I note this season's draw refers to English Park once again. ASB decided to back rugby over football. I thought we had a NZF CEO who is an ex BANK corporate WANKER BANKER. No pull obviously. Any thoughts on who might make a good sponsor for English Park? Guessing not Stonewood Homes.

Interesting as the revised Women's draw sent to me (after Selwyn pulled out) shows ASB Football Park.

11 of the above transfers have been denied with 10 still pending. Transfers covers all ASB National and Youth League side not just Canterbury United.

Look like most of the transfers see the players going back to the club they played for in 2015.

I heard it was 4-4 in the end.  Can't wait for the season to kickoff.

Someone should do a pick the winners competition like we did a few years back.

How did the competition work Vim, was it just the winners at season end or round by round.

Yes realise its youth and other teams too.  Good diversion though!

It was just done on here, where people would pick the results and I'd keep a tally that's all.   I've looked at some online ones however you can't create your own league and you have to pick the A-League etc.  I might have an idea leave it with me.

Tech playing Nomads on Saturday unless that has changed since Tuesday night.

Did Rhys Parker play upfront for Halswell v Uni last night as he did when Halswell played Nomads.

Oops I posted in the wrong thread.  Check this out.

Righto, we'll give this a go. Here is the link: Mainland Tipping Comp

Anyone with the link can play, although let's just keep it to our lot on the forum as it will take a bit of data entry every week and I can't be bothered with every Tom, Dick and Harry Redknapp. By joining you agree to do it every week!

How about we go a tenner each, plus a can of your favourite beer for the winner. You hold onto both and hand over at the end of the season. Doesn't worry me if we don't do it for money just might make it a little more interesting.

Lemme know.

Not sure of the final score but i watched the first hour of the FC v Uni game. Was 0-0 when i left with Uni having much the better of play.

A result from last weekend that wasn't reported here was FC 0 Western 5. Worth knowing for the 70% of people thus far picking a FC win on the opening day!

Nomads v Tech from Saturday 1-1 at HT 1-4 at FT.

Nomads v Parklands on Sunday a loss for Nomads some say 1-6 could've been more for a GKs top game, was 1-3 at half time.

Nomads Res a win over Bays Res.

Which Nomads and Parklands teams played on Sunday then? As with Nomads having played Tech Saturday and Parklands out at Waimak I'm imagining it wasn't the first teams for either?

Permalink Permalink
about 10 years ago · edited about 5 years ago · History

tech were playing Nomads on Saturday we played our top squad , I felt Nomads shows physicality and played some good stuff and fully deserved thief 1-0 lead , we only got back it on the stroke half through a great Individual goal by Gary Ogilvie .Nomads worked extremely had and as they got tired We managed to use the ball going forward a lot better , and came away with4-1 in the end .further 2 goals to Liam Oxley and 1 to Sho . Nomads could rightly so feel as if the score flattered tech a wee bit. They were missing a few also, so I think they'll be up there this year.

watched our reserves and u17 lads at Waimak in the final it was a great game with Brandos lot edging out Hutchins lot 3-2.

Peter and the team at Waimak run a great little tournament . Next year it would be good to more teams in it that are sending thier teams to u17 Auckland and also more reserve teams and qualifying teams in . Well done all volunteers that made it a success

Hay some good players have pulled on a Sunday Leahue team shirt over the years.

Including Tech and New Brighton identities and not to forget a couple of Canterbury Dragons from past seasons have pulled on an a shirt.

14 people have signed up to the picks competition which is great.  A few of the regulars haven't, (Broonie, Prickly Thistle) you've got until Friday night to do so then I'll cut it off.  I'll then post the picks on here and you can see what others have done.

Would anyone like to assist with the running of it?  You will just need to know how to use google forms and google sheets (excel). This most definitely rules out Foal30!

Thanks

WPL will be very close. Pretty much player availability will probably be the biggest factor. I don believe we will have our best XI on field for significantly longer than Uni and CTFC.

MPL will have a top 2 a middle 4 and a bottom 2 I think. Pos 3-6 will be closer than 2-3  I venture. Still keen on a 10 team MPL 2017
