Well done Cashmere Technical of winning back to back ASB Chathsm Cups 2 - 1 over Central, which was the HT score - Ash Wellbourn and Dan Terris the scorers which means Cashmere Technical have scored exactly 100 goals in all competion's this season. A great day for Cashmere Technical, Canterbury and South Island Football. Stu Keey was named the winner of the Jack Batty Trophy (player of the day).

At 11am Coastal Spirit take in University in the Reti Fitzpatrick Cup with Western facing Cashmere Technical in the English Cup at 2pm.
In recent seasons has been a good day with the favourites not always picking up the winners medals.

Some interesting observations from JR, and pretty accurate overall. His criticism of the referee in the Reta Final is correct: I loath taking a pop at the officials, since without them there's no game, but the referee in the Womens Final was extremely poor. One team in particular got away with plenty of shoving and barging from behind without being penalised, as the referee seemed not to want to upset " the order of things ". Having said that, the match had plenty of goals and well done Coastal.

Mainland have sent out a survey to all players registered that are over 35 (ouch) asking their opinions before two meetings soon about Masters football and whether they should bump the ages up to 40 and 50.

Yeah I gave mine as well... could've done a little better on some of the questions they asked. But hey - at least they asked.
I thought the survey was terrible. 3 questions which involved selecting a tick box, one didn't apply, and then rearranging your reasons for playing football and no room to expand on any of the answers.
As mentioned before I think by accident rather than design the 3 final grades in Masters 35 ended up pretty much about right...

I see from the Waimak AFC facebook page that they are have just accounced their new senior men's coach for 2015, Dan Clarkson, who coached the Univerities Women's MPL side this season.
Waimak on the ball getting early appointing a coach for the following season.

Legend is a word that should not be used lightly , but today our club Cashmere Technical lost a true Legend , he played in four Chatham Cup finals and even in his 70th year and 50 th year at the club he was coaching our U18 side . While battling illness he still found strength to make it to Auckland to watch his beloved team win the Catham cup . Rest in peace Billy Weir

Edgar MacIntosh Park is losing the football pitches to rugby.
Those grounds used to be nice to play on, wouldn't want to be playing cricket at the club that uses that park once the Marist rugby guys destroy it in winter.

Selwyn already having pre season games beat Waimak 3 to 2 in a mid week clash.
Does playing Div 1 give youth players a better or not pathway over a Mpl teams reserve player at making the Canterbury Dragons youth side. Big decision for more than one Selwyn lad between now and season start.

Interesting to catch up with different people from different clubs at the Canterbury United games yesterday and hear what is happening at their clubs.
Sounds like Nomads and Halswell have sorted out coaches for the coming season and could be and interesting pre-season (or not) for some of the clubs.

No, Div 1 is a definite 3 round comp and was agreed apon at the last club delegate meeting. Starts at the same time as the MPL on the 21st of March.
Poor old Burwood asked if they could move up the grades should there be a spot opened up to save them smashing teams 20-0 like they had to last year. All clubs, apart from themselves and one other, voted against this. Boo.

They tried the "business as usual line" with Div 1 but Selwyn pushed them to raise the bar on that and a few other matters.
Still, shame they let "policy" get in the way of common sense with Burwood's side. More than a few clubs were in support of their proposal so unless Burwood was given lip service by those clubs (why would they?), someone at Mainland could not quite get the numbers adding up correctly. Boo x 2!
Burwood should be in Div1, whats the point of the turtles being in thr if they cant be promoted, their is no need for them to make up the numbers now.
