The SPL has been hotly contested all season, a real shame two rounds weren't able to be completed because it is so very close and some quality sides will miss out.

Roslyn-Wakari, with all their Southern players, dropped vital points against Southland on the weekend, with a 96th minute penalty giving Southland the win. Can't see the title going anywhere else than Dunedin Tech or Queenstown - both quality sides who play a direct but skilful brand of football, and don't let many in. Caversham must beat Queenstown and hope Mosgiel beats Southland this weekend to stay in contention.

Those down south cannot wait for the SIL to begin, the region is going to be better for it!

How come the've only played 6 - 7 games? Someone sleep in?

What's sight without sound? Love without peace? Copulation without conception?

Yep figured that, still had 2 thumbs left over when I did the count, just couldn't believe they were only playing one round. Bizzare. 9 teams. Bizzare. I love football. Bizarre.

You would think it will carry on for bottom 3 as still playing mpl. How many times do they play eachother ?

Does tech get any advantage for finishing top ?

As usual nothing seems very clear.

Do they start relgation games straightaway

Can gavin shed any light on it

Golden boot will surely have to stop after next week. Can't have 3 teams playing against each other (as ridiculous as that is anyways) and then continue the golden boot just for those fellas.

It would be nice to know what days/times they are thinking for the SI League. 12 noon games in Nelson on a Satdy were sh!thouse timing so hopefully it's a bit better in the new league.

Surely there is some planning they can release?

Sorry unsure if I can assist.

Re the Golden Boot one would assume that it would end at the end of Round 14. The bottom 3 side play each other three more times - in what is in effect a relegation competition with the points gained in the MPL carrying over. The relegation games may start straight away due be being nine rounds with the South Island League over seven rounds, with the latter not kicking off straight away.

From what I understand no guarantee to teams finish top in their respective league but this likely to become clearer once the top three in the Football South Premier League are sorted out and all the costs around travel is known.

Another question to be answered, does the Hurley Shield go on the line when the local sides go head to head in South Island League games at the holders home fixtures.

Did Tech field a full strength team v nomads, or saving the big guns for the cup match?

What is Tech's full strength team? Unsure if they have had the same starting 11 on the park only a couple of times this season.

On Saturday no Schwarz brothers, Oligivie, Clapham or Matthysen, with Nakamura, King and Tounge on the bench. Do not think Terris has played over the winter.

Know what you're saying, but if AW's info is correct, there is still 24 points to play for. They'll be bloody sick of each other by the end.

I actually doubt it will happen, all teams from what i heard earlier in the season agreed to the 3 round format. Mainland surely cannot change it now to 4 rounds without all 3 agreeing. I doubt that fc and selwyn would agree, uni would i'm sure of that though
