of the jungle innit?

Now all we've got to do is get it shifted to the Saturday and all's well.

I hear Ash Wellbourn broke his ankle the other night, bad news for him and Canty Utd. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Not surprised the way Halswell tried to bully Coastal, 2 first half subs down to over physical play. Real shame for Wellbourn as he was just getting back into some solid form, big loss for Coastal and CU.

Coastal drew 2-2 with FC2011

Halswell beat Bays 1-0 I think

Tech beat Western 3-2 and rumour has it John Brown sent off....

Yes was Halswell 1 nil over Bays with Russell Kamo having a penalty saved. Cashmere Technical took the early lead over Western with shield looking to be on the move when Western lead 2 - 1 at the break. John Brown sent from technical when referee and lino missed a clear corner for Technical. Said referee "was refereeing like a twelve year old". Tech then score twice in the space of five minutes to take the win.

The South Island Final between Dunedin Technical and Woolston Technical has been moved forward and will now be played next weekend.

In Div 1 University 3 - nil over Waimak  to win the league cup double and stay unbeaten on the park. Well done University and looking forward to the new rule book.

If interested Welly Olympic only defeated Petone 5 - 2, needed to win by 4 clear goal to pip Miramar for the Central League title.

How convenient, I assume that is the automatic 1 game suspension JB will miss if indeed he was sent off?

Football South requested the the South Island Final Game be brought forward during the week. If John Brown is charged with referee abuse then likely to be a couple of game at least.

Put this table up (see below) after round 14 and show the points gained by each team after the completion of each full round 1 - 7, 8, - 14 and 15 - 21.

Cashmere Technical were the only side to increased the number of points after each full round, and topped the table in 10 of the 21 rounds, with Bays top for 7 weeks and Suburbs the other 4.

Technical equalled the most goals scored in a 21 game season - 62 the same as Suburbs in 2008, and on the flip side FC Twenty equalled the most goals in a 21 game season - 63 the sam Richmond also in 2008.

Of interest does ditching a coach work? Under Colin Currie Coastal picked up 13 points in the first ten rounds and then picked up 11 points from final 11 games with FC Twenty going from 2 points to 6 points over the same period when Tsetso moved on.

For the third season on end there were more wins away from home 38 - (32 at home) with just 14 draws the lowest number of draws in three season. As a result it was just the fourth time time the Mainland PFL kicked off in 2002 that there were more away goals scored 154 to 127 home goals, with 129 goals scored in the first half and 152 after the break.. The average number of goals per game was 3.35, up from 3.12 in 2012.

Team 1 - 7 8 - 14 15 - 21 Total
Cashmere Technical 14 16 19 49
Nelson Suburbs 13 16 12 41
Ferrymead Bays 18 9 11 38
Western 10 15 13 38
Halswell United 9 10 10 29
Coastal Spirit 10 7 7 24
Nomads 4 8 1 13
FC Twenty11 2 0 4 6

So he could still be sidelined for the Chatham Cup final?
