Interesting everyone with points after 3 rounds - no one perfect -can't see Bays staying down there for long. Big upset for Western. New side top of table. Three sides unbeaten. Looks like an interesting season. Here's hoping.

Any other results in the renamed Canterbury Qualifying League (teams chasing promotion) heard Nomads defeated Parklands 4 - 0

Waimak got a 5-0 drubbing at Selwyn's fantastic new setup at Foster Park. Hosts down to 10 men after 15 minutes, and a fair few of their regulars missing in action.

Pablo Moya - Ferrymead Bays was shown a straight red for violent conduct in the game against Cashmere Technical, sounds like threw a punch when retaliating after a bit of on going niggle.

The longer the game went always on the cards that someone was going to have an early shower.

Plenty of chat by Bays fans at Ferrymead Park that Michael White may have played his last game for the side - was not in the starting line-up or on the bench.

Sounds like trouble brewing close to the foothills already. Really do think this year is going to be one of the tightest in the past decade. In saying that a few clubs promising starts will soon be forgotten. If you've seen my results in the picks then you know my crystal ball is spot on ?

I take back my comment about me taking my ball and going home as a result of my picks. Turns out you are all pretty much just as sh!t as me so I will continue as long as I can be bothered.

Wait, what? Trouble in the hills?  If there's any issues we'll take him, he was always my favourite at Canterbury Utd. Although being from Christchurch it as always awkward cheering on "Whitey".

Moving out of town? I thought he was their best player against Coastal. Michael Foreskin I thought did well but he was subbed off at HT for some reason.

Not as I understand it - moving out of town that is, more of a case no longer happy at Bays.

Unsure if any one on here is connected with Bays may be able to confirm. Also heard that their assistant the ex ChCH United coach has departed as well.

What do other listee's think of MPL game requiring ball person's, or not supplying them.

The two games I watch yesterday - Western and Suburbs and then Bays verses Technical both did not have ball boys which at times caused the flow of the games to be effected.

At one stage at the Western / Suburbs game play had to be stopped as no official match balls on hand, one over the fence one still up a tree (I recall) unsure were the third ball was.

If clubs are not able to provide ball persons, which is a requirement of being in the MPL or the club can be fined then maybe the home team should have to supply six official balls to insure play can be continuous.

Yer I haven't seen any this year. Does slow down the game and (I thought) part of the deal of being in the MPL.

Mainland are enforcing a whole heap of rules this year and it appears not this one.

By the sounds of it Selwyn have one of the best set ups in town then. Fantastic new facilities, ball boys, proper marked lines, roped off pitches and a high quality 8 page program. It's a shame some MPL teams have lost some of these "requirements" over the years and that Mainland don't enforce them! They seem more worried about having only one team official standing in the dugout or having the right colour tape on kit rather than things that make playing football at the top level that little more of a priviliege.

Biggest problems with the ball boys is the language that goes on in these games..case in point is yesterday's half time chat at Cash Tech v Bays game between the captains and officials..lots of F words spoken loudly! Disgraceful!

Don't seem to see many young kids watching these games anymore either..have fielded plenty of complaints from parents of kids helping us in the past!

sad day for Football

Young Ben Hall who played for Christchurch Technical and had a season at New Brighton , and played national league for Christchurch City and Canterbury United unfortunately lost his long battle with Motor Neurone disease

Hally got a scholarship with the Auckland Kings and played for nz secondary schools along with many other football achievements

Very sad news indeed. Thinking of Ben's wife Lou, young son and his family at this very difficult time. RIP Ben

Heard from a pretty reliable source that Michael White will sign for Tech very shortly.  Too good to refuse apparently.

No comment on the biggest transfer of the season AW82? Just another wee Coastal question?  Funny that.

In answer to your question we are playing the first few games away from home until we get our fields sorted.

Ask the Council - it's their ground. Anyway back on subject - so White has been lured to Cashmere...

changing room facilities need upgrade as well.

Hopefully we can host games soon.

Got to stay positive but it does seem every step of progress has 50 levels of barrier to get anything done.
