Cashmere easily the better side even sans Stu Kelly. Should have won by more, but for a stoic effort by Tom Batty.

Cash Tech went first, scored. Matt Joy first up for Dn Tech missed his penalty. Cashmere missed their 3rd. Tech missed their 4th and never got a 5th.

Interestingly, John Brown spent the whole game in the stands. This was optional apparently, some chat about a good behaviour bond ahead of next week.

Heard today at English Cup final when they were advertising Chatham Cup that 700 tickets have already been sold, should be a good day next sunday if the crowd keeps growing during the week

John was sent from the dug out last weekend in the final league game up here in Chch.

I see Waitakere lost their final Northern PFL 3 - 1 to Onehunga Sports yesterday,  to leave them this 8th place in the 10 team league. 5 wins, 4 draw and 9 losses - 24 goals for and 41 against. Roy Krishna and Rory Turner their leading scorers with 7 goals each (the same as former Christchurch United player Eric Seekie - who played in the 2011 Mainland League, now plays for East Coast Bays).

If it sells out, and there is every chance it will going by that, what's the bet entry turns into a debacle as people turn up 20 minutes before kick off, particularly before the Chatham Cup only to find there is no parking within cooee of the ground and the queue to get in is out on Cranford St.? It has been a long time since the last full house there (never in the current format) and the public will have no prior experience of it to go on other than rocking up to watch their local club, if they ever bothered that is, parking at the gate and wandering in with at most 100 others. Will be interesting.

Does anyone know if Cup game is televised? Yes Waitakere lost 3 1 yesterday but without Krishna, Butler, Turner and Myers. Krishna and Turner 7 goals each this season but only played 8 games for the side I think. Top scorer in the league got 11.

CTV, the local station down here will be filming the game, have already put up a tower on the 'bank' side of the park. Unsure if the are filming on behalf of Sky TV or not. I will try and confirm at post update. Sounds like Radio Sport are having the game 'live'.

eric seekie was a very good player.

Maybe but always seemed to be getting cards for the refs, as always seemed to have plenty to say for himself. Scored 3 goals for ChCh United in the 2010 Mainland PFL and one in 2011 before he headed to Auckland.

Last couple of years it's been recorded to NZF's YouTube channel, not sure if they streamed it live.

Could they do a deal with St Alban's School and use the School Courts for parking?

Just been speaking to CTV and game will be shown in full on Sunday evening 15 Sept, on CTV and they are currently looking if they can supply coverage to Sky TV.

Tonight I have finally completed all the goal scoring stats for the Mainland Premier Football League since it commence in 2002 - 3481 goals from 1052 games for and average of 3.31 goals per game.

For a bit of fun lets see how good you are by naming the top 12 all time scorers who have scored 629 (or 18.07%) of the goals.

Depending on how things go will give a hint or two.

I think some will be suprised by the top dozen.

Ooh nice work and a fun game.  Ok I'll start: Maybe you can only pick 3 per guess...

I'll go Keith Grosvenor, Russel Kamo and Gareth Turnbull.

Yes to Matt Smith, both Matt and Ewan Bakker are two of only fours players in the top ten scorers that have scored all their goals for the same club, that is the first hint..  :

Chris Anderson is in 14th place with 36 goals, with Alex Pax making the the top 20 with 31 goals.

Need some Nelson players but don't know who.

Andy Pitman with the penalties he used to take he would have got a few, Ben Cameron may just be there or there abouts.

Jimmy Small? How many years did he play MPL if more than a couple he my have been a shot, couldn't resist that.

Greg Feutz did Mid Canterbury play MPL or only Qual league Greg had a couple of good years with Nomads.

Will pay out on Greg Feutz, but not the others. Table is for just the Mainland PFL from 2002 onwards.

Greg bagged 50 goals - Nomads (42) and Burnside (8) so is 6th on the all time list.

Ben Cameron tally is 25, Andy Pits 16 with Jimmy Small just 1, but Jimmy scored plenty in the old Southern League.

Next hint of the four players 'missing' two have retired and of the other two I think they both played at least one game in 2013.
