Trying to get official word but as usual you are on the mark. There was a cryptic clue in my first posting.

Yeah, uni only had the goalkeeper starting from the game vs fc 20- must be saving themselves for their clashes v waimak in the weekend. I'm sure winning the league is more important for them then English cup. In other news, the under 21 league is getting split up, with two playen in Div 4 and two playing in Div 6.  So if that's correct a div 4 team (varsity reserves)just lost 3-2 to an MPL team? Why  didn't they put them in PDL? Seems to me the MPL old boys club stifling decent talent perhaps?

Here are the Uni goals as were posted on youtube and their facebook page. Well done btw. Imagine if we all did this?

Halswell goals v Nomads from last weekend on YT on the Saturday night as taken from the clubrooms balcony.

Fc2011 should play the div 5 team in MPL expect them to score another two hands full on Saturday and that's without the ASB national league player playing as a midfielder.

Cool, I can never find Halswell youtube footage when searching. I do notice they record all games...  Can you send link please.

Good news Vim both Jerry Donga and Gagame Feni will not be lining up against Coastal on Saturday.

Bollocks. If they were so called decent talent they would be pushing for a spot in MPL by playing at an MPL or Div 1 club. So what is this so called old boys club you talk about? The inference I take is MPL clubs somehow hold sway over how Mainland construct the leagues? Nothing could be further from the truth. The U21 league was poorly considered and pandered to self interested clubs.

Doubt they would do any better Scottie, 2 draws in Div 5 and you're good enough for MPL?

Looking at the video of the FC v Varsity game that defending was woeful. Surprised Varsity only scored 3 if they are as good as people say they are.

About time this boys came back. Gagame is sooooo good! Jerry is also handy, one of the better Solomon imports in recent years.

Issue for FCWTF? is that Tsetso is a club employee who does a lot more than coach the MPL side. As rumoured a while back I hear he has had his eyes on a job at APFA but then he wouldn't be the only club coach looking longingly at the flat green pastures at Lincoln would he?

Such a wonderful barrage of gossip, well done.  And Stretford End has changed his avatar too so all is fantastic!

Good that the Nelson team doesn't have their superstars, Coastal will deffo need to win this one to keep up with the pack. In the other matches surely Bays will thrash FC, Western will edge past Halswell and Tech will beat Nomads by 2 or 3.

I heart football, and very shortly MPL will be all we will have with no A-League, Euro or EPL.  Sigh.

Looks like FC on the hunt for a new coach. If the gossip is correct a player likely to be moving across town and likely to be player coach.

Using varsity as an example, (which is a Div 1 club) - id say they are pretty damn talented if they fielded their reserve team (assumably their under 21s?) and only lose 3-2 to Western MPL. The premise behind splitting the Under 21 league up into Div 4 and Div 6 is because Mainland didnt want to go through the hassle of approaching, and then being denied by the Premier clubs in attempting to accomadate these teams into the PDL. When the organisation that aims to get the best players in the best leagues avoids doing so in fear of ruffling the feathers of the big clubs, you can argue that the Prems teams do have a fair amount say in what goes on with league structure.

I don't think it would have come down to asking the MPL clubs whether it was a good idea to change the PDL. I would have thoughts Mainland would have had the sense (?) not to break up an important comp such as the PDL to fit in a few extra teams. It was agreed that the PDL would be a mirror of MPL and this works.
Shame U21 didn't work, perhaps looking at the issues around this is a better use of time.

Answer he played in the Chatham Cup game for FC so transfer request after the game . University may have done the same.

So with both clubs and MF aware they have broken the rules will be interesting to see where this goes. Guess both will be ducking for cover whilst other clubs go through their matches versus these clubs. MF won't want to deal with it if over 7 days ago....

Chatham Cup is a NZ Footbal competition so it is up to them to make a ruling, nothing to do with MF.

Correct - but local (Saturday) competition is their business. Being at wrong end of the table makes it largely irrelevant to FC, so more of a concern for Universities.

So have the players in question played in the MPL for FC or Div 1 for University???

Both should know better. Keeping low profile hoping it will go away will be wishful thinking.

W4E that is the biggest string of quantum leaps I have seen in a long time!
Maybe Mainland Football used common sense in deciding not to place any of the U21 teams in the PDL because it would have disrupted that competition and how it is structured to mirror the MPL (which really does make sense)?
Hope the U21 lads at Varsity hang around for next season, if Varsities win Div 1 they will get to show their stuff in the PDL as of right, not on the whim of administrators trying to construct "development opportunities". Mainland have a responsibility to provide meaningful competitions for clubs to enter, the PDL has been anything but in the past few years. It certainly never met the original objectives intended when it changed from a straight Reserve League to a development competition.
And there is nothing wrong either with Prem clubs having a say in how the MPL is run. Most of them would invest tens of thousands of dollars  putting teams on the park in this competition every year so deserve the respect of Mainland that this commitment demands. Not that they get it. My experience is the clubs have been treated poorly over the years, I for one would like to see the league actually run by the clubs independently of all other competitions. Let Mainland administer the social leagues while the clubs elevate the MPL to a level it should be at - separate web-site, more media coverage, games played on Sundays etc etc.

From Waimak Facebook page:

Waimak United are through to the third round of the Chatham Cup.
We were due to play Universities in Round Two, however both University and FCTwenty11 have played ineligible players in the previous round and been disqualified by New Zealand Football. So the next match in the Chatham Cup will be on Saturday 15th June.

And for posterity sake the result shall be decreed a 3-0 loss for both teams. Numpty doodle.

Can see it already:  "just an innocent mistake/oversight of a volunteer" ................. on both sides? Yeah right!

So that's Chatham Cup rules enforced by NZF.  Uni still has some answers to come up with for div1 competition. Opportunity here for MF to show some leadership instead of hiding behind their "sorry too late to appeal please get me another flat-white" rule. If not then maybe MPL clubs should be in charge as Ronaldo suggests. And that' ll be the next series of Tui's billboards sorted.

Guess with no PDL B pool (which ideally should mirror div1), relatively few options for "next tier" clubs to introduce promising youth  alongside older players in a true Play Development League where primary focus should be on just that unlike in the Reserve grade branded as PDL is at moment, winning the competition. Mixing quality youth into a lower senior grade (provided a club has one or more in the first place) is not ideal. Perhaps failed U21may be better off changed into a true PDL league to mirror div 1 teams, so that it can be used mixing a limited number of older players and help bridge that gap.

Most likely scenario is points stripped but not awarded to the opposition in which case the damage is limited and they could still come out on top provided they don't all go on holiday in a few weeks time. What a cock up.
