I watched Uni v Nomads for the second time this year and both times Uni should've been at least 2 up before half time.
Saturday game saw some poor finishing from Uni that put high flying DJI drones in more danger than the score sheet.
Two clear first half chances that should be getting put away and both on target got well saved.
Uni need to turn the amount of ball they had and strikes they get into goals if they want to stay up.
Nomads problem for this year has been lack of scoring goals without Hoyle in the squad.
Be a plus if Nomads can gain more points in the last third of the season than the first.
Maybe get the ten point gap to Coastal closed out and move into 4th working on the same thoughts as ZCoastal fans on winning the league from ten points back. N.A.S.S. for either.
Cashmere Tech are the only team in the league Nomads can't beat. Nelson we should've won that first game and the same with the first Coastal game less the two clear offside goals CS got.
As others have mentioned on here plus several players the officiating is a poor standard in the MPL to other leagues in the country.
IMO the officiating overall the games I've watched this year is the worst we have had since the MPL started.
I think the so called refs coaching they are getting is not as good as used to be either, takes me back to officiating in the old Southern League days. I couldn't give a toss if a ref can't run 10 or 30 second 100 metres just get in the correct position to get the big calls correct and keep your cards in your pocket talk to the players as if you know what your doing with a whistle.
I'd say the refs are too busy listening to the running commentary from the Ars to watch the game themselves. It is a total joke the crap they give over the intercom, this is what you hear game after game "he's playing it long no going short balls in play" can't the ref see for himself and if not what is he watching?
I heard a good one at English Park a couple of weeks ago from a ref after a foul at the top and outside the Penalty Box
Team A player "thats a penalty"
Ref reply to A- "I didn't see anything" Didn't need to see the contact we could all hear it including those in the stand
What was the ref looking at near the penalty area? Only one thing you are looking at and it's not the watch or score board.
LineO that is further away and not inline to the contact gives a penalty.
Team B player "How's is that a penalty when contact is clear outside the box"
Ref-"I saw the contact it was in the box" You what saw it with what your back?
What a absolute joke these sort of calls with these type of comments make of the game and everything Mainland Football think they are out to improve.
