I believe they're all good nowadays, Sunday players back playing Sundays....

Have it on good authority that the player in question was asked to play so the question could be who else was asked?

Surely not Div 1 points stripping again

The one player we know with Coastal connections didn't play this game, but was asked which highlights potential shortage of players again.

Could be all above aboard this time

The old should have could have, I hear uni were missing half a dozen players at least due to exams. So on the cusp of things the rosey picture your painting may need to wait a few weeks at least! Wasn't present but heard pitch was diabolical and that would never help the way uni try to play, suit the long hump up field which I hear coastal got change from. Uni not get the memo on that pitch?? Sometimes u need to play ugly, look at Serbia!

Half a dozen players, I don't think so have watched Uni play a few times and maybe one or two missing. As for Coastal humping the ball up field or playing ugly, I'm not sure who your sources were but they either weren't watching the same game or dont know too much about football. I would say Uni were the ones humping the ball up field but I'd be lying because they hardly saw any of it. And I was merely stating tht should Coastal hold onto the youngsters I had mentioned before the future looks bright so get off your high horse mate.

no high horse whatsoever. Just stating how I heard uni conceded, long ball between channels and caught out. Wasn't there so perhaps you had the best view.. All I'm saying is the test for young rising stars as your saying is when they pit themselves against the best and I would put tech and on current form bays in that category not a team missing a few players in areas of importance, perhaps your closer to knowing unis make up week in week out so apologies if not correct ?. Solid 3 points all the same, chase for third on the cards??

If you read my initial post you would have seen tht i said how well Coastal have played over the past two weeks, the week before being against Tech. A game in which Coastal were extremely unlucky as they played really well and were worth at least a point, so I reckon these kids can "pit" themselves against the best.

sorry, did not realise coastal had played tech as thought that was in coming weeks.. Only seen the first round fixture v uni which was highly entertaining so if these spring chickens keep progressing then a push for top 3 could well be on the cards.. Bumblebee do you know if coastal are going to utilize facilities that were built for the u20's?? Are mpl games going to be played week in week out on these quality pitches, surely that will go some way to lifting the standard of football??

City Council and Mainland Football must have agreed to put some of FIFA money into Rugby.

All should be sacked.

From my understanding the council came up with the list with no involvement from Mainland and Mainland then had to work very hard to get the list changed to get what we ended up with.

I believe that at one stage no parks used for football were on the list draw up by the council.

Correct - I'd heard from numerous sources Rugby park on Innes rd was on the list?!

Does seem a bit stink that a rugby pitch got done up. But we do now have some quality pitches around. Asb, avonhead, ferrymead, garrick, waimak, selwyn & cfa. Ilam is reasonably good aswell. The future of football in chch is looking bright.

Tell ya what though - ASB need to invest in some better lighting for evening games.

Yeah sucks for them but hopefully  find a way to upgrade. Halswell and Nomads have good facilities, but pitches are average at best

I'd say Halswell and Nomads have facilities - I wouldn't say they are good though.  Just about all the parks in chch need a massive overhaul (I think Tech probably has the best ones - but I've never seen them)

But with all the other things around the city these would be on the back burner.

Nothing wrong with the main pitch at Tulett Park most seasons [just not last year didn't get mow on it early enough] good for watching from the balcony while having a beer,

How many times have you played on it? Only used for the first team during the season.

Nunweek and Bishopdale are ok for the lesser grades and Bdale 2 hasn't had a game on it as yet.

Weather must be OK so far this season as we have had home games at Tulett.

I agree Nomads have over recent years produced a good No 1 ground. Coastal still have plenty to spend from Rangers Park and the Insurance from their great gym, hopefully they are not too far away.

Definitely a tremendous upgrade across the board elsewhere. I hope the clubs will make sure that the high performance grades throughout their clubs are allowed on them all.

Someone needs to re-position the new main pitch at Cuthberts! It's that little bit too close to the Softball Diamond which means there's a swamp area at the edge on the near side!

Probably.  Waimak guilty of some very poor finishing.

In any cup game you only need to win by a goal.

So Coastal v CTFC or are Dunedin sides possible?

Depends on how NZ Football 'read' their own rules for the cup draw:

4.3 The draw for the rounds involving 32 and 16 teams (Rounds 3 and 4) shall so far is practicable have due regard for the costs of travel for participating teams, and desirability of promoting matches of such importance throughout New Zealand in order to maximise local and community involvement. For clarity the practical application of this regulation means that teams from within Regional Associations 1, 2 and 3 could be drawn against each other, as could teams from Federations 3 and 4, 4 and 5, and 6 and 7.

4.4 The competition will become an open draw from the quarter final stage

They didn't invoke the power to draw 6 & 7 together for the Round of 32, so can't imagine they will this time - especially given teams will only be getting 11 or so days' notice to plan travel.

A double to Ben Wright late in the 1st half has Suburbs 2 - 0 over Universities at HT.
