FT : Nelson Suburbs 1 (Sam Ayers) Cashmere Technical 5 (Tom Schwarz 2 - incl pen, Dan Schwarz , Sawn O'Brien 2) HT 1 - 3

so Technical just 1 point away from retaining Robbie's Premier League title.

Some other stats Shawn O'Brien's second goal was the 250th goal of the league with the goals split down the middle with 125 scored by the home side and 125 by the away side. Cashmere Technical currently siting on 61 goals for the season with the 62 goals the record for and 8 team 21 game season with the all time goal scoring record - 70 scored by Ferrymead Bays in the first season of the MPL in 2002 when iit was a 12 team 22 game season.

The Golden Boot race is close:

Michael White and Shawn O'Brien on 14 each with Alex Pak 13 and Ash Wellbourn and Gareth Turnbull on 11.

Be interesting to see who of those 5 front/get selected for CU.

Believe O'Brien and White play midfield AW? Wasn't suggesting playing 5 up front, midfield players who score consistently are a rare breed, add AC as well and the proven ability of Kamo not a bad starting point for the squad for the season?

Suburbs season turning to custard having conceded 16 goals in their last 3 games, play Western then Halswell and Nomads to finish, hope yet for Nomads who play Uni in the big decider in 2 weeks.

I have been told that Russell Kamo may not be turning out in the ASB this season.

And Halswell take on University this Saturday so if University can pick up a point then will make their game with Nomads even more interesting, have the feeling that goal differece may still come into play.

Should have added that with the ASB such a short season 14 games, but likely to be 16 in 2015 / 16 I think we need to yet forward / attack more, better to have 2 wins from 4 games rather then four draws.

So it is Ca$htechterbury United v Western in the English Cup final..

Should be another one sided affair.... a National League XI (12 or 13 National League Players) v a Mainland Premier League XI (No National League players)

Ca$htechterbury United will end up with all the MPL trophies on offer. Wonder how many they might win when they play all the other teams on a level playing field in the Summer.

My prediction.... A BIG FAT ZERO

Depending on whether its right or wrong on how they got there I think its great for football in Canterbury that tech are doing so well, one thing it should do is make all the other MPL clubs strive to get better & knock them off their perch.

For years people have been complaining that Canterbury teams don't do well in the chatham cup & now that they are people still complain. If it wasn't for them we wouldn't have seen such a great day at ASB last year (along with Coastal women) better than any day I've ever seen there for canty utd.

Their young reserve side won their league too, not all of these players will stay at Tech in the years to come so the work they are putting into them now will pay off for other clubs too making everyone stronger, not to say other clubs aren't doing the same.

I guess we won't see you at ASB this summer Chosen One, why pay to watch them play in summer when you can do it for free in winter :)

Cashmere Tech making a statement for why we need to get the best Mainland and best of Football South playing a South Island league.

Teams do need to go out with the intent that they can beat them, not all have done that before kick off in the last 3 weeks.

You say that all MPL clubs should strive to knock Tech off their perch. I seem to remember a couple of years ago when Tech under KB also had all the National League players in their team and won everything. Then Bays stepped up and signed Kamo and Highfield. Knocked Tech off their perch, won MPL twice in 2 years as well as English Cups and SI champs and were accused on this forum of buying the league. My point is that whilst one club continues to dominate the MPL by having it packed full of National League players, the league will never get any better. As for a Southern League... If other MPL teams cannot compete on a local basis, there is little chance of getting them involved in a SI League.

2 big games tomorrow Nomads v Coastal and Halswell v Uni.

Picking Coastal and Halswell to win which will leave the Uni v Nomads game next weekend as crucial for both teams chances of surviving.

Coastal to cruise by Nomads tomorrow at Tulett Park, eh lake.

Home game for Coastal sort of sees Nomads without their top two goal scorers in all comps this season Burns and Batty each on 6 goals I think.

Yes may be Nomads undoing that they have only managed 9 in total in the league with a similar number conceded as Uni, mind you 1 goal can win any game, still fancy Uni to stay up.

Haha no didn't seem too! Would be a 50th jubilee year to forget if Halswell are relegated. Still think they have the players to get them through, and at least compared to Nomads they can score goals (as seen last week)

yes.most eciting result is a draw as it keps Halswell in danger

in they then play CTFC then Coastal

Nomads last fixture v Nelson

Halswell play Nelson then Bays, given bottom 2 play each other they are 90% safe.
